Good product, but it will come bent

This is good protection for under $100, maybe the best. The weak point of security lockers like these is the back and side seams and corners, which are inside the wall on this unit. You would have to spend a lot more money to get improved security. The front face flanges that cover the rough hole in the wall will come bent at at least one corner and the finish will be chipped off where there is damage. I was lucky to get only one corner this way, and i would recommend in-store pickup to minimize this packaging problem. Could use a better lock, i'm going to look into that. Install went in well, fit very well with no shims needed to lock it tight between wall studs. Tips: Do NOT use the included lag screws, buy some steel ones at a hardware store, preferably with a hex head you can use a socket on. I put some lag screws through the holes at the self ends to make them strong enough to hold ammo boxes bringing the total lag screws up to 12. I Cut some 2x4x10" and used them as legs inside the wall with a horizontal 2x4x14" at the top, creating kind of a shelf for the cabinet to sit on and hold up the cabinet off the drywall, this helped with the install but I also think it is a good idea for the cabinet over time.
Inconspicuous looking?3 full shelves and the small shelf at bottom with standard length tactical rifle

A good value, but a little small.

We have this for a couple of rifles that we ant to lock up but do not have the space for a floor safe. This is a nice option however, it is a little small. The safe width is only 14" which I was anticipating more since 16" studs are standard. Either way, the installation is about what I expected even though I needed some additional lumber to compensate for the narrowness between the studs. A word of caution to those who plan on ordering this online. The way that these are packed, it will almost certainly have shipping damage. The flanges on the outside part are not protected from being dropped on the corners and thus will be bent. I have one corner that was bent. It wasn't too bad, but the paint was chipped some and after I bent it back, it doesn't look perfect. I didn't really care because it is in a closet so it doesn't need to look great. If you care about how it looked, I would suggest going someplace to buy it because it won't arrive being shipped looking perfect. From the 1st picture, it doesn't look like there would be any damage or problems, but the second picture show what happened to the flange.

Almost get what you pay for.

Good idea...a nice secure place to store a couple long guns without taking up valuable floor space around the home. And it's not something that can be picked up out of a garage and hauled away. The stealthy nature of the product also allowed me to install it in our master bedroon closet with no loss of space and easy access. Now for the problems. This product is almost guaranteed to arrive damaged in some way due to the poor nature of the packaging. This isn't WalMart's fault...Stack On only protected it with 1/2" of styrofoam. I'm attaching photos to show the damage to my unit. Functionally it's not a problem, but it's disappointing cosmetically. Second, this cabinet is small inside...14" wide by 3" deep. I could fit a Benelli M4 and AR-15 (both with mounted optics) inside with some jostling, but that's about it. As other reviewers said, the included shelves will hold a box or two of ammo and that's about it. Finally, because the unit is 14" wide and most studs are 16"o.c., you should have some pieces of wood handy to shim the open space and create a solid fit. It's a decent buy for the money (got mine for $78) and serves it's stated purpose fine. For those who care about country of origin, this product is Made in China.

    gun cabinet

easy to install, flush to the wall, and solid lock. not the thickest or the most secure if you are using it as a gun cabinet, but it does the job as an in-the-wall hiding place for two rifles (at the most) or a few pistols. I plan on hanging a tapestry or frame over the cabinet to conceal it. the lock has 3 points of security, top bottom and middle. the shelves (comes with 3 full width and 1 half width shelves) are flimsy, but can be made more secure by installing your own screws to the sides of the cabinet.

    Excellent Value!

For $75 delivered, this gun cabinet can't be beat. It looks great in the wall and is pretty easy to install. It looks like a breaker box, so i'll be sticking a few high voltage decals on it so it might possibly deter a thief. It may not be a true safe, but it's hidden and it locks, so it gives me peace of mind when guest are present with children. Several things to remember: 1) It's a locking cabinet, not a safe. That said, it's as good as a safe in my mind. Unless the thief is a lock pick, this thing will take awhile to get into. Thieves don't typically stick around too long. I'm sure it wouldn't survive a fire either. 2) It's not very deep. Don't plan on storing an arsenal in it. Depending on your imagination, it will hold 2 long guns, a few magazines, a little ammo and a pistol or 2. Nonetheless, It was $75 for crying out loud. Buy 2 if you need more storage space. I'm using 2 of the 4 shelves it came with. 3) Drywall makes a lot of dust, plan accordingly. 4) This is very important! Make absolutely sure there's no wires between the studs where you want to install it. I was 100% sure my install location was wire free. D'oh! I found the motherload of wires coming to my upstairs bedroom. However, If you do screw up like myself, there's just enough of a gap between the cabinet and the studs to make it work, but be careful and expect to spend more time on what is typically a super easy install.
