  • A. yes, i have a Sceptre and it is perfect for it; you plug the yellow white and red into the side of the tv, make sure the red one is the top red one that says audio, there are two red receptors; if you don't get sound on one, try the other if you don't know what i mean.

Great Value with a Great Picture

This is a basic unit, but at under $27 out the door its' one of the best values available. Great Picture, easy setup, and although refurbished, it looked like new, not a scratch or blemish on it. It does not have a remote button to open the disk tray, but it does have a big button right on top of the unit for that. If you have to go to the unit anyway to remove the disk, I don't see a problem. I don't know if it will last for months or years, but while it does its' great!

This product works excellent! It was super easy to connect to my t.v., the picture is amazing even on some of my older DVD's! I'm not sure why some people have complained about there not being an eject button on the remote since you have to be at the box anyway to put in or take out a DVD?

I didn't know what to expect being that the player was refurbished but at the time I didn't want to invest to much money. I was pleasantly surprised. The player works great. It is better than brand new at a price that is right.

Horrible DVD Player For Seniors!
7/4/2012

Customer review by dlputnam

I have 3 other Sony DVD/changers. I've had them for 3+ years with no problems and excellent playback. I use them everyday. All the units have remotes with eject buttons (open & close). I purchased the Sony DVP-SR500H for my parents, who are in their 80s. Why would anyone make a DVD player with a remote that has no eject button? I was not looking at the remote when I purchased it on line. I was only looking to make sure it came with a remote. I guess I foolishly thought that all remotes for CD & DVD players come with eject buttons. To my embarrassment, when I installed the player for my parents and they asked how does the disc go in, I frantically looked at the remote & came to the conclusion that the disc tray could only be accessed by the manual button on the top of the player. I felt really stupid. My mother is on oxygen & my father is bent over with arthritis. Both have poor vision. For them having to find the button to eject the tray for the discs is one step they certainly don't need. I am returning the DVP-SR500H to Walmart tomorrow.

I purchased this dvd player to play dvds, and it does that pretty well. However, it wont play dvd collections I've burned from my computer. bummer! It was smaller than expected, because the picture makes it look so big but its not a big deal. It's a great value for its price, it's the cheapest dvd player I've seen on the market so i'm not complaining (too much).

I bought this to replace an old dvd player. After reading reviews and comparing with other players, I went with refurbished and bought the 2 yr. replacement plan for just a few extra dollars as well. Figured if it was refurbished, it would most likely be working. It was, and it looked brand new! I have read the other reviews here, and wasn't put off by the fact that you have to eject the dvd at the machine using the button on top. You have to be there to remove it anyhow! There are just 4 buttons on it, so it's not hard to figure out or remember which one does which. The remote also turns on and off my Samsung tv and controls the volume. The upscaling does make a difference, the picture is great. It was as simple to hook up as putting one end of a HDMI cable into the dvr and the other into my tv and plugging in the power cord. One more plus about this: It was on my porch 2 days after I ordered it!
