Convenience AND a security device all in one!

I hesitated to buy such an "Old Person's" product, until I had a room with lighting that w,as almost impossible to get to because of a necessary bed in the way...very small room. The cords were under the bed, with that clicky thingy on the cord. So, I wondered about this solution, did my research...and when it said that it can be put in "sensitive mode for security when you are away" I committed to checking it out. I LOVE THE CLAPPER i GO INTO THIS ROOM JUST TO CLAP, NO KIDDING! I have not tried it in the other security mode yet, I notice that you definitiely have to pause between claps, or pounding on the wall, or top of a table, to allow the receiver to know it's being addressed, but it does work almost all the time. IF it's real noisy in the area, the lights might come on, but not very often. I'm going to use the other one in my bedroom so if I have to walk into a dark room at night I can clap on the way down the hall and have light! I will probably end up buying more as time passes. Ali

Sensitive Ears

This is a good product and works pretty well. The only problem is that it has sensitive ears and hears more than claps. On my hardwood floors, two steps can sound like two claps, so the light will turn on. I can actually yell "Turn on!" distinctly and it hears it as two claps and turns on. I have to unplug it during movies. I suppose this would make a good burglar alarm if it is so sound-sensitive. Another thing: there is a slight pause between the hearing of the claps and the light actually turning on, so sometimes I'm not sure if it has heard my claps; I have to wait a few seconds to see if it has heard my claps or if I have to clap again. All that being said, I do appreciate having The Clapper on a lamp in a room that I have to pass through in the dark, where it wouldn't be feasible to go back to the light switch to turn off the light.

Works great!

I like how you can have two different things activated by either two or three claps. Not overly sensitive and can be adjusted but does get activated by very rare double coughing sometimes (had a cold not long ago). It's not anything that major and you can adjust the sensitivity to help. I would recomend it to anyone. Give one a try.

Pretty cool!

My husband has been wanting one of these forever so I finally got it for him for Christmas. It's fun to play with and pretty easy to work. It took awhile to get the clapping part down (you have to clap just so to make it work) but once we figured it out, it's been nice not to have to get out of bed to turn off the light!

Not just a Gag gift

My husband and I have enjoyed ours for years. Just bought them for the kids. They were very excited and they like not having to get out of bed in the dark. Just have to keep doors shut because sometimes one kid will clap off another kids light. There rooms are separated by a hallway.
