I shopped around for stand mixers, before buying this one. A more well known brand, the K brand was out of my price range,so I knew I needed something cheaper, but durable. Just before Christmas,I found this one onsale for 79.99. I scooped it up! Having never owned a big mixer before,it took me a few uses to get used to it. I very much like that you can mix at the same time you add items to the bowl.you do have to scrape down the sides when your mixing things, but a flat silicone spatula works great! It makes great mirenge, pound cake, even simple brownie mixes. If I had known how often, and how many things I would mix with this mixer,I would have bought one ten years ago. I love not having to to muscle thick batters or doughs anymore! I plan on using this mixer for a long time! My grandmother has a similar model and loves hers too! I really reccomend this mixer! It will pay for itself in time saving, and ease of use! My only complaint is that the button to release the beaters is kind of hard to press,BUT,the beaters do not fly out once the button is pressed.

I have had my sunbeam mixer for approx. 4 yrs. I bake alot throughout the year and this mixer is great. For those who complain about the bowl wobbling, in the directions you are to turn the bowl to lock it, an put the beaters in properly in order for the bowl to go around. Yes scraping the sides will be needed, but it is very easy as the bowl goes around as you scrape. I do not double many recipes just because I prefer to get many years out of this mixer, but it is so convenient to put in the ingredients I do not mind making 10 batches all seperate. This is a great mixer for holiday baking, as my kids can dump in the ingredients as I measure. Another positive is the opening from the mixer to the bowls is a good amount to be able to scrape if needed the edges. In all my years of cooking I have never seen a mixer stand or hand that is able to reach all edges of the bowl without scraping with a rubber scraper. So I am rather confused on the complaints of this mixer. Think they must be chronic complainers or always need the best, because this stand mixer is great! Currently purchasing another for my mother who is an avid baker, as well as my sister for Xmas.Sure they will also truly enjoy this great product.

I'm a little surprised by some of the reviews on this product. The real reason you would buy this mixer, is the value. Most of us only use a stand mixer once or twice a month, if this is your case you can't go wrong here. For the money, you can't beat it (no pun intended). It does everything I expected it to do. It beats cake batters silky smooth and will knead a clean ball of bread dough with no sticking or wobbling. The controls and buttons are very user friendly if you take your time and approach the mixer with a little common sense. An experienced baker will find this mixer does everything they need very efficiently and easily. I was very pleased with my purchase AND the money I saved.

This beautiful stand mixer was the least expensive of all I researched, in-store and online. It is solid, sturdy, well finished, good power in the motor but I find that kneading in the little bowl (comes with two bowls) feels a bit wobbly. I suggest you knead in the large one. Also I hope to find sometime soon, other accesories, like a whisk that will fit it.

My wonderful husband bought this for me mothers day 2010. I feel bad because I dont like it. It doesnt mix things without a lot of babysitting with spatula in hand. The sides of the bowl constantly have to be scraped because ingredients get thrown there and the beaters don't touch it. If you dont have a large amount of ingredients in the bowl, it won't mix it. For example, you can't beat only two egg whites. It does so so with bread dough, surprisingly. Whipping cream doesn't whip evenly. Frosting is okay if you constantly stop and scrape. It can't handle a stiff dough. And after six months of use, the beaters knock together. But, hey, it looks cool. In the end, its a lot of extra work scraping down the sides of the bowl. If you cant afford a good kitchen aid, you would be better off getting a good hand mixer; it would be less time consuming. I am an experienced cook and baker. Rarely going out to eat and having 5 kids gives me plenty of experience!

I was all excited in getting my first stand mixer when I bought this product. I took it home, set it up and proceeded to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies. First thing I noticed that the mixer was (or was not) doing was it was not mixing the ingredients well. I kept having to move the bowl around manually on its trivet and scraping the ingredients into the mixers themselves... When the cookies came out of the oven, I was very unhappy with the results. You could taste that the ingredients were not mixed well and you could see that the chocolate chips werent mixed in well either. Giving it the benefit of the doubt (and beginners luck with the stand mixer itself) I tried out a few other recipes and had the same results. With all the manual mixing that I had to do when using the stand mixer, I would have been better off just mixing everything by hand in the first place. The biggest downside with this mixer, aside from not mixing well is the flat bottom of the mixing bowl. With the mixing area of the mixers and the size of the bottom of the bowl being as big as it is, it is a definate design flaw. I have only had this item for maybe 4 months. Since I dont have the box nor receipt for this mixer anymore, I am currently trying to sell it elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and dont buy this mixer!

When I read the reviews on this mixer I was surprised. My Mom has the Sunbeam and I have used it numerous times. The price difference is phenomenal and so is the bargain. The bowl is not wobbly when you slide it into place (seems obvious to me) and the durability is great. I use mine at least once a day.

if you can't afford a KITCHENAID, this will probably suit your needs as long as you have a rubber spatula to keep ingredients pushed in to the beaters. I probably would spend the extra $$ for the kitchenaid next time but not the 250 watt model sold at wal-mart

I have the 1950's model. I was very disappointed at how sunbeam is now lacking in some of the features and the overall strength of the product. The bowl tray is plastic. I do not recommend mixing dough in this, when you go to mix dough, the bowl jumps all around the spinner. The buttons are very hard to push. The overall style of the machine is beautiful, but looks can be deceptive. I'm very disappointed with sunbeam concerning this product. Its better to save your money and buy a 1950's one some where else.

Only one bowl in my box, No instructions and no recipe book. Said CD inside but it was not there. Tried to make bread but the bowl jumped all over the place. Made terrible noise. I tried a cake batter but it didn't get mixed well and I had to finish it with my hand mixer. Everything seems to glaum up around the beaters while the majoroty of the mix is stuck to the bowl and not mix. Very hard buttons to lift the mixer. Takes some doing. My Mother had one from the 50's and it was great. I would take it back but it was a gift. It will have a place in the cabinet along with the other unusable appliances.
