Samsung SSDs are most reliable
Reliability is Important and the Samsung 860 EVOs are very reliable. I own several 850 EVOs and 860 EVOs. The larger the size, the longer they will last which is why I purchased the 2 TB version even though 500 GB or 1 TB would be good enough. I use a 1 TB and several 500 GB versions for use with Hyper-V Images and for video editing and encoding. I have never had any issues. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

If your running AMD AM3+ motherboard read this
Computer was freezing up and I lost around 1.5 weeks of contract work before I figured out what was causing it, you have to uninstall the AMD AHCI drivers in the Device manager and get the standard windows Windows AHCI drivers from the internet, so far it's been stable and actually working. hundreds of others with similar problems get the (Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller) my samsung 850 pro had no problems then I added the 1TB evo 860 and computer would not stop freezing for almost 2 weeks, I almost replaced the MOBO and power supply.

very quick

bought this for gaming, and programs start about 30% faster with no stuttering during gameplay. The 1 TB is a must to start, but might add another SSD in the future..this is plenty of storage for most of my programs...Slim design and easy install. Setup in disk management on windows is a snap...highly recommended.

Faster than advertised!

This is my fourth SSD from Samsung but my first 860. I have nothing bad to say about this and funnily enough it's even faster than the advertised speed during benchmarks. The speeds dropped 5-10 MB/s after updating to the latest driver but it's still faster than advertised and like before, this was measured with a benchmarking tool and probably not noticeable in real life.

Great laptop update

I replaced a really slow HDD in my Toshiba laptop with the 500Gb SSD, and it was so simple. Samsung's Data Migration s/w made the cloning process so easy. Instead of minutes to awaken from hibernation, it is now only seconds. I was so impressed I upgraded my brother-in-law's laptop (also with a very slow and old HDD) with with a second 860 EVO 500Gb SSD, with very similar pleasing results. I also really appreciate having the Magician monitoring s/w too.

Start up in under 10 seconds

Purchased this as a replacement for the factory installed Seagate HDD 1 TB that burned out. Took about 30 minutes to make the switch and be up and running. It's faster than I anticipated and am very pleased with this purchase.

Happy with my new 500GB Samsung 860 EVO

Hello, this is my 7th SSD from the Evo series with the previous ones being 2 840s 3 850s and 1 960, and like with all the other Samsung Evos I have had price/performance is stellar, I don't have any issues on this just like I didn't have any issues with my previous SSDS which I still have in raids etc. in my desktop computer, this one is just to add extra storage. Thanks for the reliable SSDs you make. It's the only Samsung products I buy, but it is also the best products Samsung makes. The design is kinda meh, but it's hidden away so it's no big deal to me. I vastly prefer the design of the M.2s but again, form factor makes this impossible to replicate.

Phenomenal Drive

Very quick, purchased this one to replace my old 250gb 850 evo. Equivalent speeds with larger warranty on TBW. Using this as an intermediate drive to transfer my exported photos/videos before editing and storing them on my storage HDD which I will eventually replace with a 1TB (or larger) 860 evo. Cannot beat the price to performance for this drive. As I said, it's very quick especially with RAPID mode enabled. Zero hiccups, just performs like a champ.

Samsung Migration Tools Make this Easy Peasy

I am an IT Professional and I have migrated from one HD to another at work and at home many many times. I also recall the days when Windows had HD size constraints. I would never say that I love data migrations, I'd rather avoid them, so when I saw reviews that the Samsung Migration Tools were a great, that is what convinced me to purchase a Samsung SSD. The migration was a breeze, it was so easy to migrate from a legacy SATA to SSD. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great but expensive product

This review is for the 1tb ssd. The 860 Evo performs really well on Mac as well as on windows. The encryption options and features are great as well. However when I compare it to other products in the market providing the same value, I do feel it can be sold at a more competitive price. No complaints otherwise. Cheers!
