Great features at an even greater price

I waited for some time to put this machine through its paces before writing this and so far so good. In comparing other Laser all in one devices, Samsung has hit it out of the park with this product. For someone like myself who is using it for home and some small business use, this is perfect. The price is almost half of what some of the others charge and toner isn't anymore than the competitors. Cycle of use is similar. The really cool thing is that I can use NFC print from my Samsung Note 4 with just a couple of clicks. The other cool thing is that the footprint is even smaller than the inkjet it replaced...(bonus!) If there is any regret...it wasn't spending the extra $50 for the model that will do duplex printing. In all, the best money I've spent in some time.

Extremely Poor Value Due to Samsung Ink Policy

Overall, the SL-c1860fw is a nice printer with a great feature set. Print and scan quality is very good. For the first 18 months, I was thrilled with my purchase. However, in mid-2016, the generic after-market toner cartridges that I had been using for several months suddenly stopped working and the printer displayed an "Incompatible Toner Cartridge" error message. After some research and communications with Samsung's tech support, I learned that Samsung apparently updated their printers so they will no longer accept generic toner cartridges. Customers are now forced to buy genuine Samsung toner at three times the price. If you buy this printer, be aware that you'll now be spending around $350.00 every time you replace a set of toner.

    It is sufficient

This printer will do if you need an inexpensive laser printer, its very slow, however in a crunch; because of it's Wi-Fi capability, it is perfect for a household printer, and especially good for school age and college students. If you anticipate the need of 5 new ink cartridges, and save the money even that won't be burdensome. Overall, it fit my purposes perfectly.

    "As described on the tin"

Firstly, it needs to have a MUCH better method of using the bypass feed for envelopes. Also, the ability to use banner paper would be a HUGE asset.

    Constant problems, very slow printer

Printer says "start jobs quickly, just press the start button" but then rejects the job because it isn't finished calibrating. You sit there for five minutes each time you want to print something waiting for the printer to turn back on and get ready. There are constant error messages, and has to be restart over and over. It says it has run out of ink about 3 months before it actually runs out, and sends error messages to your computer and on the printer screen every time you try to print. It wasted all the red ink by printing red accross all pages (even when in B&W mode). Now it won't make copies, because it can't find the connection to it's own built in scanner. The extra features are not necessary, and haven't made anything any more convenient.

    Does what I needed

I needed a device that would allow printing and scanning to all my devices. This includes multiple Android phones and tablets, iOS devices, plus Windows PCs and a Chromebook. This device handles them all perfectly for my needs. While the setup seemed a little odd, once I got it connected to Google Printing, I was a happy camper. Oddly, this process was not in the included documentation, so minus 2 points to the documentation team, but the instructions were easy enough to find online. In case it helps someone else, here's the link I used (note that it may not work forever): http://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00038562/238395 Anyway, I use this only at home, but comes in handy when I work from home, too.

    Few issues

My main complaint is that there is no double sided scanning. Also, there is no option to define more then one SMB or Scan to mail profile. ie if you like to scan to SMB you can not choose one quick dial pdf the other jpg or one pdf in color the other B/W. If you want this, you always need to change the default (needs many clicks) or you need to scan from the PC with 3rd party software because it does not even give you the option the the original software. Trust me, I'. an IT pro with +27 years . If you need to scan a lot and need to vary the output this is nothing you want to deal with besides not being able to scan 2 sided.

    More Than What I Expected

I needed a new printer. I knew all along that I was going with a Samsung Printer and as usual I am glad I did. It is easy to setup and there are plenty of options asseries and add ons for this printer. There is no printing job too big or too small for this printer. No matter what you need to print, it will get the job done with very high quality results. The outcome will look like it came right from a lab. The end results are outstanding. Need to scan and or copy? No problem, you'll end up with only lab quality results each and every time, day in and day out. Samsung should call me to offer me a job in one of their labs.

    GREAT, BUT...

I've had my printer for around 6 months now. Overall I have been relatively happy with it. The quality of output is very good. My exceptions are as follows: (1) the noisy bangs & clanks are very annoying. It always sounds like something is breaking inside. (2) I'm using this at my home & am not running a business; the published yield is questionable in my opinion. I wish there was a counter built into the machine. (3) The cartridges are incredibly expensive. I regret not having checked into the cost of replacement cartridges before purchasing it.

    Gah!

I have had mixed experiences with Samsung products. But this one has been so frustrating. I got it because after upgrading to windows 10 my old printer stopped printing the details. The clerk told me that this printer would work with windows 10. So I spent a little more than I would have on a good inkjet printer to bring home this laser printer. Most of the instructions that came with it were in a foreign language. I didn't bat an eye. It's a printer. Plug it in, determine if it needs software/drivers, put it on the network, and The end. Nope. 1) There are no drivers for windows 10 2) the only available software can't find the printer that windows and every other device (phones, tablets, etc) can find. So downloaded the drivers without installing the printer since the samsung software can't find the samsung printer. Will only print in grayscale. After fighting with it and fighting with it finally get it to print in color. Then Windows Update has a failed to update samsung universal driver III stuck in failed mode. Won't complete despite all attempts. Every time I go to print it pops up that it failed to print because the printer is not online, but then it prints anyway. Until today today it stopped again. Kept erroring out while trying to print. So now I'm back at square one. Trying to install a printer that still doesn't have drivers for Windows 10 and the only thing I can manage to get installed doesn't have options to print in color.
