Good sauce for a flavorful chicken dinner.

McCormick Sicilian Chicken Skillet Sauce with Garlic, Basil and Tomato is a culinary treat. I really like the easy pour spout on the package. It's very easy to open and pour. I used about a pound of chicken drumettes, about two cups of mushrooms, a whole onion and a large jalapeno pepper. I cut the mushrooms in quiet large pieces and the jalapeno and the onion into strips. I cooked the chicken drumettes first because they take the longest then I added the peppers and onions and then the mushrooms. I used a large, heavy fry pan with a cover because it spatters. After cooking everything for about 20 minutes, I added the sauce. The Sicilian Chicken Skillet Sauce cooks very fast. Almost immediately it started thickening. It covered the chicken and all the vegetables with a delicious marinara-like sauce with the basil adding its unique flavor. This dish could have used a little extra garlic because the sauce doesn’t have enough for a Sicilian type dish. I also found the tomato flavor to be a little too sour so the next time I use it, I’ll add a bit of cheese to tame the sauce. It’s a good sauce, I’ll probably use it again and yes, I’d recommend it to a friend.
Dinner is done. Yummy!

Not bad for a pre-made sauce

Although I did need to add some pasta water to the skillet so the sauce would be saucier (not quite enough in that little packet), the taste was pretty good. It would make an excellent spicy spaghetti sauce, as that is what it really reminded me of. It tasted of tomato sauce or paste and lots of black pepper. My daughter disagrees and would have given this a rating of 5 stars. I would have given it 3 stars, so we are splitting it down the middle and going with 4 stars. It is super simple to make a meal with this packet of sauce. Cook some chicken and pasta or rice, add some vegetables to the chicken, tear open the packet and pour it in. Cook the meat and vegetable mixture a couple of minutes more, just to heat up the sauce. Pour the mixture over the pasta or rice and supper is ready! It was ok, but not something that I will bother getting again anytime soon.

Quick easy one pot meal

I made this for dinner today and it was pretty easy and was a one pot meal, just added onions, mushrooms and chicken and then McCormick Sicilian Chicken Skillet Sauce, the package says it serves 4 but it only served to of us I guess if you'd make it dryer then maybe it would serve 4,I served over rice. I know it says Basil tomato but to me it had to much basil taste and was a little salty but I never use much salt so that's probably just me. We ate it all but I'm not sure I'll buy again just because if the salt. If you like a lot of spice you'll like this.

Quick dinner!

We thought that this could use a little more spices in it, so we added more tomatoes-onions, still was not as good as it looked on the package. We said it would probably need two packages of the sauce for it to be great, so we are going to try it again with more sauce.

Good flavor, super easy to use

I was given a package of the McCormick Sicilian Chicken Skillet Sauce to review. The very first thing I did, was to turn it over and see what the ingredients were. I was surprised that except for a few "must-haves" that will allow the product to be stored without going bad, it was pretty much the same things I would use in my own kitchen. Considering I make everything from scratch, that's pretty high praise! Now, it did say to use Chicken Breasts in the directions, but the ones I had were frozen solid and so I used 6 chicken leg portions instead. Just to be clear, I used 6 leg with thigh pieces of chicken. Also I cut up 1 onion and 1 green pepper, but I also decided to throw in a couple of stalks of celery and also a couple handfuls of fresh sliced carrots as well. I put 2 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil to my big electric skillet and began to saute the chicken pieces as I like a little crispness to my chicken, then I added the veggies and saute'd a bit more. Then I added the sauce on top, as directed. I left it simmer on low for 1 hour covered, and when I lifted the lid it looked a bit dry in there. I did add in a bit more spaghetti sauce that I had on hand, as I like more sauce than the package provided. I think if you were to serve this over some noodles or rice, it would make for quite a dry dish. There just wasn't enough sauce to really wet the noodles thoroughly. Other than that, it was quick and easy. And the taste was really good, surprisingly! I'm quite hard on my reviews as I'm a "foodie" and don't normally like short cuts with "fake flavors" but this stuff is pretty good. If I was in a hurry, I'd probably grab a package and get going with it again. Yes, I would recommend this to anyone, especially someone not really that great yet at cooking and who wants to have a nutritious meal that tastes good and isn't chock full of preservatives.
