Didn't work
My daughter spent 2 days in online chat with the manufacturer, to no avail. She was told to return it to the retailer and order a new one. When I got online to order a new one, the price for the exact same item had increased by almost $15 in a little over one week!

Worthy purchase

I already had a tp link modem earlier and this is my second one. Cheap and best. For long lasting and better results, turn it off the entire night.

All works great, must call Xfinity too though

All works as advertised, connected, plugged in and it came on wifi within 2 minutes. Xfinity got in the way though, I had to call them to set up the connection, turns out they must deactivate the rental, cancel it from your account then "allow" the new modem. Took about 20 mins with a very helpful rep, once done it all came online and works good, so budget about 20 mins with Xfinity to authorize it and you'll be OK. Speed seems about same as prev, probably due to Xfinity cable rather than router

Works

I've been using the device for a few weeks now and it works fine for me. I did recently start to experience a slight delay while trying to open a few apps on my phone over wifi and was concerned. I figured I'll try to change the channel that the router broadcasts over (1-11) to see if that does the trick. The quick installation guide it came with tells you how to customize your network, and so I followed the instruction, reached the menu to manage things, tried out different channels and found one that worked better for me and the issue is cleared up. For those unaware, sometimes neighbors wifi signals that are also broadcasting over the 2.4 ghz band on the same channel as your network can interfere with your signal...this is why customer service usually tells people to first try changing the channel. This device performs as good as other devices I've used in the past, with the several devices I have connected, streaming, etc, at the same time. The Wifi signal should be strong enough for most homes I would think. So far so good, It's worth the purchase, if not satisfied Walmart allows up to 90 day return. ;)

great product

Great modem/wireless router combo for use with Xfinity cable service. Works great and loved the "cheat" sheet that came with it. Made installation a breeze. Pays for itself in just under 6 months.

Not for CenturyLink

This modem was recommended for a CenturyLink internet only to find out later that it wasnt compatible. The worst part was the customer service by the staff at TPlink, one advice, if thats how u talk to your customer whose lost in rega rds to the product than do me a favor n dont list the customer helpline on the help link

Terrible range

Good price, easy set up, and strong signal.........until you get more the 20ft away or go upstairs. Did a speed test on both floors and the drop in download speed went from 50 to 5. Definitely had to sent it back

1. No, the TC-W7960 utilizes DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Internet connectivity. FiOS utilizes Fiber Optic connection technology, which is different than cable and is not compatible with Cable Modems. Regards, TP-Link Support If your FiOS router is a gateway (modem + router), then the Deco M5 can't fully replace it; however it can be used in together with it in either Access Point Mode, or as your primary router. If you intend to eliminate the FiOS gateway entirely, we recommend contacting FiOS to discuss the possibility of removing your gateway and replacing it with an ONT or direct Ethernet connection.
