Bought this 40S325 to use in my home office. I paired it up with a TCL Alto 7 soundbar, and after turning on the tv, going through the set-up, updates; signing into my Roku account, I was actually more than pleased with the picture quality. I expected the clarity and overall quality of the picture to be just "ok", considering that this is a "Bargain" model, with definitely a bargain price. Though I definitely won't go as far as to compare it to the 65S625 in my living room, I have absolutely no problem watching OTA, DVD or Streaming on this tv. 5 stars, not because it's an "out of this world" TV, but because, for the price, it far exceeded my expectations.

I haven't had my tv that long so far I like it. The remote is AWFUL and very frustrating to use.I finally took the remote that went with my roku stick and paired it with my tv,so much better. I don't know if I'm missing any features on my tv buy using the stick remote but I really don't care.
Good After An Initial Issue
I had an existing 55 inch Roku TCL that I was very happy with, so I chose this when I needed to replace my 40 inch set in another room. Looking at different store displays, I found the TCL picture much more vibrant than that of the similarly priced Hisense model. There was one problem when I got this set, however. The remote control was very nonresponsive. After some experimentation, I discovered that the problem was not with the remote itself, but rather with the IR receiver within the set. Accordingly, I had to return the set I purchased from Walmart and buy a new one. A hassle, but at least the new set worked properly. Am happy with the picture so far.
Good TV With Inconsistent Remote
I like everything about this 40" TCL TV except the remote. The design of the remote is fine, but executing commands with the remote is very inconsistent and therefore frustrating. I didn't have this problem with the 32" or the 43", so it could be a problem with this remote or with this particular model TV.
Don't buy TCL!
Excited to get my first TCL tv as the reviews were good and the price is right. First you had to push the remote buttons several times to get a reaction. Called and waited forever due to a “recent sales promo”. After finally getting thru went thru the no I'm not an idiot questioning. FINALLY they agreed to send a new remote. DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM! Now I'm having issues keeping it connected to the internet! Average about 78mps on my high speed internet. No other connection problems with any other items. So I guess if you don't mind hitting your remote button several times to get a reaction and you don't mind constantly reconnecting to the internet this is your tv. By the way, tried calling again, about a month after purchase only to be told high traffic due to recent sales promotion again. No separate customer service line I guess, more concern over selling than helping paying customers. Very disappointed and will NEVER recommend or purchase from them again!
