Great Small Desk for the Price

I purchased this desk and a South SHore SoHo 6 drawer for my daughter's studio apartment at school. THey match great, and I put both items together by myself. The desk assembly of the desk was more difficult because of all of the pieces. The desk is quite small but I am very pleased for the value for the price.

This desk is better than I expected! It is completely sturdy great size it looks like it would be small from the pictures but its great! I have a desktop monitor with speakers and my laptop on it with little things here and there ( pen jar lamp ect..)and still have plenty of space. Usually products look better online so I was a little skeptical but this actually looks ten times better in person! My mom is going to buy the same one for her computer! I have other pieces from the south shore collection and this (in chocolate) matches them perfectly !! You wont regret buying this desk you wont beat the price! No cons about it from me! P.s. It says this is for a child's room but don't let that stop you I am not a child and I love love love this desk. I am sure its also great for a child but it is also sophisticated as well!

I bought this desk as a Christmas present for my son. I made sure to have my husband put it together well before Christmas in case there were any problems. Thank goodness we did. Everything was fine until he assembled the desk drawer. It was clearly cut incorrectly which made it not close properly at all. After he took it apart again and got out a level - you could clearly see the lines were cut crooked - he had to get out his saw and recut the grooves for the drawer front and sides. Luckily his handiwork worked. Desk drawer is now in working order. I also noticed there was some distressing around the edges of the desk - which were not supposed to be there - you could tell it wasn't on purpose..looked more like wear and tear. All of that being said - we kept the desk - it's for a 6 year old after all and was very affordable. Like I said though - you get what you pay for in this case. And unless your husband is handy - you may want to spend a little more for quality.

I just got this desk and I really like it. I had trouble deciding whether to order it or not because of the negative reviews, but I'm glad I ordered it. Overall, the quality of the desk is good. Sure, it does not look as expensive as a huge office desk would, but it does the trick. I also saw reviews stating that the desk fell apart and that it's not sturdy at all, which is not true. The desk seems pretty sturdy, that is of course if you actually took the time to assemble it appropriately. The instructions are not the greatest, and the desk does have a million pieces, but it took my husband around 45 minutes to finish assembling. I don't understand why people say that it is not worth the price. A desk for around $100 is a pretty good price I would say, noting the fact that desks are very expensive. This is supposedly a kids' desk, but don't let that fool you. It's the right size for an adult to use (petite or not) and it has enough space for a computer, printer, books, pens, etc. The finish is not the greatest, but you won't find any flaws unless you really try to look for them. Don't hesitate to buy the desk. The desk is worth the money, unless you're very picky and expect miracles for a $100.

We ordered this desk for my daughter to do her school work on. I shopped around everywhere looking for a good deal on a nice desk that would meet all our expectations. But, it was very hard. We found this one and we thought that it might be a bit too small but actually it was perfect. It is very sturdy and the wood is very thick. For the price that we paid I figured for sure that it would be flimsy and break easy. This was by far the best deal I have seen in a while. We love it! I definitely love the price!

    • A. You don't want to do that. The hutch is narrow not bolted on - there are 4 holes (2 at each end) in the hutch and the desk, and it connects with a peg in each of the holes. You can lift the hutch right off. I would not trust it with anything heavier than books and pencils.

    • A. Yes, it can. That is exactly what we did. Just skip that step when assembling. The predrilled holes will be visible but you can use probably fill them with some wood filler or just leave them as is. I personally don't think it takes away from the visual of the desk.

    • A. If you are asking if the desk has some type of fixture that will be seen if you leave off the tray, the answer is no. Its absolutely doable. All you would need to do is avoid that step of the construct. I wanted to place PC tower under the drawer so I didn't use shelf attachment.

    • A. Hammer and phillips screwdrivers. I found it necessary to have two different screwdriver head sizes. There was another tool that was mentioned (sorry but I tossed my paperwork away so I cannot tell you what it is); but, it is very similar to a phillips screwdriver and I used the screwdriver instead. I just made sure that I pushed down and turned the scew slowly in order not to strip. Give yourself about 60-90 minutes to put the desk together.
