I bought a disc. The first indication was about 8-10 min in when there was a skip on the scene when the manhole opened and the parents' friend came to get the little girl. His last line was cut off. The really bad skipping and stalling and sound/video mismatches started at the beginning of the girl grown up. I never got past her "rescue."
I exchanged the disc and the second one had the same problems in exactly the same places. This laptop happily plays all eight of the Hunger Games box set of discs, 5 of the 6 seasons of Game of Thrones (I had one bad disc in season 6), and hundreds of other discs. Fortunately I had brought it with me to check the exchanged disc so I was able to do that right in the store.
At this point it became clear that the entire batch of disks was likely going to skip. This is a problem because I was told that Walmart only does exchanges for the same product. It was starting to look like I was going to have to test every one of their discs in stock but fortunately a manager took pity on me and issued me store credit.
I will have to wait until a new version of the disc comes out, or a later run with better quality control to watch the movie (I missed it when it was in theaters). Oh well.
