    very versatile dvd
Have several Samsung products including a 75" DLP TV which still rocks. Too bad they stopped making this TI technology as it still renders a certain depth of field that only DLP can produce. New 4k technology is brilliant but still lacks DLP depth of field which I suppose only the trained eye of a photographer would value. I Like the quick link to netflix on the new DVD and the improved upload time. eliminated a remote by dumping the old brand x. Overall a great value. This unit replaces a "High end" blue ray which failed to capture my Wi-FI. Samsung has never failed to assist with any of their products even after years of ownership. Stick with Samsung .

This dvd player started out great. Really had no complaints except there is not any kind of indicator light to show if it is on or not. Throughout the year though, if we lost power at all, the player would give a "couldn't connect to the internet error" and I'd have to go through the whole setup process again, but it would usually reconnect. As the year went on though, it took several restarts and resets before it would connect. We lost power briefly last week and now it won't connect to the internet at all. We have the exact same dvd player model in the living room and it connects just fine, along with my laptop and our phones, so it's not our internet provider. I even manually inputted the ip settings to match the player in the living room. It would briefly connect and then by the time I selected an app it would disconnect. I looked this player up online and saw several reviews where people couldn't get their player to connect to wifi. I contacted Samsung and they had me try all of the normal updates, restarts and resets (all of which I had previously done several times before contacting them). They then tell me a technician would have to look at it. I bought this player on July 21, 2018 and it quit working August 3, 2019. It was literally 1 year and 2 weeks since I bought it and their warranty only lasts for.....you guessed it! 1 year! So I would have to pay to fix a dvd player that's 1 year and 2 weeks old that obviously has issues. Samsung's products really have gone downhill, right along with their customer service.

    Long Lasting

I have had my player for over 3 years now. Have watched any and all my DVD/Blu-ray discs with no problems. I love the Smart part. It connects to my Samsung TV immediately and together they have provided me the best entertainment. Love my Samsung products!

    Excellent product

Easy to set up, easy to use...excellent playback on both dvds and blu-ray discs. I love that I can also use Netflix, Vudu, Amazon and a lot of other streaming apps.

    Worked great for a while

Bought this player mostly to watch hulu on my bedroom TV. Tried last week and suddenly the player no longer supports hulu and always has issues connecting to my Netflix account that I had to get to watch anything online through the player..... kinda of frustrating.... probably will be replacing it with another brand. Also it looks like it should be able to add new "software" but actually isnt able to add new programs for online viewing.

    Not the best

This product is okay but not the best. I've taken it back to the store twice.. I took it back once because netfix wasn't working and the DVD player worked then the DVD player stopped working when netfix started playing.

    Not compatible

Bought this and a brand new blue ray movie that came out. Halfway through the movie it said the audio was not compatible with the device. Extremely disappointed.

    allshare and home network sharing

current brochure on Samsung site indicates : AllShare™ Yes

the manual also describes how dlna is to be used.

both these refer to playing of video, music and photos on the home network devices (computers etc) connected to the same Wi-Fi network on the bluray.

This bluray CANNOT do these contrary to all the info given in various documents (specs, manuals, commercial documents etc.)

IT CAN ONLY PLAY BACK VIDEOS, PHOTOS AND MUSIC FROM A USB STICK INSERTED INTO THE PLAYER (and of course the dvd inserted), AND HAS NO WI-FI CAPABILITY FOR SUCH PLAYBACKS.

therefore, for those who want these functions I would not recommend it, and I think that Samsung needs the correct this situation by providing the required firmware or change their documents to reflect the true capabilities of the device.

    Reboots during operation

Had this a little over a year and now player reboots on it's own while watching movies and streaming. Dont waste your money. I have another brand with no issues and had it longer.

    Worst DVD player ever

At $100 I expect a lot more. Ethernet only operates at 100MB and wifi disconnects a lot. Netflix and Youtube have to buffer a lot because of the slow ethernet and disconnecting wifi.

    1. Yes. If you have a Netflix account, you can attempt to use this device with Netflix. I warn you: it locks up quite a bit while using Netflix - even with latest software updates. And you cannot use a simple USB keyboard (even though it has a usb port). You have to fiddle with the simple remote while logging in and while searching for movies. Buy a different brand.

    2. Yes, the App is free - although the service itself has a monthly charge. Thanks for your interest in Samsung products. --Mr. S

    3. Netflix is already provided on the device but you can get a one month free trial then choose from one of the subscription prices. You can set up Netflix through your desktop or mobile device first to see if you like it.

    2. Yeah. But no keyboard support! Fiddling with a simple remote when searching and typing is a pain. Samsung brags about how good it's re-invented wheel is (i.e. its operating system), but it can't/won't support a simple usb keyboard. I would buy another brand that supports Android or another os that will allow the the "luxury" of a keyboard. After all, if they're gonna make you deal with lockups and reboots - like you do with your laptop or desktop, they should at least let you use a keyboard, too!

    3. Yes it will allow her to access her youtube account through the blue ray dvd player. This option is better than watching it on the computer because it will take up the full size of your dvd. I like it because you also watch some movies, documentaries, and music videos on a free app by using your blu ray dvd player.
