Easy to use and a great value!

I purchased this primarily to freeze and store vegetables that I grow in my garden so I can use them all winter long. I've only used it once during which I did 6 bags of veggies. It works great! And it's so easy to use. I can't wait to use it more. I was unsure because it was one of the lowest cost options, but given how good this works I can't imagine why anyone would want to pay more. Just a note that it is a bit noisy while it is sealing. Not that it is a problem, it just surprised me that is all. Also, it comes with 4 bags so you may want to buy more when you purchase it. I bought the rolls and I love those because I can make my own bags the size I need them (the bags that came with it are quite large). The seal only feature helps in making custom size bags. Also, it is fairly compact which makes it easy to store. And the little tray to catch liquid that gets sucked out is very handy. I didn't think I would need it but found out how useful that feature is when I did my first bag of shredded zucchini (which contains a lot of moisture).

    Growls but does the job!

For a basic vacuum sealer, I have found it to work well. I looked at a lot of different models and did a lot of “research “ before I made this purchase. I am happy so far and I have sealed several bags of barbecued pork and some slices of meatloaf. No problem but you must have the edge of bags in the drip tray for vacuuming to work and the edges need to be nice and straight to seal. I bought 2 rolls of Seal a Meal bags which are available at my Kroger store. To make sure my bag edges are straight, I use a ruler and a Sharpie marker to help and use the white marks on the bags to guide in making my lines too. The sealer does make an awful noise and even though I had read reviews about the noise, it did startle me for the first time. But it’s just a noise and it only lasts a few seconds. I am looking forward to my next encounter with my new Seal a Meal machine!

Good basic machine to save freezer foods

I have had this machine now for 4 months - and it does a great job of sealing my foods and preventing any freezer burn. I use the FoodSaver brand of bags just because I have had such good luck with them. We live 50 miles from the nearest grocery store - so driving 100+ miles round trip for food is not something I want to do weekly. Previously used a zip lock type of bag, but my food would ruin and I needed long term storage solution when purchasing sale items or bulk. This isn't the most expensive and doesn't have bells and whistles, but does the job needed. Love it and now divide/bag everything! I use a small paper cutter to measure and cut my bags so the edges are smooth/straight as I cannot seem to cut a straight line. Paid for itself already. Would like to say - Love as I order many things that way since I cannot drive so many miles just to shop, plus I can search items and reviews to make the best determination for products I need. Fast shipping, free shipping and/or store pickup if I am planning a trip over to the store. Best of all, I don't have to pay $99 a year to "participate" and get free shipping!!! Thank you WalMart!!

    GREAT BUY!!!

This sealer is a time saver. My old B & D Fresh Guard still works but you have to continuously hold it to seal. Love the hands free on this sealer. I use different types of rolls (I like to make my own bags of different sizes) and they all seem to work very well. For the price....GREAT BUY!!!! I HIGHLY recommend this sealer.

    Works Great!

Read the reviews. For the money had to give it a try. For $40 how bad could it be. It's the best ever. Sure, steady use will over heat any small electronic. Just follow the instructions & let it rest a few minutes. I had no real problems when using. Was able to make my own size bag by using the seal only and then used the vacuum option to remove the air & seal. It has a safety noise & the lid pops up when ready for a rest from too much use. I liked that, because I could not really break it by using it past the point of no return. At 65 I was ready for a rest also. The bottom line is that it did just what it says. The air is removed & the bag is sealed. Nice size, light, easy to pick up, stays in place on the counter & not to noisy.

    Inexpensive iterm, works great!

Other feedbacks mentioned not vacuuming out all the air, or not sealing fully. Maybe they had a defect, or maybe the bag was not inserted properly. Since receiving my unit, I have sealed 4 bags of ground beef, 2 bags of chops, 3 bags of steaks and some sausages. All of these were done in one sitting, with no issues of overheating or machine malfunction. This unit is a replacement for a larger (and older) Seal A Meal vacuum unit, and I never had issues with the older one. This one will vacuum and seal a bag of ground beef in about 10-12 seconds. For a smaller unit, can't ask for much more!

    The very "BEST" !

This Vacuum Sealer is worth every penny I paid for it ! It replaces my old one of 12 years. It is wonderful to have 'fresh Cherries' in January. To vacuum pack them last summer, I put the Cherries on a cookie sheet to freeze in the freezer, { this prevents the vacuum machine from extracting any juices from the Fruit, Meat or any Vegetables}. Once frozen I put them in a vacuum type freezer bag , & vacuum-seal the product. This does keep all my frozen foods fresh for month , without 'freezer-burn'. This Machine has a very strong suction capability & I'm looking forward to use it for this Summers fresh fruit & vegetables. I can highly recommend this product, I have used it & I am satisfied with the performance & able again to purchase food items, as they become available on sale.

    Another great seal-a-meal product

This is exactly what I was looking for in a sealer. I had another seal-a-meal for yrs. but it finally broke. I was beside myself. Then I found what I was looking for at The item is smaller, more compact and much quieter than my last one. It sits on my kitchen cabinet all the time. It is a beautiful unit and works fantastic. I couldn't do without my seal-a-meal.
Seal a meal,, Got this a few weeks ago, and am very happy with it, Although it took me a few days to really figure it out, it can be touchy in the beginning. And if you trim/cut your own bags, THEY HAVE TO BE CUT STRAIGHT!! All in all, I'm very pleased with it, considering the great price!

    Great addition to my kitchen

ONCE I figured out how to use it it works wonderfully. The directions are a little misleading and unclear.
