Recorded live at The Spectrum, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 15, 1974. Includes liner notes by Richard Barnes.
When John Entwistle issued his fourth solo release, MAD DOG, he had grand hopes for the ensuing tour. The album attempted to break away from the Who's 'power trio plus singer' format, as evidenced by the presence of a horn section and an array of other musicians. Entwistle kept the large band (dubbed 'John Entwistle's Ox') in tact for an ambitiously grand live tour. While the tour was marred by problems, one successful performance was a co-headlining gig with Humble Pie at the enormous Philadelphia Spectrum on March 15, 1975, released as the KING BISCUIT FLOWER HOUR PRESENTS series. Featured are grand renditions of songs Entwistle penned and originally recorded with The Who ("My Wife," "Boris the Spider," "Whiskey Man," and "Heaven & Hell"), as well as solo compositions ("My Size," "Cell Number Seven").
