Excellent TV!
I wanted a 4K 65 inch TV. Looked at the QLED TVs which have a great picture but they're a bit expensive. Spent over 20 hours reading reviews of TVs and this TCL kept coming up with rave reviews from technical website. Never heard of TCL before but after reading everything I could I learned several things. First - TCL makes components for Samsung TVs. And they are, depending on who you go by, the top or second highest selling TVs in the U.S. When the TV arrived my biggest fear was it would arrive damaged. When it was delivered it was not in a plain shipping box but in the box you see in the store. And the bottom of the box was totally wet and falling apart. GASP! I feared the worst and dreaded the thought of having to send it back. Took it out of the box, with help and set it up. No damage and worked great. Excellent 4K picture with Dolby Vision. It had the latest remote with the microphone search feature. Works great! Speakers had good volume but since I had a soundbar I hooked that up. I like the ROKU feature plus I do have Netflix. Everything worked great and I am very happy with this TCL TV. Best TV I ever owned and I've owned a LOT of TVs.

TCL 65R617
This unit has a problem which is referred to as "banding." The TCL service tech told me that it is considered normal and is not a warranty issue. Banding is fuzzy black lines that show on the screen when the background color is off white or simply a lighter shade. This is unacceptable for a a 4K television. Don't buy this set.

Second TV works great

I'm happy with this SECOND TV. It seems to be working great and is everything that was advertised by TCL. The first TV arrived with a cracked screen and took about 3 weeks for a replacement to arrive at my local Walmart. Both boxes severe damage to the outside, so Walmart or the transportation people need to apply a little more TLC to the TCL TV's ;) .

TCL 6 series

This TV is awesome! I know there have been some negative reviews about this tv? But honestly it never bothered me any? In my opinon every tv has issues good or bad? Thats why buying tv or anything else you should always get a warrenty with it! If you cant afford $1500-3500 dollar tvs than this is the best budget tv there is! I had mine shipped to me and everything was great from the box to the opening no problems or concerns everything works great! 5 star for me always do your research to find out whats best for! God bless and would recommend this tv!

The picture is amazing. If you're on the fence, go for it. You won't be disappointed. The Dolby Vision is especially nice and there's a decent amount of content in it on Vudu and Netflix. The blacks are way better than I expected. It's not as good as OLED but the TV almost looks like it's off in black areas which is as close to OLED as you can get. Gets a lot brighter than I expected. The Roku interface is nice. Quick and straight forward. Thought the voice control on the remote was a gimmick, but it's actually pretty helpful. One think I don't like is it only has 3 HDMI ports. I feel like a TV this big and expensive should have 5. There is the ARC HDMI so you can expand it if you have a soundbar or receiver with extra inputs, but I'd rather have them on the TV. The composite input deal is cool although I would prefer if it was a component instead.

Wow, great tv. It looks great and the ease of switching from antenna to streaming works with no issues.

great value, a little flimsy, uneven backlighting

Great TV for the money. That said, it has some limitations that seem to be glossed over or not reported in other reviews. For example, to reduce weight, it is a rather flimsy construction and the first one that arrived had been cracked by handling prior to arrival. Second, although the quality of image is very good, the backlighting leads to light hazy areas around bright fields. This is particularly apparent with bright areas next to dark areas. It is not a show stopper and overall the image quality is very good.

Hands Down The Best Set For The Money

For the money, you simply cannot beat the picture quality of this set. The Roku interface is great - it comes with a voice remote - and if you use the app, you can do cool things like use the headphones connected to your phone for private listening.

Like Kung Fu flicks???

Beautiful looking set, excellent picture, great sound quality. Too bad there isn't an audio sync setting. words don't match the lips. Its like watching an 80's kung fu movie. I am highly disappointed. Contacted TCL but couldn't get through to anyone. Phone, chat, email, even twitter. I complained on their twit acct and they told me to DM for help. I DMed and they told me to call the helpline. 60 minute wait. I can't find any help from this company searching Google. Kind makes me wonder about roku. Why would they partner with them. Its going back ASAP.

You can do better.

Purchased this thinking the picture would be slightly below a Samsung but I was willing to give there for the the feature this one has that enables live tv rewind. But wow, the picture was bad. Think of watching video through the protective screen that comes on the screen of new electronics. Could not get a good crisp picture no matter the settings. Next complaint is the the up scaling of of non 4k video is not good either. I took the set back and instead purchased a Samsung costing 300 more but oh what a difference! Super clear pic and vibrant colors. QN65Q6FNAFXZA. I owned a 1600 dollar Sony that had an awesome pic but it went bad. I just could not handle the inferior picture. If this is your first 4k tv then it should be fine as you've not gotten used to an awesome picture quality.

2. Actually, this 65R617 has an RF (radio frequency) remote with a voice control mic. The 65R615 at BestBuy has no voice control and uses and IF (InfaRed) remote that you have to point at the screen.
