I planted some cabbages this spring and this Sevin powder saved my vegetables from bugs eating my brassica plants! I highly suggest using this late in the afternoon when the bees are gone for the day and then rinse the plant in the morning or cover your plants with nettings where bees can't get through. I am very satisfied with this product. It last a long time and it's definitely a staple in my garden. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
About This Item
When insect pests jeopardize your garden's beauty and bounty, shake your plant troubles — and unwanted insects — away. A thin, even dusting from the ready-to-use shaker container kills more than 65 insect pests on ornamentals, flowers, vegetables, fruits and lawns. Dust works best when used below chest height. For taller plants, turn to liquid Sevin® Insect Killer products instead.
Use at the first sign of unwanted insects or damage.
Wear protective rubber or household latex gloves when handling and applying.

helps keep bugs away
Sevin-5 Ready-To-Use 5% Dust comes in a shaker container. The lid screws off easily, but the pop top to shake it out is hard to get open. There is a cover over the shaker holes, but it isn't sealed on the inside, so when I unscrewed the lid some dust poured out. I had to use a twig to push the paper cover out of the lid. Once I got past the packaging, the dust is very fine and shakes out easily. I was able to apply this to the dirt around my plants. I have not noticed any bugs, but it is early in the season so only more time will tell. I plan to continue applications to keep the bugs away. Excluding design flaw the product itself seems to be working well so I left it at 5 stars. I won't really know more until the end of the growing season when I remove the dead plants from the pots because that is when I find if there are grubs in the dirt or not, but so far so good. I like that this covers so many different types of bugs in one product. I received a free product in exchange for my honest review. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Use it all the time but don't like the small containers n lil pricey. Waiting on larger size to become available n lower price
SEVIN Dust saved my tomatoes
My tomato plants were loaded with ripening tomatoes when I discovered a sudden bug invasion (see photos). I had never seen a leaf legged bug and only noticed 2 or 3 on my plants at first so didn't pay much attention, but soon I began seeing groups of creepy big and little ones attaching themselves all over my tomatoes. I looked them up and discovered they were busy damaging my tomatoes and are hard to get rid of. The next morning I dusted my plants with Sevin dust. Several hours later I inspected and couldn't find any bugs except for a few dead stink bugs on the ground. The bugs were completely gone or dead, and I have been enjoying my garden tomatoes all summer. It has been a couple months now, and I have only seen two leaf legged bugs and one stink bug which I ran off with a small localized repeat application. I'm sure all my tomatoes would have been ruined by these aggressive bugs if I had not used the dust in time. I also use it on my roses and it works very well. TIP: I like to apply the Sevin dust with a hand crank duster (Dustin Mizer) so I can apply a very light consistent coating of dust all over the plants. It is less noticeable on the plants than when used straight out of the container it comes in. It's a very effective and economical way to use the dust. I only do this on a non windy day and I follow all recommended precautions.
So far so good!
Last year, my vegetable garden was damaged by several different insects. I have recently planted my garden again this year and have been waiting for the insects to return. I received the Garden Insect Killer from Garden Tech and sprinkled it around the bottom of the plants in the soil and just barely on the plants themselves. I have not had any issues with insects so far and hoping for a bountiful garden for the rest of the season. This will be a biweekly task for me to make sure the insects do not return.
