  • A. If your TV only has an analog tuner, you need a converter box with ANY antenna. If you have a digital tuner, you don't need a converter box with any antenna. It is ENTIRELY dependent on the TV, not the antenna. ALL new TVs made for sale in the US since 2007 have digital tuners. MOST new TVs made for sale in the US since 2004 have digital tuners.

  • A. If your TV is older with only an analog receiver then you still need a digital converter box (to pick up the digital signal from this antenna, and convert it to analog for the TV.) If your TV has a digital tuner, then this antenna will send the digital signals right to it and no converter box is needed. The nice thing about Walmart is they accept returned items. I say try it; if it does not work for any reason then take it back for a refund.

  • A. It depends. If you have a late model FLAT SCREEN DIGITAL TV, It will pull digital programs out of thin air. It will not convert a regular TV (older type) to accept digital signals. You have to have a CONVERTER BOX for that.

  • A. This antenna has a 70 inch coax cable built on to it. The cable is Factory connected inside the antenna and has standard coax connecter on the other end of the cable so you can attach it to your TV set. I tried to use one antenna for two TV's. It did not work. I attached the antenna to a decent 3-way splitter, then a 3 foot cable to one TV and a 10 foot cable to a 2nd TV. No good on either TV. Even with just the splitter and the 3 foot cable to the first TV only, the reception was poor. I think it adds too much resistance to the circuit. Walmart may still sell the "amplified" cousin of this model. It is more $$, but it's supposed to pick up channels from farther away. This antenna is "passive" and for shorter distances. I think that is why adding splitter and more wire prevented it from working properly. I had to buy a 2nd antenna.

  • A. plug the cable like antenna into the cable connect of your TV and place the other end of flat antenna somewhere higher than the TV to where you get the best picture. You may have to move it around a few times to get your best TV picture.

  • A. Turn on your TV, make sure it's on the correct input (antenna), and you should be able to change channels. If that doesn't work, the TV might have a setup function to find the channels - this would be in the menu somewhere. If it still doesn't work, you might be too far away from the broadcasting stations.

  • A. You must do a channel scan. Attach the antennae and then go to your tv's menu screen select TV (not cable) then do a channel scan. It will find every digital broadcast channel in your area.

  • A. If you're that perplexed you might want to ask a friend for help, because it's difficult to explain without knowing what setup you're starting with. If your TV is more than 5 yrs old, you'll probably need a *digital converter box* to receive the new digital broadcasts. (This is why many people buying these antennas say they "got nothing," because they're using them on an older TV without the necessary converter box.) So assuming you have one, those converter boxes always have their own remotes and setup process. After hooking up this RCA antenna to your converter box, go to the Main Menu to find "Programming" or "Channel setup." That will scan thru all the signals the new antenna is receiving, should identify and save them on your Channel list. You can then use the "Favorites" or "Channel List" to bypass the stations you don't want the TV to stop on like shopping, foreign languages, etc. If you're sure no converter box is required and are hooking up directly to the TV, you shouldn't have to do anything more than change the channels. First make sure you've switched the TV's input to receive the digital broadcasts (usually it's just "TV" itself.) That should be the same type button/function that lets you switch from 'Cable' to the DVD player, for example. Once you've switched that input, use your TV's remote to scan the channels and see what you're picking up. (Channel 03 will only be dead air.) As above, pick the ones you want the channel changer to stop on and delete those you don't want.

  • A. I had the same problem with this JR. I figured out to go into the TV Menu by way of the remote and do a new "Scan for Channels". About 49 digital channels came up. Then I had to figure out how to use the menu to "skip over" half of them when I hit the + or - channel button. I was not interested in those channels. I'll bet you figured this out already, but just in case...

I bought this antenna with hopes that it would reach out and grab digital signals from a neighboring TV market.First I connected it to my TV that is used for over the air broadcasts. The picture was great. The key to getting a great picture is placing the antenna so it faces the direction of the TV towers. However, while pulling only local channels in I wanted to reach another market to receive more channels. So another trip to Walmart to buy a digital signal amplifier. After hooking it up and doing another scan...BINGO. I was now able to pull in another TV market 75 miles to the north in Madison,Wi. I live in Rockford,Il.Only able to pull in the other ABC stations in Madison,I was satisfied(reception was fantastic) as my goal was to watch Me TV in another market on Saturdays. My local station played sports on Saturdays whereas the Madison Me TV channel played regular programming. For $19.88 plus $15 for the signal amplifier this is a great buy. I would highly recommend getting one.

A caveat: Receiving over-the-air broadcasts is largely a hit-or-miss proposition when it comes to antennas, as your proximity to a transmitter will largely influence whether a particular antenna will work for you. That said, when I bought a new television, I lost my favorite station while picking up a station I had not been able to receive previously with a 1992 antenna that looked like something Dr. Frankenstein would have used to bring his creation to life. I tried this antenna and lost everything, despite being less than 20 miles from transmitters of all local stations. Thus the poor rating, as when I tried another antenna that looked even less impressive than this one, I picked up all local channels. A note: Try an old antenna first before thinking you must have a "DTV" or "HDTV" antenna. All TV antennas are capable of receiving the same signals. It's just that manufacturers are worried that if consumers don't see that an antenna "supports" 1080p or digital signals they will buy one that purports to do so.

Before you buy, make sure you go to rcaantenna.net to see where your towers are located. The type of antenna depends on how far you are from the towers, this mode is good for 30 miles when pointed in the right direction.

From what I understand, there are different strengths of antennas, and this one is on the low end. I bought this to pick up free broadcast TV stations, and I'm 5-10 miles from the signal. I get the signals most of the time, I've noticed when it's really windy, the signal will go out for about 10 seconds and then return. There's other factors that come into play in addition to your distance from the signal (ie. the tower at the nearest local TV station affiliate that's broadcasting the signal), one is how close the antenna is to a window. The closer, the better the signal. Same with the distance the antenna is from the outside wall. Also, if there's metal in the wall, that interferes with the signal too. But for $20, it's worth a shot, and if it's not strong enough to get the signal you want, take it back and exchange it for the next strength up.

I bought this antenna because my financial situation is very tight and i would rather spend my money in other places. I specifically bought it to watch football on Sundays. I have to say I was surprised at how well it works. I had NO problems setting it up. It took about 5min. It found the signal right away. It picked up 30 channels right off the bat. All of the main channels came up ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CW, MY 20 etc. There are plenty of faith based channels to. All in al the product does exactly what it advertises. I live in Nashville TN. Its sitting by my window.

I canceled cable because I am tired of the high cost when all I watch are a handful of channels. I went to Radio shack and they tried to sell me a Antenna that cost $56.00. I got on line and looked at what Walmart had to offer and bought this for $21.00 and hooked it up and I got great reception and over 40 channels. I am happy and no more high cable bills to pay. Kim

We had a big problem tuning in local channels after the sloppy installation job Comcast did - they added too many splitters that seriously degraded the signal. We attached this RCA digital flat antenna and ALL the local channels we were missing were back again - plus even more channels that we were never able to get before! All in HD, too. Highly recommended!

We are about 60 miles from our "local" tv stations. We still managed to pick up several channels with this antenna. Though it is not the best, we bought it as a temporary fix until the additional cable gets installed. For $20 it has done its job. We have to move it occasionally to get better reception, but other than that it does o.k.
