Absolutely Fantastic - Love It!

YAY! I got my Roku Stick and finished setting it all up, today! I went through and chose a bunch of my fave tv channels, to start out with - also looked over music channels, movie channels and various other free offerings (free games). I wish I had known about this alternative to cable, a lot sooner! The Roku "stick" is inexpensive, $29.00, with no monthly fees. It is so easy to install and set-up. Then watch just about anything. Some channels require payment, for a subscription (like Netflix, Hulu, BritBox, etc..) but there is so much content available, for FREE, it makes the Roku totally worth the $29.00 price tag. Plus, I finally cut the cord, with cable! Buh bye, crummy overpriced cable company! I will not miss you, or your monthly $150 bill, AT ALL!!! Love this Roku! Two thumbs up!!!

Don't Like MANDATORY Credit Card Info to Register

Device works as expected. Have only had it for 2 days, but so far, no complaints about the electronics or service. Works similar to Fire TV Stick. BUT... DON'T LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU ARE FORCED AND MANDATED TO ENTER CREDIT CARD INFO JUST TO REGISTER AND USE PRODUCT!!! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! I shouldn't be forced to do this just to register and use a product I already paid for. With all the internet identity theft that goes on, I try and share my credit card info with as few places as possible and Roku forcing me to do this goes against "MY" privacy policy! But there's no way around it! Roku REALLY needs to rethink this practice! SO, BECAUSE OF THIS, I WILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER EVER AGAIN BUY ANOTHER ROKU PRODUCT!!!!! (PS - Amazon's Fire TV Stick does NOT need a credit card to register and activate their device. I'll be going back to them for any future purchases!)

Just ok

I'm glad I got this for free. It has some nice features like being able to listen to the audio through the mobile app, which allows me to use my bluetooth headphones (I couldn't do this with my Roku 3). The video is also really clear once it loads fully. However, the video often takes a little while to load and is often blurry initially when it does load. (My internet connection is very good and my download rate is over 30 Mbps, so that is not the problem.) It also doesn't have nearly as much storage (I assume) as my Roku 3 has. This causes the channels to have to download (loading...) when I open them instead of already being loaded. I have deleted a lot of the channels I don't use much to help with this issue, but it doesn't seem to help. This is very annoying.

Roku, better than geting a Spectrum box.

My cable provider TWC, now Spectrum, has just instituted the requirement to have a box for every tv. Per their website, as a previous TWC customer and now Spectrum, each box would cost $11/month which is total B.S. I bought the Roku so I could use the Spectrum app in Roku to access basic channels without their box. One time price of $29 vs $11/month/tv, what's not to like.

Pleased with purchase.

We got it and took about 10 minutes to set up. Not happy that you have to put in a credit card number to finish set up but there are options so it won't be used without putting a pin in so spectrum tv app works nice so we don't need another box and I can easily unhook and carry to another part of house to put on different tv. Lots of free channels. So for the money much cheaper than another cable box. At first local channels on spectrum did not show up so I pm spectrum on facebook and in day they got things fixed and so I get all digital channels I would with set box.

Roku Channel shows hundreds of free movies

I have used Roku for years, including several different models. The best new thing of note is Roku has recently released The Roku Channel, which has hundreds of free movies. It is ad supported.Roku has just about every app you can think of (YouTube/Pandora/Netflix/Amazon/Hulu/HBO Now) plus tons of more apps in many different categories. Here are some points to consider when deciding on which model of Roku to buy: 1)If you need to connect by WiFi in a room far away from your WiFi router,I would recommend the Roku Streaming Stick PLUS or Roku Ultra. 2)If you have a 4K TV,I would recommend the Roku Ultra or Roku Streaming Stick PLUS. 3)To search for content using your voice,go with either the Streaming Stick,Streaming Stick PLUS or Ultra. 4)If you want a wired ethernet connection,go with the Roku Ultra. 5)If you want to connect to an old TV with RCA/Composite audio/video jacks, you will need the Express PLUS 6)The Express models have a remote where it has to be pointed at the device, unlike the other Roku models. 7)If you are only going to buy one Roku device,I would recommend the Roku Ultra. The Ultra has many unique features that the other Roku models don't such as: -Gaming buttons to play video games -Remote finder to find a lost remote control -Ethernet port for a wired connection -Micro SD card slot -USB Port -Night listening mode (this lowers the volume of loud, explosive sounds and raises the volume of soft sounds like whispers.Very useful!) -Headphone jack on the remote for listening without disturbing others

Very nice piece if tech!

Got this cause spectrum went to digital, it's small form is really nice and i have to say it runs apps better than my xbox one. not to mention it's snappy meaning there's no lag between a button press and what you choose to scroll to

Frustrated!!!

I bought this a month ago and my remote doesn't work correctly. The cursor either does not move at all when you press the arrows, or it goes so fast over the characters that you are not able to select the ones you need. If you finally get a few characters typed in, then get a wrong one, the back correct button erases ALL of the characters, not just the last one. I did manage to get some of the channels set up, but all that the support team off in India could recommend was that I should return the product. Why can't they just send me a new remote?! In looking over the channels I am able to access so far, I see that by the time I pay for subscriptions to all of the different available channels, I would be spending far more than if I just subscribed to cable. So much for free tv. The 'totally free' channels inundate you with commercials. It wouldn't be so bad if they mixed them up a bit, but the same two or three commercials are played ad nauseum through the entire program or movie.

Super Snappy - make sure you get the HD-NEW model

Replaced my old roku 2 with the new (October 2017) express. Very easy to set up, very responsive, couldn't be happier. I just wish it didn't look identical to last year's model, which you can still buy some places for a small discount. If you paid $25 - you got last year's model. If it doesn't say "New! 5X more powerful" on the box - you got last year's model. If the SKU on the bottom of the box isn't 3900RW - you got last year's model.

Great idea but Internet connection week

I’ve had other Roku’s with great success. Unfortunately this one does not seem to be functioning well. I am not sure if it is it it is lying or malfunction but it keeps droppingNetwork and Internet. It is not my network at home that is the problem as none of your other devices are having any issues. This is pretty frustrating as it takes forever to search for a single item and When playing it will constantly pause to reload or show very poor video quality
