Good price for good fun!
I wanted to see the 2 night original again before the new movie version is released. Is it cheesy and a bit hokey? Absolutely. Are the special effects lame compared to today's? You bet but there is no one who does a creepy, menacing clown better than Tim Curry. They should have stuck with him and skipped the monster. The young actors do a great job and their story is the best part of the series even though I love Richard Thomas. So good to see him, John Ritter, Tim Reid and the rest again. I highly recommend listening to the commentary especially the second half. It is fun listening to them talk about the production. Just as a heads up since I saw so many comments about only getting half the movie, the DVD is two-sided. Flip it over for the second half.

IT
This movie was played in my home and upon putting it in the DVD player displayed a length time of 133 min. The back of the movie states a running time of 187 min. The movie was watched through the length duration and was not the complete movie. Very disappointed. I ended up purchasing on Apple TV to watch the entire movie.

Good horror movie

I saw "IT" years ago as a TV miniseries. I really liked it, and it's become my favorite horror movie. It is based on a novel by Stephen King. I am not a big fan of Stephen King, especially his movies. They tend to be a bit "over-the-top" and have more horror than I care to deal with. This movie is more than a horror story. It's also about the bond between the characters and how having "IT" come into their lives affects them. Since it was made for TV it does not have a rating. I suggest you watch it before letting any kids see it. The villain is a "clown" and it can be pretty scary to some people- not just kids. I never did like clowns anyway!

1. I don't believe it is rated R, it was a made-for-television movie, which in today's standards would be rated TV14, at most. There is no violence, but it a little scarey for the young ones. The premise of the story is about the murder of several children - which is a horrible subject, to say the least. There is a suicide scene with blood and an open-eyed corpse, so that can leave some impressions as well. I wouldn't recommend this for any child under 10, unless you want to sleep with them for a week and have them scared of clowns.

2. At the time this movie was released it was scary. Their is some blood in it. Of course today I dont think it isnt as graphic as newer movies. But not a horror to miss. To this day I still dont like clowns...

4. scary, blood, death.

5. Language and violence and murder would be the reasons for the R Rating. It is a great movie, but not for the little ones at all and in all honesty not for the ones under 18 really.
by JonAFVet48
6. the reason it's rated r because of the violence and disturbing imagery in the motion picture
by Horrorsoftheworld
7. The one I have is not rated, but it has a PG Canadian home rating. There are some bloody scenes, scary scenes and some cursing. The gory parts aren't very realistic.I think too, one man committs suicide in it.
by OnlyMyKids
8. Because of the graphics.
by Gammie1218
9. Because it's SCARY!! (my copy is actually NR). The blurb is "the Master of Horror unleashes everything you were ever afraid of" (Master of Horror= Stephen King). It is scary!!
by nomorenamesleft
10. Well its not only rated R because of language, but steven king has some pretty scary stuff in all of his movies, some of his movies have alot of gore in them.
by DanceIsMyObsession
11. I think it is the content. It's about children being abducted etc. Plus it has that darn clown and I hate clowns but it fits for this movie.
