An Excellent Coffee Press
This is the answer I have been looking for. I love rich coffee, but camping and traveling make it a challenge to have great rich coffee. Both percolated and instant coffee are barely okay. A glass french press can make excellent coffee, but they are delicate and don't pack very well. The Stanley is the answer. It is rugged and packs well. Another thing is this unit just can't get damaged. This unit is well built with amazing quality. There is a reason Stanley backs their products with a lifetime warranty. It keeps the coffee hot for hours. I was a little worried that the coffee would turn foul with the coffee grinds remaining pressed at the bottom of the cup while you drink it. I have used this press countless times, and this is not an issue and the coffee remains excellent to the final drop. I was skeptical at first about paying over $25 (with tax) for this press, but after some fairly rigorous testing, I'm convinced this was a steal and is an incredible value. I strongly recommend this press to campers, travelers, or anyone on the go who wants great coffee. For those not familiar with making coffee with a press, make sure watch how-to videos on youtube. It's quite simple. Enjoy!
The counter-top coffee maker is gathering dust..
I bought the Stanley Travel Press on a lark, I figured I'd use it as a travel mug, and if it made a decent cup of coffee all the better. Much to my delight the Stanley Travel Press excels in both areas. Use of this system couldn't be simpler. I use a cheap brand of canned coffee. Remove the press, and add near boiling water. Add the coffee. Stir, then wait the desired amount of time. I stir again, then run the press slowly to the bottom to trap the grounds. IMHO, this press makes an excellent cup of coffee. For my taste I use 2Tbs coffee, and wait about 6 minutes. The Stanley Travel Press has been a money saver. I no longer need to dump half a pot of coffee every morning, or pay coffee shop prices. I figure by the time I finished a pound of coffee, this press had more than paid for itself in savings. What's more, if I can find or make hot water, I can make FRESH coffee. The only downside to this unit is that I feel the need to transfer the coffee to another cup while I remove the press and clean out the grounds if I want to use it as a travel mug. I figure if I want to sip coffee on a long commute the soaking grounds will make the coffee stronger and more bitter. This is not a big deal for me, as it takes all of 30 seconds to disassemble and rinse out the grounds and pour the coffee back. In my opinion, the Stanley Travel Press more than meets my needs and expectations. I recommend it as a good value.
2 years of use
I purchased this press 2 years ago and I have used it almost daily since. First durability of these mugs are phenomenal I have taken it on every camping trip, dropped it multiple times, it's been exposed to the elements from -20 to 100 degrees and it hasnt suffered much wear at all. It does its job keeping things hot or cold. As for the french press I wish they would of constructed it from some type of stainless steel rather then plastic however, the plastic is extremely durable. As for the price I believe its unbeatable for the quality of the press I would easily pay double what they asking for. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quality mug or pres.
GET ONE if you like coffee and convenience!
I just started using a French press at home to make coffee, but I work on the road so I was pretty excited when I saw this. Yes it was pricey but you can't beat it for making coffee a cup at a time at whatever strength you prefer. Also it is tough as nails!
I love this! At first I was worried about negative reviews planted on other site, until I figured out all the bad reviews were the same and most likely planted. They say things like the lid broke after I dropped it etc. Well its not the products fault you were clumsy! This item was easy to use and brews great coffee and it stays hot, maybe not for the 4 hrs claimed but for a good long time. I was concered about the coffee being left in the bottom after it was pressed, I was worried that it would keep brewing and taste bad. I was wrong, it made no difference, Buy one you will LOVE it
Nice piece of kit, Makes great sludge free coffee
Does what it says. Good seal on the press. Lid hinge seems fragile as the one I picked up was broken. Walmart let me trade it for one on the shelf.
What a nice surprise
Bought this as my coffee pot was packed in a box I didnt have access to. This made absolutely great coffee. Keeps coffee hot for hours!! Still use it around the house as my pets knock over lotsa things and this is spillproof and no worries about my pets getting burned or having to clean up.
Lost my Lid!
Love the quality "better than ever" coffee (My favorite coffeeto use is Walmart's "Seattles Best" 'Organic,Free Trade,Dark Roast' ...but I have lost my lid! can still press coffee but now carry it in a "Brand X Mug" doesn't compare to keeping it HOT!..!?
Risk of scaalding
One of the good things about this coffee maker is a very fine mesh so that even small grounds do not get in to the coffee. This leads to a problem though. Pressing can be quite slow and if you push too hard it can squirt out and scald the hand that holds it. It happened to me and it was sore for a few days. Otherwise it is an excellent unit.
