I recently purchased this item in red and used it perhaps 3 times. I was brewing my coffee and heard a crack and a sizzle. Next thing I see is the carafe is completely cracked. It hadn't dropped, been hit or incurred any damage. It also doesn't keep the coffee hot. Should have spent extra to get a real coffee pot This is a waste of money.

I bought this a few years back and thought that it was a reasonably priced coffee pot. I do not drink coffee everyday so this is why I just bought something inexpensive.... I should have just pulled out $5.00 more and bought one that looked more sturdy. I didnt think that it would be so flimsy. I have had it for 3 years now and after reading other reviews saying that theirs have stopped working after 3 or 4 uses... I guess I was a lucky one to have one that still works. But the problem is that when it pours, coffee gets all over the place (my husband says its how I am pouring but I told him to hush up and its the coffee pots fault lol) and the other problem is that it does NOT keep your coffee very hot. I mean it is hot but not as hot as it should be. I wouldnt recommend this to anyone.... Walmart should just take it off their shelves and save the time on their side for people who return it and save others from buying it and having to return it.

Brews barely warm coffee

I went cheap and more offen than not you get what you pay for. After purchasing a Sunbeam coffee maker from Walmart 10 years ago for less than $10 it finally died, thought I'd try and go cheap twice this time it didn't pan out. To sum it up this coffee maker has 5 bad features off the top and probably more. (1# The brewed coffee is barely warm. #2# The lighted switch is on the side of machine and it requires 2 hands to turn it on or off. #3# The filter basket requires 2 hands to remove or replace. #4# The design of the spout on the pot spills as you are pouring a cup. #5) Removing or replacing the pot to the coffee maker requires 2 hands. I am very disappointed and going to return it and go for the $17 MR Coffee machine, in the past I've had programable coffee makers and they only seem to last just until the warranty expires, I just want a basic machine thats not going to annoy me every time I use it and last a few years, I really miss my Sunbeam coffee maker it lasted longer than any other coffee maker I have ever had.

NEW DESIGN FIXED PROBLEM
3/15/2016

Customer review by ricckky

I have had three of these over 15 years--The price back in 2000 at Walmart was $7.95, in 2008 it was $8.95, in 20014 it was $9.95--now it looks as if they raised it the another $1.00--not bad over 15 years. The only complaint I ever had was "yes the filter holder would come loose and make a mess sometimes" Simple fix-- I always had some scotch tape on my kitchen counter and placed a small strip of tape between the tower and the basket. It worked like a charm. The only reason I bought a new one in 2014 is that I accidentally broke my coffee pot. I had written rival many times about this problem and they wrote me back and said they had fixed the problem. Guess what? They did--The filter basket makes kind of a snapping noise and it locks into place and won't come out without some effort. For some reason I love this coffee maker--simple, easy, cheap and makes a great cup of coffee-

Great for tea!

I don't drink coffee but it seems like many of the complaints on these reviews is that it doesn't get hot enough for coffee. I don't know about that, but it gets plenty hot enough for making tea, and that's all I ever use it for. So for me it's a great deal. Maybe I shouldn't be reviewing it as a tea maker since it is advertised as a coffee maker. But it makes great tea. Just in case anyone wants to know.

  • A. No, how sad if one of these by chance burn a place down, worse should it be lives. I dont see even Why? would Wally World even allow these sold. I hope they leave this answer up, to warn others after all I did answer. More so, pass this post to corperprate

  • A. The user manual instructs to "turn off or unplug the unit when finished." I believe that if the 2-hour time-out existed that it would have been noted at this place in the instructions. It is not. I haven't used my new Rival long enough to determine that it turns off after two hours. I expect it will not.

  • A. No, this model does not have an auto-off. You must manually turn the unit on and off for each use.

  • A. There is no automatic shutoff. Unfortunately the carafes have a tendency to break and dump their contents onto whatever is under them. Walmart sells other brands that are much better.
