I am extremely pleased with my purchase of the Sportsman Sandstorm 4000. Started right up on the 2nd pull. It runs my 5th wheel with no problems. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a generator. VERY AWESOME it runs on propane or gas.
I have the green 4000w sportsman dual fuel. Hands a down worth a look. On propane the unit is very smooth running and quiet for the money I use it on job sites. Runs smooth under power loads. Use the choke even when warm. Starts right up with light pull first time every time.
Great generator! Decided to put wheels under generator. Went to Lowes and bought 2@Stanley heavy duty slide bolts(see pictures) and cut off sliding bolt. Used brackets to support 1/2 inch rod. used 4@ 1 inch u-bolts to support brackets (Ace Hardware). Very sturdy! and no welding!!
GREAT PRODUCT .. BEST PRICE ON THE INTERNET- DUAL FUEL IS IMPORTANT. .IT STARTED IMMEDIATELY. RAN PRETTY QUIET, EFFICIENT ON BOTH TYPES OF FUEL. I BOUGHT A PALLET FOR 12 DOLLARS AT HARBOR FREIGHT. I ADDED A PIECE OF PLYWOOD BETWEEN THE GENERATOR AND THE PALLET. THEN I SCREWED IT TOGETHER. EASY TO MOVE . WITH THE PALLET. GENERATOR IS 90 POUNDS.
The fact that you can use duel fuel, the exhaust fumes are less potent with propane. There is a propane port at the back of my camper so when we stop and there is no electric , voila !! I would recommend this for all applications , home and on the road.
So Amazing in how easy it started in 12 degree weather I ordered another for my other RV. Its 1 pull to start, 2 if your not very aggressive in your pulls.
So far, over 250 hours on my first one, the second one will replace a 4000 Onan in the same location!
Haven't had to use it yet. Did crank with Propane. Four pulls not bad for first start. It's not lite weight. Needs rollers or wheels to make it easier to move it around. Hand trucks come in handy. To me I have seen new riding mowers that they have gotten really quiet. These could be a little quieter with a different kind of muffler. It is a little nosie. Plus it says 4000 watts it's really 3500 watts. But I do like the dual fuel. Although they won't let you run 85 in it. 87 and higher only. Makes me have to drive out further for gas. BJS warehouse thats 3 miles away only has 85 and 93.
okay so I got it in a nice time fashion only took about three days to show up. ran through my first tank of fuel Without any problems. change the oil as instructed and started my second tank of fuel the next day morning went fine at about 4 hours run time but that evening when I went to restart it although the engine fire it up real nice like it should have there was absolutely no power output AC or DC both Breakers were fine and tested good. will update when I get a replacement and see what kind of service issues there are with the exchange. I own a 2001 that has had some minor issues lost DC output but AC works good Found A Fault In the valve design but company replaced all necessary parts to get it running again on the AC at least. I think this is just a fluke material or system failure
This generator has reverse polarity.
I found out after using my G-N bonding plug to eliminate the "no ground" fault with my Progressive EMS50X.
Then the reverse polarity showed up and I found the gold lines hooked to the silver neutrals and it ends up wrong on the 30 amp rv plug.
A simple 180* rotation of the rv plug lets you hook the wires correctly and also lets you plug in an rv cable a lot easier than having the bar in the way.
I sent emails to the manufacturer and they did reply but nobody seemed to care.
Buyer beware if you have sensitive electronics in your rv
