Now that I'm learning what I'm doing, it works great. I just had to learn to stop and take an occasional look at the instructions when things didn't seem to be working right. I am now very happy with my new router.

Up and running in 10 minutes. Good signal strength. Handles my high throughput (2 TVs streaming and multiple PCs) better than the old one that would lock up and disconnect devices. Not one drop out in 4 days vs 1 or 2 every day before I upgraded. Archer runs cooler than my old Belkin too. Running with Charter, I mean Spectrum Cable. I'd show the Modem name but there is none... Driving a wired switch and two access points hardwired as wifi range extenders, though I doubt I need the range extenders anymore with the Archer. I actually turned the power setting down from High.
I wish I had bought this sooner, have been using my old D-Link N150 for about 9 years. I haven't seen 5 bars on my smart tv since I purchased it in 2010. I own a 3 story home and this router is giving me excellent coverage throughout, my old D-Link N150 had trouble reaching the 3rd floor of the house if at all. It was a super easy install, it walks you through step by step in under 10 minutes. I recommend this to anyone that is having coverage issues and reliabilty because I haven't lost a connection once, plus it comes with a manufacturer 2 year warranty.
No not at all I was told that it doesnt have to connect to a modern but it does in order for it to work.
