On her birthday each year, Lolly’s mother gave her a charm, along with the advice that there is nothing more important than keeping family memories alive, and so Lolly’s charm bracelet would be a constant reminder of that love.

Now seventy and starting to forget things, Lolly knows time is running out to reconnect with a daughter and granddaughter whose lives have become too busy for Lolly or her family stories.

But when Arden, Lolly’s daughter, receives an unexpected phone call about her mother, she and granddaughter Lauren rush home. Over the course of their visit, Lolly reveals the story behind each charm on her bracelet, and one by one the family stories help Lolly, Arden, and Lauren reconnect in a way that brings each woman closer to finding joy, love, and faith.

A compelling story of three women and a beautiful reminder of the preciousness of family Viola Shipman's The Charm Bracelet is a keepsake you’ll cherish long after the final page.

A tender, touching, he...
A tender, touching, heart-warming tale of three generations of women, bound by family and by the charm bracelets they wear. Lolly, Arden, and Lauren, grandmother, mother, and daughter, face similar struggles as they cope with life and struggle to find the courage to face the uncertainties of the future. Readers will find venerable nuggets of wisdom couched in the captivating stories spun out for several of the charms that adorn the bracelets. Adventure, luck, faith, love . . . Lolly chronicles the events that led to the giving of the charms and, in doing so, defines the fabric that weaves their lives together and creates family. With it powerful sense of place and well-defined characters, readers will find this multi-generational story difficult to set aside. The eloquence and grace of "The Charm Bracelet" will remain with its readers long after they've turned the final page. Highly recommended.

The Charm Bracelet by ...
The Charm Bracelet by Viola Shipman is set in Scoops, Michigan. Lolly Lindsey has the beginning of dementia. She knows that this will be her last chance to tell her stories and family history to her family. Arden, Lolly's daughter, gets a call about her mother from a neighbor. Arden and her daughter, Laurel hurry back to Scoops to check on Lolly. This is Lolly's chance to spend time with her busy daughter and granddaughter. Lolly tells her story via the charms on her charm bracelet. Each charm represents a special event or time in her life. Each charm is a story and has a life lesson. Lolly wants to pass along to Arden and Lindsey about living life to its fullest and enjoying each day. Can Lolly change Arden's and Lindsey's perspective (and what is most important) on life? Come join Lolly, Arden, and Laurel on a journey towards a better life. The Charm Bracelet was sweet story. I give The Charm Bracelet 2.5 out of 5 stars. It was passable, but not riveting (engrossing or engaging). It is a story that has been told before and has a predictable outcome. The writing is satisfactory, and the characters (for the most part) are relatable (especially Arden). But there is something off (did not feel right or seem right about the female characters). I did not discover it until after I finished the book (I wanted to see what other people were saying about the book). The author is not a woman and it explains so much. I finished The Charm Bracelet, but I did a lot of skimming (speed reading) to finish it. If you are looking for a light summer read, then you will enjoy The Charm Bracelet. I received a complimentary copy of The Charm Bracelet from NetGalley in exchange for an honest evaluation of the book.

Through an heirloom charm bracelet three women will discover the importance of family, faith, love and a passion for living as the story of each charm changes their lives. I was lucky enough to win this book from Goodreads and couldn't wait to read it. It was such a wonderful story that it only took me one day to finish the book.. This story of three generations of women and a charm bracelet that allows them to discover more about themselves and each other was so touching that I suggest you have tissues nearby when you read this book. The only negative I have is that I could only give the book 5 stars. I deserved many more.

Wow. I got teary-eyed ...

Wow. I got teary-eyed by the end of each charm story! Viola Shipman ( aka Wade Rouse) does an impressive job immersing you into the lives of Lolly, Arden, and Lauren. Each woman is on a different course in their lives, but only Lolly has learned the true art to living life: live your life exactly the way you want to live it so you have fewer regrets. Lolly is in the sunset of her life. Her enthusiasm is contagious to those around her who know her and love her. Arden is unhappy with her life, her career, and herself. The rough patches of life hardened her attitude. She doesn't realize it at first, but returning home to Michigan to her mother was the best decision she ever made. It triggers an unplanned course-correction. Lauren loves her grandmother deeply. She wants her life to be full of joy and love. The charm bracelet is more than just a bunch of memorable charm stories. It's about faith and love and the pursuit of happiness.

I will tell you right ...

I will tell you right at the beginning of my review that this was a fantastic book! The author did a great job as a first time novelist with this story in making the characters and the story come alive. Its a fantastic book to read and I think it would be a great book to be discussed at book club meetings. The book centers around Lolly, grandmother, Arden, daughter and Lauren, granddaughter. Lolly is starting to lose her memory and wants to share the stories of their family and invites her daughter and granddaughter home to Michigan for Memorial Day weekend. She uses her charm bracelet and has a story to tell about each charm on her bracelet. Arden, long embarrassed by her mom had quit wearing her charm bracelet but Lauren still wore hers. As the stories are told, Arden realizes the mistakes that she's made in her life and the three women work to re-connect with each other and with their inner feelings. Its a wonderful book about love and family and the family history that makes us all what we are today. I am definitely looking forward to future books from this author. Thanks to NetGalley for providing this book for an unbiased review.

Each charm has its own...

Each charm has its own meaning and special place in Lolly's heart. For her birthday, her mother gave her a charm along with the simple advice that there's nothing more important than family and keeping memories alive. Now, at 70, Lolly's memory isn't what it used to be. She reaches out to her workaholic daughter and her teenage granddaughter to come for a visit. Every charm has a story, and through Lolly's stories the three women are able to find peace, happiness, faith, passion and love.I love charm bracelets, always have. I loved the three generations of women and their closeness. I loved going back to the past, whether it was learning about Lolly's grandmother, or her own childhood, and even into her adulthood. I loved the setting.. the log cabin on Lost Lake that has been in the family for generations. This was a heartwarming, cozy, well-written book with a great ending!
