Perfect fit!
We ordered two of these to hold our DVDs and Blu-Rays. We have somewhere in the 500 range. The towers were super easy to set up and when placed side by side look like one media center. They look very nice and because they were used for DVDs we have two extra shelves which I plan to buy brackets for and put in my daughters room for knick-knacks. These are a great buy!!

What a shame...
I ordered this on December 28, and it finally arrived for pickup on January 18. I was pretty excited to pick it up and assemble it... the finish on the wood looked great out of the box, everything was going fine. Then I got the step one: installing the cam locks on the feet of the two side supports. As I pick up the first piece, with no force other than simply lifting one end off of the floor, the end just snapped off in my hand. After shouting an expletive, I put all the pieces back in the box for their next trip back to the nearest Walmart. Now, this could've been a total fluke. Since this is particle board, any extra amount of humidity in the storage room certainly could have caused this. I gave 5 stars for appearance and features, since from all I understand this has been a great piece for many people. But unfortunately it didn't quite work for me. I think I'll stick to solid wood from now on!

Great Media Storage for Short Money

Putting this together took a bit of time, but if you want it to be done right you MUST take your time and go step by step. The finished Storage Center Looks Fantastic. This unit holds all of my DVD's with plenty of room for future DVD's or CD's. I used the top for my 27" Seiki HD TV and it fits perfectly. How can you go wrong for under $40.00. I highly recommend this. Shipment was very fast and the packaging protected the product Very, Very well.

Good value

Verified purchase

Tower is very easy to assemble and looks great. Took me about an hour with the longest part being the nailing of the back to the frame. I'm handicapped and had to sit on the floor and scoot around. I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone needing extra shelves. My only "bad" comment is: in spacing the shelves to accomodate my DVD's left me with two shelves left over. To stand DVD's upright only four can be used. DVD cases come in varying width sizes and I was able to put approximately 225 on the 5 shelves.

Great Shelf for DVDs

Verified purchase

For anyone who needs a lot of storage be it for DVDs, Blu-rays, CD's, etc, this product is for you. I chose this product because I needed a shelf to hold all of my DVDs. It was at a great price and the color was what I needed for my decor. I had my husband set it up and it took 20 minutes to complete it. I was able to store more than 250 DVDs, if you have nothing but Blu-Rays then it would hold more. I was left with two extra shelves and used them as frame holders for my insane amount of pictures. i would definitely buy another one to fit the other 100+ DVDs I own.

Item came before expected, well pack and preserved from damage, was easy to put together following instructions. Looks great and all my DVDs and VHs fit in it. The shelf came with extra planks if your need of this shelf is for CDs.

Arrived perfect! Packaged very well so no damage to any parts on arrival. Easy assembly, hardest part is getting the back on level on all edges. Already have one of same size (just different color) so knew what to expect. Great price on a great storage unit.

Perfect for our needs

We are using two to store our large DVD/Blu-ray collection in our basement game room/family room. Does the job. Rather dark, but will work. Wish they still made the white version but waited too long to get it.

Better than expected!

We've had old Disney VHS tapes and our DVDs all over the house in different places because we didn't have a proper storage unit...well, this fixed that problem, and didn't break the bank either. Even though it's laminate/faux-wood finish, it looks a LOT better than I expected. I definitely may be buying another one. It would be great if it was just as wide but taller! Some assembly tips: - Be GENTLE and go slow when you're screwing in the Twist Lock fasteners... the particle board can easily split if you are overzealous! - Use 1.5" nails to adhere the back to the frame (they give you puny .5" nails... no wonder people have had problems). I used flathead nails and they worked fine; bullet heads might work OK too. - On that same note, space your nails about every 4" (not the 5.5" written in the manual, unless you want gaps). - When you have the unit face-down to put the back on, place 2 folded towels (1 at the top lip/Part A, 1 at the bottom lip/Part B) for stability, to protect your floor (unless it's carpet), and to prevent scratching/damaging the unit. In all, the unit took me about 30 minutes to assemble, but that's because I was scrounging for better nails. :)

1. The Sauder O'Sullivan Multimedia Storage Tower cannot be stacked on top of each other.
by Sauder

2. You would definetly have to mount the product to the wall to make it stable. The top and bottom pieces stick out further than the rest of the unit so you would probably want to leave them off. The simple answer is yes; with some added handiwork and supplies.
by brittley170

3. I wouldn't try that . It is made to stand on the base not on top of another unit.

4. I have mounted an additional shelf on top of two of these mounted side by side on a 2x10 with casters the swivel type. It works as long as your careful when moving it around. As far as stacking them I wouldn't do it with out making the sides stronger and increasing the base size. These things tip real easy. They can be mounted on sturdy cabinet however.
by moviemadman

5. NO, I don't think that would work. The base of the unit is larger than the top and I think it would fall over.
by luvspugs2453

6. Yes, if you put the top one upside down. That keeps the middle from sticking out too far. If you do this, the bottom of the top shelf will not quite match the top of the bottom shelf, but it will be close enough... (about 2 inches difference)

7. Only if you stack them top on top with the platform on the top of the unit and bolt them together.

8. I would only suggest this option if you securely mount both units to a wall. They are not very deep and could topple over easily.

9. no, the base is too wide.

10. No. There is no other attatchment pieces that would allow you to do this. It would be very unstable. There are other shelving units that do come in two pieces that you could seperate for smaller shelves, or combine to make one shelving unit. I would not recommend trying to place two of these together.
by AllysonG

11. I would say definitely not. If there were a way to secure the unit to the wall in multiple locations then maybe but I wouldn't stack them.

1. The top shelf is very thin in depth and the unit does not appear to be able to support a great deal of weight. I would not recommend putting anything heavy on the shelves. The shelves are also only as deep as a cd case so books are not going to fit and I feel the shelves would warp under the weight. Hope this helps.

2. The Sauder Multi Media Storage Tower will not accommodate a 50 lb stereo system. It will hold 145 cardboard case VHS tapes, 96 oversized case VHS tapes, 280 DVDs, or 426 CDs

3. I don't think the shelves are wide enough for a stereo or speakers unless they're small, but paperback books would fit.

4. Not a chance. The unit is not made for holding anything heavy. Cd's and DVD only.

6. No; the manual says each shelf holds a maximum of 15 lbs apiece (the bottom/one closest to the floor can hold 20 lbs). They don't recommend putting anything on the top, either.

7. This unit is particle board and has no center brace. I would hesitate to put that much weight on the top. It will bow quickly. Designed for light weight DVDs or CDs.

8. I am not sure about it holding the weight of those electronics. However, the shelves are not as deep as they appear. I do not believe it would sucessfully hold a stereo system or fax machine. They would over hang. I do have a 19"tv sitting on top of it.

11. The shelves aren't very deep- they fit a DVD case standing upright just about perfectly. It's also not very sturdy, I don't think I would put anything super heavy on it or anything that would make it more unstable. The base shelf is wider but not by a whole lot. I can't imagine a fax machine fitting on it anywhere.

12. It appears the backside of the shelving unit has that cheap foldout fake cardboard imitation wood panel you nail on the backside. If you buy a 1/4th inch piece of plywood and screw it on behind that after installing the fake woodgrain cardboard that'll improve the strength of the entire unit by 100% or more making it a solid shelving system you won't have to worry about. It'll prevent it from wobbling side to side due to the plywood being rigid and you'd be able to place things on top of the unit also.

9. I would advise against it. The top center of the shelf is only about 6 inches deep, and I wouldn't be surprised if it would start sagging after awhile from a heavy load such as a TV. Also, this is not that sturdy, so I could see the TV falling off with a little shaking or nudge and potentially hurting children. The unit does come with a mounting screw so you can screw it to a wall. If you decide to put a TV on it, I would highly recommend you screw the unit to the wall to prevent it from tipping over.

10. If you mounted it to the wall with some L brackets, a TV might fit. The base on the TV would have to be small. It might be better to put this under a TV that was mounted to the wall.
