I've always loved Shimano reels, I have always paired them with Ugly Stik rods. This 5000 reel here is by far my favorite. I have it paired with Ugly Stik GX2 Medium and Medium Heavy Spinning rods, using PowerPro 20lb and 40lb tests. Casting and retrieving is a breeze, drag is perfect for any species. I fish off a pier and have landed anywhere from a 3lb gaff to a 40lb black drum, I'll never go with a different reel.
