Amazing Bargain

I'm in the process of starting a new business on a shoestring and I needed a netbook to use in the field. I didn't need tons of disk space, but strongly preferred it use Windows 10, have a touch screen AND a keyboard, preferably detachable, and WiFi. But they just cost too much for me at the time. I actually followed an email link from Staples, and was exploring another model that cost more and had an Android OS. Then I went searching for that and other models and ended up on Walmart.com. $99, plus tax and a 2-year extended...$146 out the door! It works great, allowing me to install decent software with features not usually found with Android. Used one of the two cams on Skype...very nice touch. Second Life virtual reality viewer worked without bombing, and that's a pretty intense software. Sometimes it's handy to use the physical keyboard...sometimes just to help balance the unit on my lap. But in the field, having it pull EASILY out of the keyboard's slot to use as a touch screen tablet similar to an iPbe adds a great dimension of versatility. My desktop has Windows 10, but now with this unit, I'm more able to use its features and appreciate the configurability of the more modern Start Menu, etc. It's a very nice looking tablet...doesn't look strange or cheesy. It doesn't have the typical pretty shiny case laptops and netbooks often have, to get all scratched up overnight, which is perfect and businesslike for me (black model). So far, I truly love it, and I'm clear it will more than meet my needs, including some "take a break" games, a comprehensive and secure database and contact management system, etc. I don't know if it would keep up with power user gamer, but I suspect it would be very adequate for most people. Cons noted to date: The touch screen isn't quite as sensitive as expected (i.e.-not as sensitive as the smart phones I've had). After pondering that, it might turn out to be a blessing by not going places not intended too often. I wonder if that's an adjustable feature rather than a con? Occasionally, it seems to go into portrait layout mode and doesn't flip back to landscape. If I pull it out of the keyboard and put it back, it does not correct its orientation issue and I'm required to reapply landscape in Settings. But that is very quick and easy to do. The speakers on it are not loud enough when turned up, requiring me to use buds, phones or perhaps a USB amplified speaker. No big deal. This little cheap tablet has far surpassed my expectations. Other people who keep track of what's available and are extremely picky, expecting huge $1000 performance at a low price, might nitpick over these things, but I'm very happy with it. One USB port is limiting, but acceptable. Also has an HDMI port and a micro-USB, expanding interfacing flexibility...so not really a con.
Hey LancasterRider,

Glad to hear you are enjoying the tablet! Thanks for the great review!

RCA Cambio 10.1"

Exlent 2 in 1 laptop/tablet with Windows 10 system , not slow and good quality resolution.

great for basic music making+live performances

i love this thing. i lucked out and got this for only $90 during a black friday sale to take with me overseas (so i didn't have to worry about anything happening to my main laptop) and because it's super portable and light but i have to say it would still be worth the $120-150 normal list price. right off the bat, if you're looking to play any high end video games(i.e. with a lot of 3d graphics) or do any sort of 1080p video editing, this isn't a great choice. i mainly use this for remote music production, watching movies while flying, and basic internet stuff. since it comes with win10 on it(sadly 32 bit only), i've been able to install reaper, ableton live, audiomulch and a ton of vst plugins along with a bunch of other audio productive software that makes overseas flights a go by quick. reaper works best as a DAW on this tablet since it is such a ram efficient app. this laptop only has 2 gigs of ram - half of which getting eaten up by windows 10. also, i can also hook up my zoom h2n and use it as an external hi-fi mic and sound card (the built in sound drivers/headphone jack sound a bit lo fi imo - but the built in headphone jack is still okay for watching movies, audiobooks, or listening to stuff streaming off spotify or wherever). i can also hook up my midi keyboard - i'm very surprised that this little tablet will power my big aurtura keylab 61 right out of the usb port - which makes it ideal for using during mobile live music performances. i can't run a ton of vst plugins at the same time due to the lack of ram on this thing, but i can still run quite a few before having to mix down, or "freeze tracks" as the call it. also the usb jack for this will power my seagate 5tb usb3 portable hard drive - which is great since there's not a lot of space on this thing after windows is installed. but it's been a really great travel laptop, albeit there a few quirks (sometimes it starts up in portrait mode for no reason). so the only major down sides i've found after a couple months of use are: 1.) the built in hard drive flash storage fills up quickly(after all the windows updates and my music software i had about 4-6 gigs left) - but i've had another 128g sandisk micro sd card work fine in the available slot this comes with, 2.) windows on this only runs in 32bit which means you can't run some newer apps that are made for 64 bit(but 32bit windows uses less hard drive space so this is why they choose to go this route for the tablet) 3.) the headphone jack is a bit lo-fi sounding, at least for music production - you will want an external usb sound card(i recommend the imic($20-30) or the zoom h2n), 4.) there's not enough ram to do a lot at once but there's definitely enough ram to check emails, watch movies, and do some basic audio production work or music sketching - decent video editing, forget it! that would be painful! 5.) the battery doesn't last as long as advertised and you can't turn down the screen brightness to a lower level to help save juice. all in all if you know how to work efficiently with your music production(i.e. mix down or freeze), this is a great travel laptop. or if you're just looking for a super lightweight portable travel laptop, this one is well worth the money!
Hey jackxavier, Excellent! Thank you for the awesome feedback! So glad to hear you are enjoying the tablet!

Good for the price

The first one was unstable, the display had lines across the monitor, I replaced it.....The one I have now work with no problem except that he heard up if used for long time but not as the laptop.

Glad I got it.

I love the tablet and for the price it is fabulous and replaces a slower desktop. My only small gripes are i ordered the pink and beware if you are slightly crazy about certain things like me....lol The pinks dont match on the tablet and the keyboard. lol im not really that happy about that. I would have rather had one part pink and the other part black just to avoid the mixed pinks.. lol I imagine the blue and purple are the same way. The other things i do not like is the mouse pad buttons. They are poorly made. I find myself really fumbling with trying to use them. oh noooo i do not like them at all. The only other thing is the space bar and the caps lock. I feel like i keep hitting that darn caps too often and the space bar is not hitting enough or being pressed hard enough. I am a girl with small hands but wow!!! I bought my husband a version similar but more money, same brand for xmas and I like his much better. You can tell the mouse buttons are there and are like a regular laptop to use and i felt like his is easier to type on i dont know why. Its the same size. Whatever,,,, it will get the job done and give me portability and the price is good. I would not have been happy if i had spent more on it. It was $99 plus tax. If you are planning on tons of typing i would really recommend a laptop. This in my opinion would drive me nuts if i were in school and needed to write papers even though yes the size is nice for transporting in a purse. :) Camera is not good but who really uses :) ive been using for my reviews for my walmart purchases lol thats about it :)
Hey Mclovinchic,

Glad to hear you are enjoying the tablet!

Cambio Tablet

I read the reviews prior to purchasing and I was actually surprised when I got my Cambio. It was Packed professionally and was extremely easy to set up. It didn't take hours as some have reported. It took around 30 minutes to set up and to transfer things from my desktop. I was a little leery about having only 2gb ram but it seems to work extremely well. The only negative I have is battery charge length. Although the charge length is just about exactly as advertised--six hours. Overall I am extremely happy it. It does what I need it to do. The key board is fine and I have pretty big hands. It is not a powerhouse, but it is, so far a very good computer. I have a 64gb micro SD card installed and have a 2tb external hard drive attached for more storage space.
Hey Nedcline,

Glad to hear you are enjoying the tablet!

A little quirky but, better than I expected

After getting frustrated with my iPad 2 that has been crippled since Apple released iOS 7, I was looking for an alternative to buying another iPad and came across this 2 in 1. It arrived in lightly padded enveloped with a dented box but, fortunately, it still worked. The charger doesn't stay always connected and considering asking for a new one. After spending several hours downloading Windows updates, I was able to use the machine. I have to say, it is not bad. Definitely a lot quicker to browse the internet and do google searches than on my iPad 2. Detaching the screen from the keyboard and using it as a tablet is not bad either. It is usable but, not super responsive. However, it is good enough for casual web browsing. Battery life is decent and I like the fact it has a full size usb port, memory card slot and external mini-hdmi output. So it has exceeding my expectations for something that cost me less than $120 shipped. If you need something for browsing the web and for email, this will do just fine. For anything else more taxing, I can't really say.
Hey pcman,

Glad to hear you are enjoying the tablet!

Excited Then Disappointed.

I wanted to get a small and lightweight device and when I found this Cambio I thought it would be wonderful. A 2 in 1. Just what I needed as a disabled person who spends 23 hours a day in bed. Desktop to much, tablets to limiting and smartphones to small. I immediately order it with overnight shipping. Then I realized my mistake and cannot get back to Walmart to return it nor ship it. Remember bedridden. With a income of only $805.00 I cannot buy another one for awhile. Here is a list just on the first few days. 1. Bluetooth will not receive files/pictures from Windows 10 Phone. Get a error stating receiving device does not have capability. 2. Goes to Airplane mode when started or restarted. 3. Storage: Previous version of Windows will not delete. 7.89 GB (windows.old) folder. Tried manually and within Storage in Settings. 4. Temp Files will not delete. Same issue as #3. 5. Accuweather crashes within seconds of load. No help from Accuweather. 6. Many other annoying things that do not happen to desktop or phone running Windows 10. Screen shots available on request. 7. The pictures both lenses take are unusable.

BEWARE

DO NOT BUY THIS. Ive only had it 3 months been very careful with it. Ivenever dropped itor anything and now it wont work. It shows the dead battery symbol and it will not charge nor turn on.

Horrible

This tablet is so slow at 1.33Ghz speed. The ram is fine at 2GB but the storage is not the full 32GB. It shows 29GB but only 19 available to use. The update took 3 hours to download 2 Windows update and install. The WiFi speed is only 20mbps. Battery only last about 3 hours. I received an update for a driver and it messed it up and now the touch screen is not working. I performed a factory reset but did not fix the problem. System Restore was disable by default and if it wasn't been for that I could have fixed it. I am returning it back to Walmart.
