Can't go wrong with this mower

I was hesitant to by a lawn mower online but I've had several Snapper mowers in the past so I thought I'd take a chance and I am so glad I did. I am a 73 year old lady and I assembled it out of the box myself. The instructions are very easy to understand. I do have a fuse that I still haven't figured out where it goes and it isn't even mentioned in the instructions but the mower runs great so I'm not going to worry about the fuse. LOL! (I looked in the parts section and the fuse is shown but is not given a part # and is not shown in the diagrams.) The mower started the very first time (electric start) and I mowed my entire lawn with ease. I am disappointed that it doesn't have a cup holder for my drink. My last two Snappers both had them and I do miss this feature. Also the side discharge chute assembly isn't the best. I barely grazed a bush and it fell off twice but I just mowed the opposite direction so that took care of that problem. I would definitely recommend this mower!!!

This is a really nice mower!

Those that know me know that I'm not a big fan of Briggs & Stratton engines because in the past I've had to pull and pull and pull some more to get them started and then I'd be too exhausted to do the task I intended to do (you know what I mean). In contrast, Honda engines with their one or two pull start capability have always been unbelievably reliable. However, with the push button start on this new Briggs & Stratton Snapper mower, what a dream. So far it is a pleasure to use and has made me a believer in Briggs & Stratton. I do want to say, I have only used this mower for two months, but the use has been to mulch thick oak leaves, I mean thick oak leaves, and mow weeds that have grown up over winter/spring, but so far I think this mower is a keeper and I have already recommended it to friends. I’m not one to write reviews regardless of my feelings on a product , but I felt this mower was worthy of kudos. Great job Snapper and Briggs & Stratton.

Impossible to start - yearly oil changes

Multiple problems the primary being impossible to start. I used the provided oil, charged the battery 8 hours, would not start by electric start. I ensured to use fresh 100% real gas 91 (super grade) and had to try multiple pull starts. It started once so I ran it for 10 minutes. Let it shut off. Tried to start again with no success. Had to give up. It arrived with a quarter size 1/3" deep dent + scratch on the body. It also appeared to be upside down in the box when I opened it (blade was facing me when I opened the top of the box). I did verify the box was right-side up. In addition the manual says you have to chance the oil annually, but the online description claims it never needs to be changed just topped off. Few Pros: Light weight so easy to move. No prime + choke (although that may be a con with how impossible it is to start). Gas can is in easy location to add. Oil is also easy to add. Mulch plug is built-in to back cover.

starts easy, cuts great

Our old mower refused to start and the Snapper has electric start. It was easy to assemble as parts are all attached and all i had to do was tip the handle up and tighten a couple wing nuts. Filled with oil provided and addrd gas. The first start took about 2 seconds but after that its faster. Easy to adjust the mow height with a single lever. Cut the yard with it set up for mulching and it cut great with no clogging. The washout port was a snap (literally). Great mower.

Troy -Built Single -Stage Electric Start Snow Thro

I love the Snapper. My only complaint is that as an 80 yr. old woman, the directions were not explicit enough. After putting it together, I could not start it & had to take it to a dealer who charged me 25.00 to tell me that at the bottom of the handle, I should have unscrewed the 2 bolts to make the extension longer which was holding the blade intact in shipping. My suggestion to the company is to list l, do this, 2, do this, etc. A man might know all this but an 80 yr. old woman needs more specific instructions. I had a Toro prior to this & it died in 3 yrs. & the warranty was only for 2 yrs. The company would do nothing. The snapper is more mobile & moves with great speed. No pushing, just follow it. If it gives me longer service than the Toro, I will be happy.
