    • A. Anybody with any device, including the Roku streaming stick, can get a free 30 day trial of Amazon Prime. That's all you get free with Amazon's own devices.

    • A. No. I do not understand how you got that idea, but no. Amazon Prime Membership is NOT included. Neither is Netflix, HuluPlus, Showtime, HBO, etc. For a list of what is FREE and what COSTS go to ROKUGUIDE DOT COM. Explore there.

    • A. Roku can get a ridiculous amount of channels (so many that I can't keep up with all the channels) and yes you can get amazon prime but you have to pay to get amazon prime. You don't have to pay extra to roku. You pay the premium service for the programming. you don't pay ROKU. THAT'S MY UNDERSTANDING. I have netflix and I pay them not ROKU. Most channels are free. If you have all free channels you pay nothing to roku. There is no subscription price to pay to ROKU!

    • A. Actually you can get those channels free with an app called XTV I use it all the time . you can also add an HD antenna and get those channels. You can choose to pay for them but why when you can watch for free. Join the group Roku Codes , tips and tricks on Face book if you have questions they are a great help.

    • A. No, you cannot get Network channels, as such, on Roku. The Network channels have a streaming presence, but it's not 24/7 live streaming. You might take a look at Sling TV to see if it would fit your needs.

    • A. The cheapest option to get live TV is an antenna for free. The only other ways to get live network TV are cable or satellite. You can not watch major network broadcasts live on a Roku. There are on-demand Roku channels offered by most major networks where you can watch their episodic programs on a delayed basis. ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX all have one. The CW at present does not have a Roku channel showing any of their current programming, but there is a channel showing episodes of shows from formative years of what we now know as CW which is called CW SEED. The Roku PBS channel is VERY good and it is wide open for everyone but missing is most of the British produced programs that are the bread and butter of PBS fans. Usually on the Roku channels offered by the major networks you can watch only episodes of regular episodic programs but not specials like the Oscars or live pro or NCAA sports. All of the broadcast network Roku channels will have some content for free viewing with FOX and PBS offering the most episodes for free. Other broadcast network Roku channels require activation through a participating cable or satellite provider to access all content but most offer something without activation. CBS requires a paid subscription to see any full episodes at all but CBS has another Roku channel with free 24 hour news which is one of the best news channels on Roku and sort of makes up for being stingy with their broadcast episodic programming. There is another option to watch episodic network programs on demand with a Roku called HULU PLUS, but Hulu Plus does NOT have every show, just most of them. I have Time Warner Cable and can not activate the ABC Roku channel for some reason as Time Warner is not a participating carrier for the ABC Roku channel but i have managed to activate NBC and FOX along with A&E, History and many other cable networks on my Roku. I think the point of having a Roku is not to get live broadcast network programming but to get tons of programming that is not on broadcast TV. I have about 360 channels installed on my Roku but rarely use it to watch any network programming at all. If you cut back your cable or satellite to the cheapest they have a Roku can save you money by eliminating the need for any premium cable/satellite channels. HBO and Showtime both have an on-demand channel for Roku and those channels are cheaper than getting HBO or Showtime from the cable company here. If you are smart a Roku can cut your cable or satellite bill, and if you live near enough to get all the broadcast channels with an antenna for free then you kill your cable or satellite bill completely and get along quite well. There is something of a learning curve with a Roku to learn what you can and can not get. The best thing to do is to get one and try it. There is a website I recommend to all Roku users called RokuGuide Dot Com and you can read a lot about the major network Roku channels and how they work there along with all the other thousands of Roku channels. It can take hours to browse all through this site, but worth it. Good luck!

What are the differences between the new Roku 3600R and the Roku 3600RW?

    • A. I love my Roku units. The previous two answers are entirely correct. The numeric characters in the model numbers mean the Stick itself is identical. The alpha characters after the model number indicate the remote control version and which shortcut EXPRESS key configuration is on the remote control. Those buttons on the remote do not matter to me at all as I hardly ever use them and you can easily navigate to whatever channel you want from the main channel screen. Some people may love their shortcut buttons. To me they are more advertising billboards than anything else because if you have a HULU button on your remote Hulu figures you will want HULU just so the button will do SOMETHING good. Walmart OWNS Vudu so any model with the letter W after the numeric characters almost always has a Walmart geared remote with a Vudu shortcut EXPRESS key on the remote. Just buy whichever 3600 you can find at the lowest price and do not worry about the extra keys on the remote. I wish there was someway to disable these silly express buttons because it is slightly annoying to be watching a movie on one channel and mean to hit pause but accidentally press a shortcut express button for another channel instead as it instantly interrupts your viewing.

Researched and decided to try Roku for my sewing workroom since antenna wasn't being able to get sufficient signal there for my little dvd tv. Setup was fairly simple, requiring use of online account setup and finish. The one thing that aggravated me much and almost made me return this item was the requirement to list a credit card with no walk around option possible. None. I had no intentions of using this streaming device to buy anything else other than it allowing me to use a paid subscription to a channel I'm already a member of. Finally my kid suggested using a paid gift credit card which would keep a minimum amount of my choice which if ever hacked wouldn't put me out in the street. Did. The service is really good, but this one flap about credit card requirement made me mad since my ability to have choice was taken, I wish someone had written this in a review as an alert and also what my options. Glad I figured out what most gamer playing kids probably already knew, but we silver haired folks had no clue. Buy it. Just know the facts.

I got the Roku when I was staying at my Mom's house and she had an older flat screen that couldn't connect to the internet/apps. We really wanted to watch a movie on Vudu. We immediately ran to the closest Walmart to get a Roku. Previously, I had used my Chromecast to stream but that is not always ideal if I don't want to use my phone or have a laptop nearby. Not to mention my computer is old and slow. The Roku is great because of it's size and you can literally take it anywhere. We loved that we could go into some of the sports Apps (NBA) and watch the basketball game that we missed from the day before. You can set it up and control it from your phone which is also really convenient. Overall, it's a really great price/value for what you get and it's very easy to setup. If you're on the fence (Price wise) I would go for the Roku over Chromecast for these cheaper streaming options. It's a little better for slightly more. However, they both can coexist and compliment each other. **I am submitting this review as part of a contest

I love this Roku streaming stick. It is so easy to use, you just plug it into the back of your TV, no extra html cable needed. You can use the included jumper to plug it into a USB port on the back of the TV or you can plug it into the wall. I used the USB cable and love that it doesn't take up another plug behind my tv. It was very easy to set up and install. I registered for an account with Roku. You do have to input your credit card info to sign up, but once you have your account you can go back and remove that info if you want to. If you do, you will not be able to make purchases through the Roku without putting the info back in. I signed up for some free trials of other channels through the Roku and we have been having a great time watching our steaming shows. There are lots of free stations as well so you don't even have to sign up for anything to start watching. Another really cool feature is that you can watch your own videos on your TV by casting them over to the Roku. Overall I am very happy with the Roku stick and would recommend it to anyone who wants to start streaming.

I own 5 Roku devices. One for each of the 3 TV's at my cottage and 2 for my condo TV's. I have 2 streaming sticks and 3 of those little hockey puck size boxes. What you get for the amount you pay for them I cant believe the complaints I've seen online. Either these people don't read about what they are buying or are totally wearing a tinfoil hat on their heads. I could watch a new channel just about everyday on these boxes for the next several years and not see the same content! They are the greatest devices as far as money savers for the consumers. I've even bought them as gifts for my elderly siblings and they love them once they have me give them lessons on how to use them. Once that's mastered they get rid of cable ASAP ! Here's the best tip of all.....I have a flat screen in each of my guest bedrooms at my cottage and have a streaming stick plugged into each one. No I don't have a cable TV hookup to each TV since it is a cottage. With these streaming sticks the grandkids can watch those their favorite shows streaming online before they go to bed. And I don't have to worry about extra cords hanging down the wall other than the power cord from the wall mounted TV's Thanks ROKU!

We started out with the Roku box about 3 years ago and have since bought Roku sticks. They are all very easy to use my now four-year-old has been using it by his self on his own TV since he was a year and a half that's just how simple and easy they are to use. But don't let that fool you it's not a simple item it is an amazing item!!! There are so many educational channels for children of all ages not counting easy ways to purchase movies watch movies I use my Google Play a lot we also use Netflix and Hulu a lot and there are so many free channels as well that are pretty awesome. Some are paid channels but they are very affordable priced if u wish to have them! As long as you have internet you have an amazing TV service! I would recommend Roku to just about anyone there is something for everyone on Roku. Get one and try it for yourself, you wont be disapointed! And if by chance you lose your remote they have a wonderful app that works on Android ,Kindle ,and most other products that you can just download to use!!!!!!
