The item is great. The kids think it's fun, plus they get the full two minutes of brushing. My only negative comment is you can't get it with diffferent sized brush heads. The kids model comes with a 4 and up brush head and a 7 and up brush head. I can't even by the 7 and up brush head by itself without the 4 and up. :(

My 10 and 6 year old were not brushing very adequetly with their manuel toothbrushes. As a result, their last visit to the dentist was not good and both had cavities. My sister referred me to Sonicare for kids and it has been phonomenal ever since. One of the best features is the a built in timer on the Sonicare toothbrush. This gives me piece of mind knowing my kids are brushing for a full 2 minutes. In addition, the kids barely have to do any work, just change position when they hear the chime from the Sonicare toothbrush. My 10 year old loves the vibration from brushing and claims it is like a message for this teeth and gums. So far from what I can tell, my kids don't have an issue with brushing their teeth and actually enjoy it now. The Sonicare also keeps a long charge. I am so impressed with the product I am looking to get the adult version Sonicare for my husband and I.

When we got this toothbrush charged I started to try to brush my six year old's teeth but she was really, really jumpy about it. She said it was "too tickly" and she made it impossible for me to get her teeth done. I thought she was just exaggerating but after much squirming I put the other head on it and tried it myself. My WORD that this is beyond tickly! It's all you can do to keep it in your mouth because it tickles that much! Maybe there's too much sonic action. I know that I couldn't use that thing! She's using it but it's a struggle with all the movement of my daughter and all the giggling (albeit cute). I've almost given up on it and went back to her old $5 vibrating toothbrush. First I'm trying to drain down the battery a bit to see if the vibration lessens to a more reasonable level. Then we'll see!

My 8 yr old son loves this toothbrush. I got a Sonicare Elite for my birthday and let him try my toothbrush and he said he had to have one. He loves brushing with the sonicare for kids and it even has a one minute or two minute timer which is nice because then he knows how long to brush for.

  • A. It vibrates at supersonic rates. It is very effective. I've had rotating brushes and vibrating brushes, and the vibrating brushes a) work more effectively, and b) are less abrasive on your gums.

  • A. It mostly vibrates. I do wish that it had more a circular cleaning motion but those cost more.

  • A. Just vibrates, but it is way better than a spin brush. By far!

  • A. In my previous response I said I thought it did a little bit of both but on closer inspection it does not have the rotating feature the adult version has. I'd have to say it vibrates more than anything.

  • A. I think a little of both. The kids don't really need to 'brush' but just move the brush gently around the mouth.

  • A. It vibrates. But it does so in a way that really cleans even between the teeth. You don't even have to "brush". You just move the brush around over the teeth and it brushes for you. So easy for my children. Much better than the Spinbrush like they were using.

  • A. I would wait a while before using this on a very young child. My child is 3, and I can't imagine he would have tolerated it much younger than he is. It vibrates and could seem unpleasant to a very young child.

  • A. I wouldn't recommend it for an 18 month old. The recommended ages for these are 4 and up. My child will be 4 in February and it's probably just right for her( maybe a little big). Any younger and it would be way too big.

  • A. My son was about 3 when we started using it and the 4 year old heads are the smallest as far as I know. I could try and see I would say it depends in your child cause the heads are small but bigger then the two year old regular toothbrush. Hope this helps.

  • A. The small brush is about half the size of the 7+ brush. Probably be ok but the vibration being too strong might be a bigger issue for your child.

  • A. Yes. I think the smallest brush would work just fine. It is as small as the brush head on the toddler tooth brushes, just a little rounder instead of oval shaped.

  • A. I don't know if there are smaller brushes ... I don't think so. But the smallest brush that comes with this toothbrush will be small enough I believe. I would use it on an 18 month old. It will tickle quite a bit at first until the child gets used to the feel. But I'm sure your child will love it once they get used to it. It also isn't loud so it shouldn't scare him/her.

  • A. I think this brush is to large for your 18 month old. I think the smallest brush thats avaliable starts at 4 yrs old.

  • A. I think that depends on your child, they are all different. The small head is very small so it should work for an 18 month old. I think there are only two head sizes available for this brush. I would be more concerned with the intensity of the brush for a baby or toddler. The kids brush has different levels of intensity though.
