Exceeded my expectations!
This product is "RCA Attic/ Outdoor Compact Design HD Antenna" 65+ miles range. It includes mounting bracket and J pole for attic mounting but can be mounted on roof or on outside pole (parts not included). It could not find this product on Walmart's website after purchasing at my local store so I used the Walmart app and scanned the barcode and this is the product with wrong picture and description. I live in a rural area about 20 miles from the nearest town in a valley surrounded by hills. I was not expecting this antenna to pick up any channels since other ones that I tried failed. So I originally just mounted it on the side of my house and it picked up 12 channels, so I went and got a 24ft. pole and mounted i beside the house and to my surprise I was picking up channels 100 miles away. I get 19 permanent channels and 21 other channels at night. I get ABC, NBC, CBS, CW, FOX, MyTV, PBS, COMET, Ant Tv, Escape, Bounce Tv and Get Tv. I'm sure someone that wasn't in such a remote location would pick up much more channels. Attached is a picture of the box and product details.
It's very compact, but gets good receptiom
I would give this product 5 stars for several reasons. First, the assembly instructions were very easy to understand. Second, assembling itself was simple and straight forward. The wing nuts helped a lot. Third, the light weight works very well for me, especially on ladders. Fourth, very reasonably priced. I live only about 25 miles from most of the TV transmitters and was picking up 26 stations with my new TV using a brand name flat leaf hang on the wall antenna. Though this was good there was one low powered UHF station that I couldn't get and was much interested in. This RCA antenna in my attic pulls in 61 stations including that one Do to the curvature of the earth, I do question the 70 mile range claim, but that's not a concern for me. Over all, the antenna exceeds my expectations
I have gone through several indoor antennas and still was not able to get the majority of local TV stations. Finally decided to get something a little bigger and more powerful. This was fairly simple to put together and well worth the time it took to install. With this I also purchased a 15 foot RG6 coax cable. Before wasting the time running the cable through my wall and into attic, we hooked it up and just ran the cable out the front door. On the very first channel scan we got every local channel so decided to install it properly. We put this antennae in the attic and ran the cable down the wall and came out right in the middle of the TV wall mount. Cable and antennae are virtually invisible and reception is the best We have had so far in this house. Very pleased with this item so far, and see no reason to get anything more expensive than this one. Well worth the time and money we put into this little weekend project!!
I got this antenna for my mother, who decided to get off of satellite to save money. It was easy enough to assemble and came with brackets to mount either to a flat surface or to a mast pipe. At first, I was disappointed that it only received 8 TV stations. It turned out that an in-line coax splitter was interfering with the signals. After eliminating the splitter, we were able to receive up to 22 channels. I say "up to" because this is a directional antenna. In order to receive a particular channel that mom wanted, I had to turn the antenna slightly which reduced reception down to 18 channels...but she was happy with that. Bottom line: 1) antennas are all basically directional & must be turned to received the optimum number of channels, and, 2) sometimes antenna performance is affected by the most non-obvious things. Before you blame the antenna for poor performance, check that any interfering factors have first been eliminated. Hope this helps.
I replaced a flat, wall mount, indoor antenna with this one on my roof to an old DirecTV mast with no mods needed - the enclosed attaching bracket was large enough to fit around the over-sized post. Although the indoor antenna pulled in the five Cleveland major network stations that I'm interested in, whose transmitters are 7-8 miles away (as well as another 32 locally), the signal strength only ranged from 61-74%. Once this one was installed, signal strength jumped up to 100% on the original 5 network stations and pulled in an additional 10 channels. I couldn't be happier!
Working way better than my indoor antenna.
Easy to assemble and install. Provides good reception within the advertised range.
Decent for the price. Good reception. Four stars only because some of the plastic parts appear that they may not weather well over time. If you're mounting it in an attic, this isn't an issue. Also, the assembly instructions could be a little more thorough. Overall, I'd buy it again as I'm satisfied with the quality for the price I paid.
