This product seem to have it all. Two bowls, beaters and dough hooks, tilting head, good looks, and a great price...........then came the clean up. The bowls have a rubber gasket on the bottom to keep them on the stand. The gasket is attached with 3 screws. Directions say wash bowls in warm soapy water. What it doesn't say is THE BASE OF THE BOWL SOMEHOW IS HOLLOW, LEAKS, AND FILLS WITH WATER........AND.......It won't come out. But the water is definitely sloshing around in the base of the bowl. Eventually it will evaporate, but I'm thinking rust or mold growth from the inside out. Hope they correct this because other than that it could be a good product. I am returning it this week and will not be exchanging it for another. This is definitely a design flaw.

After reading the reviews that were posted at the time, and finding them very positive for this particular model, I ordered the Sunbeam Heritage Series Silver 4.6 Qt. Mixmaster Stand Mixer, 2354. I have now attempted four times to use it, on an 8" cake; on a pound cake; on a 9" X 12" yellow cake; and on a loaf of quick bread. The only one of these that the stand rotated properly was the angel food cake. The rest barely moved, now and then, even though I tried different mixing speeds. None of these batters got even halfway mixed: the only parts that did were the centers, and even then the bottom ingredients were left untouched. I did try to keep cleaning the sides of the bowl while the mixer was running (and I was turning it by hand), but could still could not get the out-of-center ingredients mixed in without stopping several times to mix them in manually. This was a frustrating and time-wasting process. I could live with the other problems (the ejecter and tilt buttons are hard to use, but the mixing ability of this MIXER is a joke . NOTE: I don't know why the Silver model of this series got such good reviews. The other colors in the series got terrible ones, leading me to believe there was something consistently different about the Silver. I really wanted a stand mixer and the price was right, except that the design is a total failure.

Yes you have to scrape the sides of the bowl. You also have to scrape the sides of the $300 mixers unless you buy an aftermarket beater for about half what this mixer costs to scrape the sides for you. There is about 1/4 in the middle that the beaters don't touch, that is a problem requiring the mixer to be shut off to get to. So far it is the only problem I've had. Not being able to adjust the bowl like on the old ones makes this problem worse. You also have to hold the bowl back, which I recall having to do on my 70's model. First thing I did was make a single batch of cookies. Other than not mixing the bottom of the bowl it was everything I expected from 350 watts. Then I made pizza dough for 2 pizzas. That impressed me. I kneaded longer than I had to and it didn't have a problem overheating. It did want to walk across the counter on the higher speeds, then I noticed where it said "knead" on the speed dial and it did much better. Which brings me to the instructions, what instructions. I would expect at least some warnings about how much to put into it. No wonder people are burning them up with double batches. I mainly use a stand mixer for long slow stirs of cheesecake and this one handles that fine. I do wish it came with both bowls, and my old Mixmaster bowls do not fit. The head not coming off makes it not fit in the cabinet where my old one fit so more wasted counter space. It's more than I expected so far from the reviews, but slightly less than I expected from my previous model. From the reviews I expected it not to knead pizza dough, which is why I'm making pizza the same day I bought it. I have about 6 months to go on my warranty and haven't had any reason to question if it will last. I wouldn't use a Kitchenaid enough before their warranty was over to give it a good test. If you have a use for a $300 mixer by all means get it. If you don't this one will do the job.

I have had this mixer for about 3 years, and in that time, I've used it 7 times. Yes, only 7 times because this thing is worthless. My friend who is a baker was over at my house helping me make a cake, and she couldn't believe how terrible this is. When I purchased this, I was excited. I would have a nice stand mixer at a fraction of the cost of the other brand. There's a reason for this. You have to constantly shove the ingredients down just to get them to mix. And don't believe the reviewer who said you have to do this with the really expensive brand, its simply not true. While mixing ingredients for dough, it didn't mix evenly, and I ended up with dough all the way up on the chassis of the mixer, not to mention the beaters were covered with it. I'm just very disappointed in the Sunbeam brand by this mixer. They need to quit making it.

This mixer looks nice sitting on my counter, but beyond that it works very well. The mixer has kept up with all of our baking needs. It also cleans up easily.

I purchased this mixer two years ago. I have had to replace it under warranty three times. Each time the mixing head burns up and quites working. It has not seen a lot of heavy duty work or kneading just simple things like cake mixes or cookies. Each time the product has filled the kitchen with a burned gear oil smell. The third mixer has just quit and the company refuses to stand behind the product. Told me I must be mis-using the product and that it is out of warranty.

This is a joke of a mixer!! I have the black one and it is a waste of time to use. I have tried it a few times now and I always end up mixing by hand because this mixer does not mix, it just moves the ingredients around the bowl, and only if you feel like turning the bowl and scraping the sides the whole time. Awful product, please don't buy it.

I wanted a Kitchen-Aid mixer for a long time, I decided to try the Sunbeam instead. I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoy this mixer! I bake a lot, especially during the holidays and it is awesome. Save the $200 and get this mixer. I've been using this mixer for 3 years now and love it!

I inherited my grandmother's Sunbeam mixer from the 50's, which sadly no longer has speed control. I bought this one to replace it and its just as good as hers. It mixes well, is easy to clean and looks nice on the counter. I would highly recommend this item to anyone, from novice to seasoned baker, as it really performs well and is easy to use. With the dough hooks, its also great for making bread.
