Great machine for the price!

I have an older Pfaff in a sewing cabinet that I love and use for the majority of my sewing, but it doesn't have many decorative stitches. I wasn't looking to replace my current machine, rather to purchase an additional machine that had decorative stitches and is a bit more portable. This machine is light weight, so it is much more portable. I also fell in love with all the decorative stitches. The blanket stitch is the main stitch I wanted. It works great, especially with the walking foot that is included. I was impressed the the variety of the other stitches. I had read on other reviews that the needle threader was difficult to use, but once you figure it out, it is great. I also read on reviews about how others didn't care for the small led light. I would agree that it is small, but it didn't bother me all that much. I did find that the sound of the machine while sewing, is kind of loud and clunky. I have found this to be common on less expensive machines. The stitch, however is not affected. It sews beautifully. It is eay to use. I love the indications on the machine of where the thread goes to thread the machine. Winding the bobbing was easy, as well. I also like how the needle always is in the same up postition everytime you stop sewing. This keeps the needle threaded. I hate it when you start to sew and the needle is in the wrong position and the thread unthreads. I have done a lot of seamstress work in the past. I did a lot of sewing on several layers of denim. That is how I judge the durability of a machine. I was able to sew over 10 layers of denim with no problem at all. I would hightly recommend this machine. The image I included is of a hand embroidered pillow, I did use this machine to do the decorative leaf stitch to frame my hand work.
The whole pillowI used the machine to do the green leaf stitch.

love it

great machine! very user friendly and definately worth the buy.

I read a lot of reviews before purchasing a new machine this year. I have been sewing for a long time and needed a machine to simplify my projects, that could sew through multiple layers, and be decorative while handling my quilting projects. This one fits the bill! It can sew pretty easily through 10 layers of thick home decorating fabric, has gorgeous stitches, is very easy to use and is lots of fun! Even my 5 year old boy can almost use this machine independently. The needle threader is great, the light is great, selecting stitches is super easy, but my favorite thing may be that I dont' have to adjust the tension. it's automatic!! I make quilts, tote bags, heat packs, fleece projects, clothing, curtains, and whatever else suits me and this machine has everything I need including the extension table. I highly recommend it. You get the same good easy stuff that might cost hundreds to thousands more on other models and brands--why pay more?? Seriously??

Excellent machine...bad manual information

When I received my machine I was thrilled. The only complaint I have is how to get a hold of someone to help me with a question. The Buttonhole lever was in the down position and the machine would just beep at me when I tried to sew...The manual does not address the fact that this lever should be pushed up into the machine prior to straight stitching..It took me awhile, but I did get a phone number for Singer Corp. online. I called and they saved the day. I almost had to take it an hour away and pay $20.00 to have a Singer dealer look at the machine. Now that I know what to check for if the machine beeps, I love it!

I love this!

I love my new sewing machine! It is really easy to use and easy to keep my seams straight (which I've always struggled with). It's easy to thread as well, and it "drives" really nice-- it is easy to keep it at a nice, even speed, instead of stepping on the pedal and it taking off like a shot! I love all the decorative stitches this machine can do-- it opens up a whole new world of possibilities for me! I haven't had a chance to play with the automatic buttonholer yet, but that was a big selling point for me.
