Does not work on modal fabrics
Followed directions precisely. Left my Halston top splotchy, not a saturated color through out. I bought the wine color for a wine top that had a couple of bleach stains. It covered the bleach stains but the rest was uneven coloring. Probably only works well on cotton.

Worked well on the stove

Verified purchase

I dyed a thin white tshirt and it came out well. Just be sure you really make the fabric turn this way and taht. There was an area where it was folded that wasn't as dark. I simply did another pot on the stove and made sure it was exposed to the dye/water and voila, it came out great. total time in the hot water/dye was about 20 minutes.

Rit Fabric Dye EZ

Verified purchase

This product was purchased by me for a neighbor. My friend has not told me whether this product performed as it did "back in the day"! I do, more than not, expect that Rit Products have the same quality and ease of use that they did back in the 1940's. Been around a long time. Nothing to lose and the price is affordable too.

Will buy again

I bought this dye for a Halloween costume and it did the job. Just the right shade of green I was looking for. I dyed the cloth in a tote in the bathtub and it worked fine. I have yet to try rit in the washing machine.

3. I washed it down my [stainless steel] kitchen sink with running warm water. The instructions say that it's ok to do that. Used regular ole cleanser to clean the sink afterwards, looked good as new.

1. What is the fiber type? If it's a natural fiber, meaning cotton, linen, wool, it should take the dye well. If it's a synthetic fiber then you may find it takes the dye uneven or that it takes longer or that it may actually damage the fabric. Dyeing effectiveness can also be altered depending on whether the print was woven or printed. You can usually figure out by seeing if the pattern is on both sides of the fabric. If there's only a pattern on the outside then it's printed. Any fabric can take dye a little wonky at times, but can also be perfect at others. When working with commercial items it's frankly always a toss up to see if things go well or not and you can have a large batch of the same thing and still end up with failed pieces. If you can do a small test, then do it before trying to do the whole thing. If not, you can take a leap of faith and try it or look for what you want in the color you want instead. I doubt you'll completely get rid of all traces of it having been a camo print if that's what you're after, but you can always try if you want it bad enough. But just remember the jacket could be ruined in the process because black is probably the strongest color that Rit, or any company for that matter, makes. Good Luck!

1. Possibly, but it's probably not a good idea. There's no way to know how Rit will respond to the fiber type used in vehicle carpeting and it could completely ruin the carpet. It would be a good idea to ask a certified shop what they use to customize carpeting or research what the bigger manufacturers use before jumping into this project. In the end, it may cost more to have it done by a pro but it could mean the difference between having and not having carpet. Your choice.

2. I've used it with great success on car carpets.. I just did my sons red carpet and dyed it black. it took a total of 6 bottles, I went to home depot bought the biggest plastic tub they had ($22# then took the hose from washer #hot water) filled the plastic tub up mixed in three bottles of dye and weighted the carpet down with weights. I let the carpet sit for 12hrs and repeated the process twice before it all changed black.. I was again really happy with it and would recommended it a heartbeat
