It's exactly what you hope for when you buy cheap furniture. It looks better than the picture in the ad, has more storage than expected for the price, is sturdy, and the drawers slide effortlessly and silently. The only downside is that it took 3 hours to assemble. Once it was all put together I very happy with my purchase!
I got 2. The first one took me a little longer to put together because the booklet does not show that there are two sizes of the same looking pieces. The second one took about 40 minutes to an hour to put together. The drawers are pretty deep. If you had one of those plastic "dressers" before, you would be pleased to know that this dresser's drawers are deeper. The reason why I gave it four stars is because the drawer handles look shiny in the picture but they have more of a cast iron look to them in the real life, and also some of the drawers lock/ stop in the middle of opening/closing them. Not a big problem but sometimes it gets annoying. It doesn't happen that often so that's OK . One of my dressers had a red long smeared stain on it which, thankfully, wiped off with no problem. Overall, this is a pretty good dresser and I would recommend it to anyone .
I ordered 2 of these dressers for my daughter's room. Dressers made from these materials and not "real" wood always get mixed reviews. I've had 2 dressers before made from the same stuff and haven't had any problems. These dressers arrived on time and the boxes were in great shape. No damage or missing parts. I assembled the 2nd dresser in half the time it took me to do the first, so once you know what you are doing, it isn't that hard. I didn't have a problem building on my own either, but be prepared to invest several hours. The final product looks great. The drawers are more shallow than what they look like on the outside of the dresser. I am happy with the purchase.
Dresser came as a part of a set of 4 drawer, 3 drawer, and night stand. Unfortunately the 4 drawer came with 3 different colors of wood in the packaging (black, cherry, and walnut colors) and it was all supposed to be black. The 3 drawer had a part of a drawer board that was drilled incorrectly so we had to make it work and find a make-shift way to put it together which decreased the weight capacity that the drawer can hold. It was unfortunate. We made everything work because my daughter needed somewhere to put her things after just moving in and school starting. It worked but was not thrilled with the packaging flaws
The top panel was cracked through an attachment point when I unpacked it. The outer cardboard packaging had no signs of rough handling that would indicate that it was damaged during shipping. Fortunately, though, it didn't make assembling it impossible. A little wood glue, a clamp, some sandbags, and ingenuity cultivated as an aircraft structural repairer made it work. We buy from Walmart for the price, not the quality, though, so I can't complain too much.
There's a huge whitish streak across the top. It was that way when it arrived. It's a lot smaller than I expected too. The drawers are way shallower than I thought. It took me about 4 hours total to out together; 2 hours on frame and 2 Hours on drawers. It says to not use a drill, but I'd highly suggest it. The screws & other hardware aren't labeled and I made a mistake putting one piece one. I had to back track, take it off, and do if correctly. I was glad I didn't strip the screws doing so. It's more sturdy than other particle board chests I've bought. I like the black color and silver hardware. The drawers are perfect for childrens clothes. I think adult sweaters & jeans would wear out the drawers quickly. The plastic tracks the drawers slide on kinda stick or give some resistance. But, I like that they have a "catch" so the drawer doesn't just pull all the way out. I was hoping to get each of my boys one for their room, but I'm going to give it a few weeks before i do. I will definitely be borrowing a drill if I do!
Customer reviews said it was a lot of work to put together and they were right on target. Instructions to put it together call for two people and that was also right on target. My wife had suggested we just try to find a chest at a yard sale. I should have listened to her. Probably would have been cheaper and probably real wood.
When the dresser arrived, I was shocked at how many pieces there were. The assembly manual claimed it would only take 1 hour to build, but it took about 2.5 or 3 hours. After checking I had all the parts, I noticed a lot of the wood was damaged, with severe scratches and markings. I didn't have time to wait for replacement parts, since I need a dresser in my new apartment, so I built it anyways. I cannot believe how cheap it looks! I truly don't understand how this dresser got so many decent reviews. There are MUCH NICER pieces from Ikea at comparable prices, and I really regret purchasing this. Worst of all, the drawers simply do not fit, so I am left with an ugly, cheap dresser that doesn't even work properly. DO NOT BUY! This is worth about $25, not $80.
I was very disappointed with this purchase. It was not too difficult to complete, just very time consuming, which I was prepared for after reading other customer reviews. My complaint is that the drawers lock after being opened about 2 inches and have to be lifted up and over the "stoppers" to open the drawer further, at which point the whole drawer will slide out onto the floor if you don't hold onto it. This it too much hassle for my 10 year old son. Also, the top drawer is not able to close properly, it sits about an inch open because it comes up over the lip of the top surface of the dresser. This was not a building mistake, just the way it is designed.
