Lovedddd this machine. Basic Features that I absolutely loved are: - It was so SIMPLE to use. What I loved about it The Singer 7640 Confidence 200-stitch Sewing Machine is that it was easy to use even for a newbie like me. I made a coaster for myself in under 10 minutes with some guidance from the experts - EASE OF USE - Came naturally to me. Was very easy to understand - COMPACT unlike what my mom used in her days with a heavy pedal and wheels. - With AUTOMATIC NEEDLE STOP AT BOTTOM button to always have needle positioned to the bottom it was easy to align when stitching the edges -ABUNDANT Built In Beautiful Stitches - With the abundance of beautiful in-built stitch patterns and the ease of use, this device is exceptional - LONG BOARD - The long board helps a lot with beginners to position their stitching material appropriately. - SWITCH TO SLOW DOWN - You can sew slow or fast based on your convenience and experience to get it right. Amazing feature for a newbie like me I would most definitely recommend Singer 7640 Confidence 200-stitch Sewing Machine sewing machine to anyone who is starting as a beginner or is a Pro at sewing. I want to disclose that I am writing this review as part of a contest. But I would absolutely love to own one of the many Singer Sewing Machine's someday. And most definitely the Singer 7640 Confidence 200-stitch Sewing Machine.

    WORST. BOBBIN CASE. EVER.
I got this sewing machine as a gift for my birthday in November of last year, 2017. I decided on this machine myself after doing SOME research, I wish I had listened to the bad reviews. Although this machine is kinda lovely, I cannot stand the bobbin case. It gets jammed for no reason, it seems as if sewing a stitch for a good 2-3 minutes seems to set it off. The needle will stab the bobbin case, eventually chunks of the bobbin case break off, then thread will get caught in the jagged edges until you have to buy a new bobbin case for $20. Case A (pictured) lasted about a month or two. I was sewing PJ pants for my family as an xmas gift and couldn't stand the frustration of the needle stabbing the case or the thread tangling in the jagged edges every 5 minutes - so I bought a vintage Singer 403A to finish my PJ bottoms. In December, I ordered a new bobbin case that finally arrived around February. That one lasted a bit longer, although it was still being randomly stabbed, again, for no reason. I was using the correct foot for the stitch and it was threaded correctly. I was finally content with Case B and started to appreciate the machine - since I can no longer return it - until last night. I was trying out some of the fancy stitches (stitch 57) when the needle jammed and got stuck in the bobbin case, FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME (I just happened to switch to a new needle, too, so it was extra infuriating bending a brand new needle). I pulled out the bobbin case and found the huge chunk ripped off (pic 3) and decided that I'm finally sick of this machine and do not want to spend $20 every 3-6 months on a new bobbin case. awesome!

According to my sister, is the best machine of its type. With its versatile array of jobs make it the best she has ever seen for the price.

    LOVE IT!

Love how easy it is to use and change everything! I havent sewed on a machine in over 10 years and this has definitely given me the CONFIDENCE, pun intended, to do it all!

I would definitely recommend this machine to a friend

I used it for quilting and everyday sewing. I wish there were two sizes of font available for the letters and numbers. It was difficult to have an insert made for my cabinet because of the detailed points.

    1. The Singer Confidence model 7640 sewing machine is a “Home machine” and is capable of sewing nylon webbing with the proper machine settings and needle. We recommend using Inspira or Singer brand needles, as using another brand can cause tension and or timing issues. If the webbing is too thick or you sew on multiple layers that are too thick and it raises the presser foot too high, the top tension will be disengaged and the machine will not make a proper stitch (may jam machine). The presser foot of the Singer Confidence model 7640 sewing machine lifts to approximately ¼ inch – 3/8 inch space. Also increase the stitch length (max length) when sewing thicker material or multiple layers to accommodate for the thickness. The other issue may be, using coated or treated threads used for outdoor materials can leave a residue in the threading track of the machine that will hamper how the machine functions. In addition, there is not sufficient clearance in the hook/race area to allow for the thicker thread. The Singer Home model sewing machines are specified for all-purpose threads and not commercial weight threads. You may want to look at an Industrial sewing machine.

    1. The Singer Confidence model 7640 sewing machine and other appliances that are made for the US market and purchased from a US vendor such as Walmart.com are 110/120 volts. In order to use them abroad you most often will need to purchase a transformer. Unfortunately we DO NOT recommend that a transformer be used on electronic/computerized machines. It is our experience that when using a transformer there are too many fluctuations in the voltage causing irregular surges. For this reason we cannot guarantee that you will be able to use this machine in a country that uses 220/240 volts. You also need to be aware that should you connect this machine to a transformer and the wiring is damaged, you will be responsible for any parts and labor to repair the machine, as using a transformer voids the warranty. These items were intended for sale in North America only.
