I have some split ends because I regrettably tried to lighten up my dyed black hair, so I had cut it much shorter, however, there's still a little bit of damage left. Although I've used a couple of good irons before, I used to think that all irons were pretty much the same and that the results only depended on your straightening technique and condition of your hair. Although that is partly true, I was definitely wrong about all irons being equal. Before purchasing this Remington iron, I had this cheap Revlon one but I hated the results and just figured my hair was just too damaged for flat ironing. However, after trying this one out, I am amazed by the results. My hair is shinier and softer, and even my split ends are way less noticeable. I did use the Organix Keratin flat iron protector (highly recommend) which did work okay with my last iron, but worked even better with this one. I always finish it off with one of Organix oil sprays too. Personally, if I'm gonna use heat protectors or any other hair product that is going to make my hair slightly wet, I would just use a wet/dry iron because it absorbs the excess moisture. I also recommend that you don't use this when your hair it's dripping wet, but when it's damp instead. I would even wait a few hours after showering. I have thick wavy hair and prefer to never blowdry because it would just damage my hair and make it more difficult to straighten.
