This is a great game if you like puzzles, codes etc. What I like the most is that hints are included and the time is specified on each hint when to use it. So the game progressed nicely as we never got too frustrated if we couldn't get it. We did use a few but not all hints. Without the hints the game would be very frustrated and sometimes even impossible if you are on the wrong track. Another nice feature is that it comes with four rooms (i.e. Four scenerios) each one is supposed to be one hour. We only played the first one, the prison break. The game was played with two adults and three kids ages 13, 15 and 10. The ten year old got bored quickly, but the rest of us enjoyed it.

Spin Master Games - Escape Room The Game is a winner
I played this game with my son who is 19 and my daughter who is 20. We set everything up and grabbed a flashlight and a calculator that was recommended. It came with everything except the flashlight and the calculator, and we really did use those items so I would suggest players have them handy. The game comes with an electronic device that counts down as the players solve clues that involve basic geometry. I really liked this as it was a fun way to instill math skills. Upon solving the clues, with the help of hint cards to be drawn at different intervals of the game, you are led to solve the mystery of selecting the right sequence of keys to 'Escape'. The game was an hour long, and the time just flew by, all of us that played remarked on this. It really draws you in and pulls you into the plot. It wasn't mindless entertainment, this game really makes you think, not only with the basic geometry but you are using problem solving skills. I can see where this game could in fact exercise the mind and be beneficial. I recommend it, but like the box says it is definitely a 16 and up game. An hour goes by quick...
My husband and i were looking for a game that we could play alone, that was a little different then the usual cards and board games. We are both fans of escape room games in general, and thought this would be fun to try. At first we didn't know what to expect, but as you get into the game, things start to fall into place. Really fun, and the only reason i won't give it 5 stars is because there is no replay value. You could possibly give the game to someone else to try, but that won't work with all of the sections. Anyway, ir really makes you think!
We love escape rooms so we thought we would try this out!! We did the easiest one and its not that easy!!! It was a lot of fun for something differnt to do!!! Just dont like how the last clues give you the answer just to move you through the game but i guess when you dont have a live person coaching....what more can you do?! Great game overall!! :)
Interesting, intriguing and Fun
This game is a very well thought out game that is so interesting and fun. Playing this game with a group of friends is a great way to spend an evening. You can try to escape the different rooms and decode the way out. You will really enjoy finding a way to get out. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
The Escape Room
I received this game for free from BzzAgent to play and review. After a complicated orientation, myself and three other players began the game by setting the Chrono Decoder which starts counting backward from 60 minutes. This is the amount of time you have to escape the room. Initially, it was slow going as the rules and set up were complicated. The first two parts of level one were completely with all four players clamoring for clues and throwing out ideas. It was a bit chaotic but we were still enjoying ourselves. To be honest, if it weren't for the clues during the game, we would have never solved any part of level one (the easiest). After solving part two, we moved on to part 3. At this point two of the players bowed out and became spectators. My 15 year old son and I continued on with part 3, the most difficult of level one. The flow of the game was much more of a partnership and teamwork. There wasn't any talking over each other or grabbing for clues to try to understand (not in a competitive way, merely wanting to solve the game as soon as possible). We actually finished the game with seven minutes left. Quite impressive if I do say so myself (my son is a genius at things like this!). He and I played the other three levels. I don't know if it's age or what, but I had a hard time keeping up. He sailed right on through. I enjoyed playing with him and watching his logical and critical thinking skills at work. Overall, this game is enjoyable once you get past the complicated rules and setup. I would play it again. However, I recommend only two or three players at most. I hope this helps and that you too can master The Escape Room! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Not As Advertised
Not as pictured. I returned it because it was a three escape room set, not the four rooms in the picture.
