I received this sewing cabinet as a birthday gift. We live in an apartment so space is at a premium but I still wanted to be able to sew. This fits the bill nicely. It is well made and sturdy. I love the electrical plug and all of the shelves to organize all of my sewing notions. It all folds up like an origami sewing center. It is brilliantly designed, kudos to the engineer who figured this out. The only thing that is different from the picture is that this piece is light beige and NOT white. It is about one shade lighter than our Scandinavian bedroom furniture in maple! So this was actually a nice surprise but if you think it is going to be white it isn't. I love it and highly recommend it especially if you are limited in floor space. Remember, in small spaces you need to go up, not out!

Pros: I love this armoire. It hides the mess very well. I have a huge machine and it just fits on the upper shelf. The two bottom shelves are large enough to store more machines or supplies. So much fits in this unit. Close the door and the mess is hidden. Cons: The back piece for the unit was not sent. I called Sauder customer service and it took 4 business days and a weekend for it to arrive. I had left over white paneling on hand so I cut it down to fit the back. Very frustrating. But probably stronger than the piece provided. It took me about 10 hours to assemble (including panel cutting). Even with the missing piece I love this and wish I had got it sooner.

Excellent Sewing Cabinet/Storage

I agree with all the other sewers about how well this item performs for both sewing and storage of machines. I have a Husqvarna/Viking DIAMOND, which is a VERY large sewing/embroidery machine, and a 5 thread serger. They fit easily on opposite sides of the table with room for my lamp/magnifying light stand and the project I'm working on. I like having my pins and scissors beside me, and even with this big machine and the embroidery unit attached, I have room for these beside the machine. I placed a cheap plastic tool drawer set on the shelf just above the machine with all of my presser feet, extra bobbins, needles, etc. where I can reach them without getting up. There is plenty of room for my executive-size office chair in front of the machines. I've had this unit for about 8 months now, and find it to be quite sturdy. I wish the lower shelves were just a bit more accessible, but that's because I have a hard time bending over these days. I would definitely buy this again. Note: I am not a Wal*Mart fan. But this has worked out very well and the price was right for me.

I love this armoire. I am able to store my Viking embroidery machine, serger, and my Brothers sewing machine in this unit with lots of room to spare. I like that it has an electrical outlet attatched to the back of the table which is very easy to get to. I too had trouble with the shelves being a tad to big and I will have to have them sized down a little to fit correctly. I will be sewing alot more then I used to because now I do not have to set up a table to sew on, take my machines out of their totes to set them up and then when I am finished put everything back. I just open the doors, pull the table out, plug the machine in, and I am off and sewing. I have cats so I have to make sure that everything is put away because cats love to eat thread and that can turn into an expensive vet bill. This unit closes up and keeps them out of trouble.

I've had this armoire for about two weeks and I am very pleased with it. It doesn't feel like cheap furniture - it's built of what seems like sturdy wood product. There seems to be enough space for all my crafts and the table is great for working on. I love the way the table folds into the unit and you can hide it behind closed doors. The color is one of my only complaints: I wished it came in more than just white. However the white is not that cheap particle white lacquer look like some of the Walmart furniture; it actually looks like white painted on real wood. Definitely would recommend this as an alternative to people who do not have access to an entire room for their crafting paraphernalia. My main complaint to Walmart is that I wished I could have had this shipped to the store for me to pick up to save the $50 shipping cost. That combined with the tax added almost another $100 to the unit.

  • A. No, it is not a true white. It is definitely a cream white with some distressing to give that low-key shabby chic look (like some of the wood grain is showing through here and there, but only slightly). Very appealing piece.

  • A. No it's more of a creamy color. Also it's "faux white-washed"...I guess that's the best way to describe it. It has streaks of a yellowish-tan to make it look like wood that was painted white.

  • A. Yes, but it will depend on how level your floor is, too. I had to use my embroidery unit leveling feet because my hard-wood floors are not perfectly level. But the pull-out table section is on drawer-slides, so it is level with itself.
    by CookingBuff11/30/2011

  • A. You know, it did slant slightly, so I strategically positioned a couple of those little 1-1/2" round felt furniture protector pads under the table where it hits the pullout leg and that solved the problem. If you decide to do the same, make sure to position them on the underside of the drop table, not on the leg because the leg will not fit into the slide when closed if you do. Hope this is helpful. :)

  • A. 1/2" thick particle board, and 1" thick table pull-outs of recyle solid wood. very sturdy, although I recommend reinforcing the base, the base consist of bottom shelf and right side and left side, the back of cabinet is very heavy cardboarding.
