I got a chance to try this monitor as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. Overall, I think it’s a good system. It’s a really good, dependable monitor but missing some key features.
Large, high resolution picture on handheld unit
Easy to add cameras: We have two kids, a toddler and a baby, and we need two cameras. We had no problem buying and setting up a second camera. The monitor switches easily between the two, giving us peace of mind.
Excellent quality digital zoom: Sometimes it’s important to see whether the toddler is wearing pants (nope) or whether the baby is breathing (yup!)
Night vision: The night vision on our previous video monitor didn’t do much, but the night vision mode on this is very good quality. I can easily see what I need to see, like where the pacifier is or whether baby is really upset or just bored and wanting some attention
Good range between the camera and the handheld unit: I can be out on our deck or in the yard and still be able to check on the kids with no problem
Clear sound: I can hear exactly what my toddler is saying, no Charlie Brown teacher voice!
Energy saving mode (the screen automatically turns off after 5 minutes to preserve battery life): The battery life is already very good, but this feature extends it even more.
Nightlight: This is great for us since we live in an older house with very few outlets. Two for one!
No pan/tilt from the handheld unit. We had this with our last monitor and it was a really nice feature once baby is mobile or for larger rooms
No temperature sensor: Since we live in an older house, our a/c is a bit spotty. It would be nice to be able to check on whether the room is too warm or too cool
No two way talk
