NOT spider proof!

I make very nice high quality pens out of exotic woods and turn small bowls and other items from exotic woods and sell them at craft shows. I bought three of these containers to hold the pens in their display cases and some of the other items that I sell. I bought them for the locking lid that would seal them shut and the way they can be stacked saving space. I had to leave the three container stored in the closed in porch of my fathers house this spring and summer while building a new workshop and storage shed. When I finished my workshop building and brought them home you can imagine my surprise when I was showing the items in them to my next door neighbor and found several large spider egg sacks on several items in each container! Even with the lids securely latched and the containers stacked on each other with some smaller containers placed on the top of the stack to help hold the lid down tight on the top one, some how spiders still managed to get into every one of the containers! I had just had them all open checking to make sure everything was still where it should be only a week or two before showing what's in them to my neighbor and everything was fine. Somehow with the lids latched closed with the things on the handles on the ends and enough weight siting on them they should have been held down nice and tight. Some how spiders still managed to get in them. One of my pen display cases, a small case about 8"x16" when closed, was so covered with spider webbing and egg sacks I had to use a large flat blade screw driver to pry it open. From all appearances and closely looking over these containers before I bought them I would have sworn that they would have been bug proof. But they most definitely are not bug proof! Or at least not spider proof! And I figure that if spiders can get into them then other bugs can too. So as just a general storage container I would only recommend storing them in a bug and spider free area. If you plan on putting them in a outside storage building, like a rental storage space, I would suggest NOT putting anything in them that you don't want the bugs to get to. If you need something for storage that's bug proof, find something else. If I find something that's bug proof I will come back and update this.
