  • A. Although this model does not offer Smart features, like Samsung Apps (Netflix, Pandora, YouTube, etc.), web browser and built-in WiFi; it can display App content from a 2010-12 Samsung BD player or other internet capable device (the blu-ray player/internet capable device will handle the Internet content processing, while the TV displays the content. Similar to how a monitor will display the PC’s video signal). Thank you for the opportunity to assist you, -MrSamsung

  • A. I'm sorry for the confusion, but the UN50EH5000 actually offers a 60Hz panel with a Clear Motion Rate of 120. CMR is Samsung's more comprehensive and accurate measure for TV motion clarity. As a company, Samsung does not feel that the Hz of a panel alone is a completely accurate measure of the motion quality that can be produced by the Samsung LED TVs. Thus, Samsung uses three key points to help produce world-class motion clarity: * Panel refresh rate: Samsung's screen refresh rate significantly improves motion detail and resolution by sampling the image more frequently, leading to smoother, more fluid movement. * Image processor: Samsung's proprietary image processing technology is faster and more responsive than conventional image processors, as it interpolates intermediate frames to smooth out the image. * Backlight technology: Samsung's backlight regulates output precisely in synchronization with the screen refresh to lessen the time it is lit, reducing ghosting and motion blur. The Clear Motion Rate represents all of these features working in harmony to produce stunning motion clarity. Please note, the CMR rating is not a refresh rate. This means that the CMR of this set is 120, but it does not mean that it supports 120Hz. -MrSamsung

I consider this an exceptional step up from my Sony Bravia LCD this replaced. This thing excels in bright rooms and is crystal clear. What can I say, it is a great LED and there are so many picture tweaks nearly any viewer will be able to dial in a great display for their application. It 100% meets my expectations. I guess it's so good it shows you faults you may have never noticed. That being said, plasma is still the king of picture quality for movies. The black reproduction at night is still subject to LCD construction resulting in less black than a plasma. Think of it like a flashlight behind a black sheet where plasma looks like the individual pixels can completely shut off to give you the deepest blacks. This LED worked great for my bright living room and I prefer to not have the temporary burn in of plasmas when I use it with my laptop and PS3. I would recommend plasma for movie lovers in a dark room. LED for everything else (computer display, gaming display, bright room, dim room) and that is why I picked this TV and it does everything mostly very well. By the way, the previous reviewer stated the power button on the set wasn't the best designed. I agree, but I would like to state that in my opinion that the button is not so bad as to not choose this TV. I would not value a 120hz, 240hz or 600hz set to be any smoother than this one. 99% of films are shot in 24 fps then converted to display at 60hz. So there is no need to get 120hz. The other 1% are experimenting with 48 frames per second so until that technology is surpassed there is really no need for having 120hz. My Sony was 120hz and I can not tell a difference and actually the ESPN scrolling text seems smoother on this Samsung. Thanks for taking the time to read my review, it is by no means complete. I don't use the TV's speakers, I only use one HDMI on the TV, etc. Trying not to be long winded, I love this TV!! Buy it! My settings: Mode: Movie Backlight 17 Contrast: 95 Brightness: 45 Sharpness: 35 Color: 50 Color Space: Auto Dynamic Contrast: Off Black Tone: Dark Flesh: 0 Color Tone: Warm1 Digital Noise Filter: Auto HDMI Black Level: Low LED Motion Plus: Off

Besides the stupid off on manual button, it is like a gaming toggle on a ps3 or 360 controller this TV met and exceeded all expectations. First off, I up until this point I have went through TWELVE new TVs in six months and after 45 days with this HOPEFULLY I am finished. You ask why did I go through twelve, BECAUSE I am ULTRA picky. Second off, NEW Bravias are junk. Third, there is NO perfect TV including this one. Now the great things about this TV. I bought it for 678.00 with employee discount. I am a big defective pixel guy and this one HAS NONE. Which is a miracle with what I have went through. A big defect with this TV is the fact when you use the manual button it shakes the TV which can not be good for it. I am buying an extra remote off of Amazon as soon as the 90 day return policy is over. Do not be bought into the smart tv craze. It makes the Tv more expensive and you will not use it. I consider myself an expert so take this advice. The best TVs in the world are Panasonic plasmas so buy those if your not in a hurry to game. If you have over a grand to buy a large tv buy the silver rimmed Samsungs. If not buy Panay plasmas or these series Samsungs. If your broke buy Phillips, Emerson or Magnavox. Here is some noted advice. If you are a gamer you have to run this thing in game mode AND shut off DNR to reduce game lag.

Poor audio and no audio RCA output jacks

The flat screen TV this unit replaced had front facing speakers, resulting in much better audio. It also had RCA audio out jacks for headphones. It seems that manufacturers have are forcing people to purchase soundbars at additional cost.

Going from the 32" Toshiba tube to this? No comparison. The Toshiba served me well, no breakdowns ever and 15 years of service and still has a great picture but, I wanted HDTV. This is a great treat for me. It is fabulous. Certainly easy on old eyes. The picture is totally like going to the movie theater. This is a 49.5" flat screen. Big enough for me to see the menu. I think it is fabulous. It has many features I haven't had time to explore yet. I also purchased the 4 year warranted policy. this registered. Can't wait to see the Olympics!!!

The picture is nice on HD signal, but (as with seemingly most large HD TVs) looks harsh when on standard cable channels. My only real complaint with this TV has been that the audio is very wonky when you first get it (too bass-y) and the picture needs a lot of tweaking to get it correct. If you end up using this TV as a monitor for a PC, you'll need to go under "Sources" in the menu and rename/change the signal type to be PC or PC/DVI. That will fix the issues that you would otherwise see with trying to use 1920x1080 resolution on this TV through a computer output.

Not The Best For Over-The-Air

I returned it today (no hassle with the return – Walmart’s great about that). I think this set is not the best choice if you want to use it for over-the-air broadcasts, which I do. I was not able to consistently pick up the local ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and PBS stations with a single antenna position (even with the special indoor amplified digital antenna I bought). This is a problem because the channel mapping function does not allow you to add channels to those already scanned. Each time you scan, it wipes out the previous scan results. As a result, it took me numerous tries, at several antenna locations, before I could get all 5 channels scanned at the same time. And then to watch different channels, I had to reposition the antenna to get a solid picture. I decided it’s not worth the hassle for a $600 set. My old analog set with the converter box does much better, picks up more total channels, and I don’t reposition the antenna when I change channels. The Samsung set does have excellent color, though, and would probably be fine if you have cable or satellite. I had no other issues with it other than the apparently weak tuner.
