Eeh...

This product was not at all what I was expecting in performance. I like RCA as a brand. I have an RCA TV. I thought it would be a perfect complement. I liked that it had a subwoofer and the 5.1 was just a bonus. I didn't need a regular DVD player since I already have a blueray player but what the heck. I hooked it up, it was pretty strait forward. I turned it on, and there was no bass sound at all. It was very tinny and I had to double check to make sure I had it hooked up correctly. I did. I then when thru and bumped up the bass as much as I could and selected the heaviest bass setting and now I could hear bass, but it crackled which is why I got this system in the first place. I am going to package it back up and return tonight. Oh, 200W...where? I have no idea where the sound went, there is no 200w. It on its loudest couldn't get as loud as the TV by itself. Now the good about this, if you need a DVD player and don't care about the volume of bass, it is a good enough system. Its just that those items are important to me.

    Bad sound

I have had two RCA surround sounds and enjoyed the sound from both units. One was a 300 W and one was a 500W. I have always had great success with RCA. Well, until now. I received this system as a Christmas gift. It was easy enough to set up. We hooked it up and I didn't know how to tell my friend the sound was not right. To hear any bass you have to turn it up full blast. Still didn't sound good. Was concerned about blowing the speakers if we had to turn it all the way up every time. It was only 100W less than an old one of mine, how could it not sound good??. I am not sure if it has to do with no amp. It, comes with a DVD player, but it is not worth it. We took it back paid a little more and put a 1000W RCA with amp in our living room. Now we have all the sound and bass we want and no worry of blowing any speakers. Very happy with the new one. Hope this helps someone looking for a good sounding home system.
Hey Bugs, We are sorry to hear about your experience with the tablet. We hope you can consider RCA again in the future.

Good But Bring Back Other Speakers

I first purchased the RCA surround system for my TV 7-8 years ago. It was right around the price of this current model, and the sound quality was absolutely amazing. For the last year it began making noises with loading the disc that let me know it was quitting soon. Sure enough, it bit the dust yesterday. I looked online and was happy to see this one. I purchased it, and last night I replaced my defunct system with the new one. One of my dvd movies has an option for THX that tests the surround sound speaker set up. I couldn't figure out at first, why the sound quality was so weak. I finally realized the speakers weren't as good quality as the other, they were smaller and less powerful, including the subwoofer. So, I hooked up my older, bigger, more powerful RCA speakers from the old model to the new model dvd player. My powerful speakers are back!!! Also, the small speakers don't have the silver RCA logo on them, whereas my older speakers do. This would be a 5-star rating if the speakers were better, but if you aren't used to the sound from those, this new model is a great buy for the price.

    RCA 200W Home Theatre System

This is a down-and-dirty, small system - easy to install. The one main problem I have noticed right off is, that for a system that purports to have "200W" - its not there!!!! The price is right for what you get and, will work satisfactorily I'm sure for most cases; but, again - if you have Roku-type TV's, there seems to be a problem with being able to increase the output volume. If I had it to do over again, I would have spent a little more for a much-more quality system that was able to have TRUE 200W output capability and, control of the Base & Treble function output (this one does not have that capability). Its an adequate, small, low-priced system that works in many instances for many people.

    Great buy

Works great for my home. Almost didn't buy it because of the bad reviews, but decided to try it anyway. Very good price. Some of you must have been expecting to get a $500 system for $78. We have had NO problems.

Good for the money, but not great

    1) Using tos optical for input, from smart TV. After TV is off for a short while, the stereo turns itself off. So, when turned on after TV is on, stereo sometimes quits when turned on; have to reset to digital (optical), then it works. 2) When using Youtube with smart TV, sometimes distorts the audio very noticably; have to turn the stereo off, then on again while video is playing, to get stereo to play without distortion. 3) Could not get the setup mode to work, so could not set the levels for the 5.1 speakers. I have another RCA remote for an older, similar RCA stereo (which died), which has an EQ button, which put the stereo in the setup mode to adjust levels for each speaker. This EQ button is MISSING from the remote that came with this stereo, while SETUP button did not work. 4) So, stereo is good for the money, cheaper than others for the features, but not great.

    Surround sound

This is a cheap system with exactly what one should expect from a cheap system. If one were looking for Bose quality, this is not for you. But if one were looking for an affordable surround sound I would recommend this product.

    Perfect for apartment

I bought this system because it's what I could afford and I hooked it up and I live in a apartment and it's loud enough and perfect for apartments!!!! Enough base and volume!!!!

    My experience

I liked it, it sounds good.

    Excellent Sound

Bought this to keep my aging Father in law from raising the volume so much on the TV. Works beautifully, producing an excellent sound range. Was very easy to install, (less than 20 minutes), although I wish the speaker leads would have been just a bit longer, because we have a large living room. Overall, we are highly satisfied with this purchase, and have been considering getting more sets for our bedroom, the guest room and the Game Room!!
    Hey Bear,,

Glad to hear you and your family are enjoying the home theater system!
