Was unsure about phone quality since Apple stopped selling them in Sept 2012. Apple now sells the 5c, 5s and 4s since they have invested a lot of money in the advanced security features of these models. Unsure why Apple stopped the regular 5 phone. This phone is working great. It does seem to have issues with speakerphone conversations though. Its not terrible but more annoying than anything. When in car through bluetooth connection the sound is kind of static like or sounds far away. Researched the community threads at Apple and it seems this is a known thing with this phone. Maybe since the speaker and mic are next to each other at the bottom this could cause this white noise. Turning down the volume and covering the external mic hole seem to help. Phone to ear no problems. Overall the phone has been terrific. More features than previous phones I had. Like the fact the phone is mine and not subsidized by the phone carrier. We will save on two phones purchased nearly three hundred dollars in year one and closer to five hundred in year two by not being locked into a contract. Being new to Apple stuff, it would have been nice to get more instruction on features and how to get around on the phone. The 156 page user guide is downloadable at the Apple site and you can go to the nearest Apple store for help. The phone is intelligent enough to automatically switch between the a/c/b/g/n 2.4 and 5 Ghz wifi in the house to 4G cell carrier outside the house so you save data time. The phone will auto connect, if you choose to set up that way, to any wifi wireless network and look for the cellular carrier if wifi is not around. Lots of apps available and if you don't have an Apple account sign up for free to access more apps and downloads. By looking at the phone, it seems slim and small but it does have some weight to it. Definitely get a soft sided guard for the edges as a hard side cover will not absorb the bounce if the phone is dropped. Actually you will want to protect this investment as it is not a cheap upfront cost to acquire this phone. Haven't gotten the FaceTime working as it does not seem to work. Maybe carrier blocked or what, don't know yet. If you have to call WM Family mobile for support be prepared to speak loudly and clearly as I have yet to converse with a clearly speaking English person. Phone has nice set of apps built in to keep you organized. Note pads, calculator, weather, reminders, maps and clocks to keep you organized and informed. Battery time seems acceptable. My previous phones could go days without a battery bar decrease in time. This phone seems to go down in bars throughout the day, but it is running more things than previous phone. To save battery when not traveling about, shut off the GPS tracking so battery lasts longer. Just remember to turn back on then traveling so you can activate maps and locate my phone service. Siri is nice too. She will try to help as you can talk naturally to her and get a response. The ability to speak and the words being recognized is pretty cool so you don't have to type messages on the screen. Just speak and send messages. This is great for people who cannot type accurately since Siri will transform spoken words to written words. It even has a spell checker. Overall, it is a nice phone. Yes it is a pricey upfront cost. Buying the phone outright may not fit in some people's budget but if you calculate the expense between the subsidized phone by the carrier and their higher cost of 2 year service versus the non contract rate of about forty dollars, it will become obvious you are still paying more on the contract plan. Basically, you are paying for the phone over two years and stuck with over priced carrier service versus having the phone and changing to any carrier you want. Do your homework, see what plans work in your area and pick a phone that meets your needs. This phone with WM family plan works for us in Central TX and has a nice set of features. Wanted a secure app store and heard not so good things about Google and Android apps being plagued with vulnerabilities. With Apple they control the app store and push updates to the devices making a more secure software connection. I would rather use my phone than spend needless time resetting or worrying about the security of my data and apps. For the time being we will be using Apple and this phone fits the bill for now.

2. no

3. the phone does come with a nano, but you will still have to buy a family mobile package from wmt, which includes activation code and another nano sim. I don't think there's a way around that. the turn-up package costs $25.

1. Family Mobile is a monthly billing plan, post paid. You must pay by the due date or they immediately cut you off, with a fee to restore. Unlimited means unlimited every month, but the data speed will decrease if you use a lot, read the details about it. It is only 3G at the fastest speed then down to 2G.
by DavidMSP
2. For $39.95 unlimited everything up to 2.5G high speed data after that its slower.. U still get data not as fast..i use wifi at home and data when im out..
by Shengsheart
3. As long as you pay bill monthly. Yes, unlimited phone and text. Data too somewhat. After 2.5 GBs it will slow a little bu tno a lot.

1. If you don't have the nano sim card you will need to buy it. You will not need a new number. I was able to get mine transferred from my LG Family Mobile phone.
by oneton45
2. iPhone 5 uses a nano sim. If you have nano, then you should be able to just swap the sim. Otherwise, you will have to buy a new nano sim because it just won't fit.
