What's the first thing you look for when shopping for a new mattress? Price? Comfort and support? Durability? Well, the Sealy Mattress Company has been a trusted household name for over 130 years now and it's easy to see why. This Sealy Response Performance 12" Plush Tight Top Mattress has to be one of the most comfortable innerspring mattresses I've ever owned and it's all thanks to Sealy's exclusive Posturepedic Technology coupled with their Response Coil System, which delivers reinforced support under the heaviest part of the body thus providing the perfect level of comfort for a superior night's sleep. There are actually several layers to this mattress that potential buyers should be aware of: the top-most layer of 1-inch of SealySupport Firm Foam targets the heaviest part of your body with reinforced support where you need it most while the middle layer contains 2-inches SealyCushion Extra Soft Foam for a more supportive feel plus 2-inches of SealyCushion Air Foam for airflow. The bottom layer contains SealyCool Gel Memory Foam for additional support and is specifically designed to work with adjustable bases. The result is a heavenly night's sleep, even for people that suffer from back ailments and injuries. I personally deal with scoliosis in my lower spine and couldn't believe the noticeable difference in my quality of sleep after setting up my Sealy. I really like the ComfortLoft Cover, too. It's a soft knit fabric that has a plush yet durable feel to it, so you don't have to worry about pulls, tears, or holes developing anytime soon. I, personally, have never been a fan of borderless mattresses, so the DuraFlex high-density coil border is another welcomed addition for me because it provides a solid seating surface. You can actually set your purse or briefcase on the edge of this mattress without worrying about it rolling off the bed and spilling out all over the floor when you walk out of the room. Now to the most common question I've seen posted in in the Q&A section - how is the mattress shipped and what does it look like when it arrives? No, this mattress does not come vacuum-sealed and rolled up in a box. I've seen some reviewers complain about the overly large size of the shipping box the mattress their particular mattresses were packaged in, but that was not the case for me. My mattress arrived fully inflated and packed in a nice thick plastic. No shipping box was necessary. To top it off, the delivery service Sealy employed was extremely professional and accommodating. They carried my new mattress up two flights of stairs, offered to set it up for me, and even hauled away my old mattress for free! All in all, I couldn't be happier with my new mattress and would highly recommend Sealy mattresses to anyone who is looking for a quality mattress at a reasonable price. Please note, I received this item as part of Walmart's Spark Reviewer program in exchange for an honest review.

best sleep ever
I've had my other mattress for over 30 years never got a new one, was planning on getting one, when this one came I was in heaven, not sleeping very well, with this new mattress OMG I actually slept 5 hours in a row a first for me, this mattress when I laid on it I didn't want to get off. It is so comfortable, even my dog loves it we can actually bounce on it. This mattress is giving me the best sleep and I feel so well rested in the morning where before not so happy waking up. Thank you for my sleep.
I love this mattress!
I've been sleeping on this for a a week now. And those couple days I have featured the best sleep in my life. I honestly have never regularly slept all night, and I am now. In the past I've always been a side or stomach sleeper, but with this bed, I sleep on my back. I think it's my natural sleeping position, but I never had a good enough mattress to make it work before. I wake up lying straight and comfortable.
The mattress is quite firm, as I like, but not so firm that it feels hard in any way. It's just the right thickness too---so sheets stay on and it's not crazily heavy. It even looks nice before you put the sheets on!
I've yet to notice any sag or change from where I sleep in the mattress. You might say it's too soon for that, but other mattresses I've had have already been dipping in the middle by this point.
I find myself on the mattress at many points in the day, just hanging out. That's a sign of a truly comfy bed. My bed has turned into my hang out spot I swear lol
Delivery was easy, with friendly delivery guys keeping us informed as to when they were going to get to us.
I really can't say enough about this great mattress! Whatever technology went into it, it was research well done. I am in love with my mattress!
This Mattress is really good
The Sealy Response Performance 12'' plush Tight Top Mattress is beautiful, well made , excellent quality . After a few nights of sleeping on the Mattress I felt relaxed , no back pain, and I sleep through the whole night . The Mattress has a perfect fitting to my weigh and body . My old Mattress , is a famous brand, but I never had a good night of sleep like this one . Very happy with the Mattress and I recomend it .
This is a safe bet for most. It's right there in the middle, between firm and plush. I tried a Casper for two months and it turned out foam-only was not a good fit for me, so I was excited to return to a more conventional mattress. This is a bit of a hybrid, since there's a significant amount of foam above the innerspring base. I sleep on my side and front mostly, but I imagine this would be comfy for a back-sleeper, too. Very impressed with Walmart's price—I did a thorough search before purchasing. Delivery was on time and the mattress arrived in perfect condition, sealed in plastic and boxed. I'm a happy well-rested customer.
New Sealy Mattress
As you can tell by my ratings, I am thrilled with this new Sealy Response Performance 12" Plush Tight Top Mattress.
I had recently purchased a brand new Sealy Pillow Top Mattress and was not happy with it. This was my golden opportunity to get a new one. So I jumped at the chance. I chose the 12 inch because I liked the height it gave me when I am in bed. I thought it would be comfy and look good. It does both.
This mattress is the firmness I was looking for when I purchased my previous mattress. It is not a pillow top, but a Plush Tight Top Mattress. It doesn't give when I lie down on it, and it still is snuggly. The first night I slept on it, I noticed a wonderful difference. My back didn't hurt in the morning. My hip joints also didn't hurt. I have arthritis, and sometimes you can get too comfortable, and wake up feeling awful. Not with this mattress. I am 100% happy I got it and tried it.
I would recommend this mattress to anyone who is looking for a firm mattress, but not the hard foam ones that are available. This one isn't so expensive as the others, a nice surprise to me.
It is a queen size and won't be easy to maneuver when turning it, but most mattresses are awkward when it comes to this task. I will have to ask for some help, as usual. Queen is the size I use and have for many years. The bedding I already have is fitting just perfectly; so the mattress is a standard Queen size.
Great night sleep
I was hesitant to get a matress without seeing it first. But when I got this I was pleasantly surprised. My fiancé and I both have back trouble. The mattress really helped me get a good night sleep. The mattress is firm yet soft and contours to your body while resting. The material is durable nice looking. Very well stitched . I have been using memory foam on my old mattress . I kept to see if I would need it with this one. I do not. This one provides more comfort than the pads. I love it. We are going next week to purchase the matching box spring. Thanks Spark for giving me the chance to try this beauty.
More than Expected
I received this mattress free as a result of being a Spark Reviewer.
It has been an embarrassingly long time since I had a new mattress. My previous mattress had familiar old lumps and bumps which I didn't really mind until I started traveling for work and slept on some stellar hotel mattresses. I'd recently decided it was time to change out my old one (I was looking into Serta Perfect Sleepers) when I saw the opportunity to try this Sealy Response Performance 12" Plush Tight Top Mattress.
I've been sleeping on the mattress for a week now and I've got to say it has been an easy transition--unlike new pillows, which usually take many days to get broken-in just right. I have not had one uncomfortable or awkward night's rest! On this Sealy Response Performance Plush Tight Top, I get to sleep quick and I wake up rested. I am a side sleeper and roll around when I sleep and this mattress supports both well. It's plush on top with a more supportive base. This is NOT a memory-foam mattress.
According to the tags on this mattress it is designed to be used with or without a box-spring foundation. (There are some specific box-springs recommended on the tag.) For the time being, I've got the mattress on my old box-spring, which is pretty stiff.
This Sealy mattress appears to be very quality made. It arrived in great condition completely 'bagged' in a heavy-duty plastic. I just cut one end open and slid the mattress out, easy. I immediately noticed the mattress is significantly lighter in weight than my antiquated mattress is. For this reason this mattress was much easier for me to maneuver myself than my older dense mattress.
The Sealy Response Performance Plush mattress is all one piece--the plushness is integrated into the construction of top layer of the mattress. The top is tufted with flat 'buttons', which you don't feel when sleeping and the mattress' sides are smooth. You can't see where the plushness of the mattress ends and the more supportive materials begin. This is in contrast to some pillow top mattresses where the pillow top is obviously a separate piece sewn into the mattress with industrial stitching.
My previous mattress did not have any plushness, it was just a spring mattress. Sleeping on a mattress with plushness is new to me. I like it, although if it were any fluffier I may begin to feel drowned in too much softness. As it is, the level of this mattress' plushness is just right to feel cozy to me. I like a medium support mattress with some softness. (Sleep number 45.) This Sealy mattress feels downright luxurious when I lay down and my body gently sinks into the plushness of the mattress. So far it is uniformly plush; however since this is my first plush mattress, I'm curious if the plushness will remain uniform, or if it will start to sink-in, in the places I normally lay.
The reason I'm not giving the mattress five stars though is because I think it is the plush top that makes the mattress sleep rather toasty. Initially when I roll over during the night, I can experience a wonderful cool spot, but once I lay there for a minute, that spot warms up--similar to a pillow, and while the mattress feels breathable, it retains heat. As some context, it's the very end of the summer here and the evenings have become crisp, dipping into the mid 50's. I also sleep with my A/C set at about 68 degrees at night. I sleep with a lightweight feather duvet and my temperature usually tends to run a bit cooler. For the week I've been sleeping on this mattress, I've woken up at night needing to shed covers.
I have a full-size mattress all to myself, so I cannot judge how 'quiet' the mattress would be if there were someone else moving around on it; however I tend to think the plushness of the mattress would absorb some of the motion.
Overall I'm extremely pleased that this mattress, which I did not specifically choose based upon research I'd done, has provided so much comfort. We will see what I think about the warmth as fall turns into winter, but sleeping in fewer layers is a compromise that is easy to make to dial-in an even better night's sleep on this mattress. I'd recommend it to others who desire a medium-soft mattress with NO memory-foam.
Oy... my aching back!
To begin with, we requested this mattress TWO months ago... and had to wait waaay too long for delivery. Don't care if it was a free sample to evaluate... that is a ridiculous amount of time to have to wait; just sayin, especially since Spark-Reviewer usually sends products out within 7-10 days.
On top of that, we were under the impression that we were to get a 'FIRM' mattress; instead, what we received was anything, but.
The mattress, itself, is OK... for what it is... but, we found it to be much too soft for our comfort.
This mattress is constructed in a manner which prevents one from flipping it over to sleep on the other side (a practice employed to promote longevity); THERE IS NO OTHER SIDE meant to be slept on. A real bummer.
The mattress is 'looker', alright... but that hardly matters since we always encase our mattresses in one of those "dust-proof, bug-proof, spill-proof..." sleeve-covers, anyway. The thickness, at about 12-inches, is pretty much standard.
Not too 'tall' for me; however, the wife has resorted to 'sliding' out of bed in the morning... and taking a running-start to mount it at night-time.
At least, we can still "lights-out" with a smile on our faces and a soft chuckle resonating in our ears.
Truthfully, I probably would have rated this mattress a bit higher... had it not been for that infernally long waiting period. It's a good thing we hadn't tossed our "old" mattress (just incase).
If you have any sort of back-issues or arthritic problems... this particular mattress is probably not for you. If you are accustomed to flipping your mattresses, say, on a monthly basis; this mattress is definitely not for you.
Otherwise, go for it!
