Bought this based on a recommendation. Couldn't find it in any of the five Walmarts in my area. Had to go online to buy it. Made the best darn rice I've ever cooked. Did just as well with lentils, and barley. Very fast. The instructions that come with it are not very good but you can figure it out. I'm giving two for Christmas presents. Enjoy!

This thing is falling apart. The valve in the handle lost the rubber piece holding it in, after I paid for the product, and is not usable until I have to buy another. Stick to the old time pressure cookers, they never fell apart. Customer service? There are 2 numbers to call, one in the booklet and one online, and no one answers either. Rings once or twice then cuts you off. Ditto on the "chat", is useless as well. Someone with broken english and is no help whatsoever.

I was always so afraid of my mother's pressure cooker when it started making all the noise I just knew it was going to BLOW! I love this one! Push button controls and no noise except when it is done cooking and you release the steam. The instructions leave a lot to the imagination but it is good enough to start cooking. The cookbook is small but gives you an idea of how to use it. You can cook from FROZEN!! to DONE in anywhere from 5-10 minutes or 20, depending on the item. I love it because I never remember to take the frozen food out of the freezer in time to thaw. Now, I don't have to feel guilty. Dinner is fast these days and much less hectic. I have done pork ribs and chicken wings in it. Cook them in 15 minutes and then swab with BBQ sauce and put on the grill. Yummmmm! The one on TV was $99 but Walmart had it on the shelf for $79 and I bought the 2 year replacement warranty for $9 and still got it cheaper than the "As seen on TV." Buy it! You will love it!

Customer Service FAIL! Quality Control FAIL!

I purchased this and it was missing the small silicone ring that is needed to hold the pressure relief valve in place in order to use the unit safely. I called their power cooker customer service line and asked about the part and the woman told me I had to buy it for $9.95 or take it back to Walmart! Sorry, if I have to shell out $10 bucks for a small ring of silicone you should have put in the packaging at the factory, it's not my fault or Walmart's fault. So, failure at quality control at your plant is not MY problem. I'm returning the unit and getting a refund. Just thought everyone else on Walmart.com and Amazon and other sites should know about Power Cooker's FAIL at customer service and quality control. I let the know I'll be taking it back and won't be purchasing another. There are other manufacturers out there with better quality control.

Reason for E1 error code and how to fix

So this unit was working great then got the infamous E1 flashing error code. Researched several online sites and no one has ackue how to fix...except for me. This error code is telling you that the contact switch located in the base unit is gummed up and dirty. (See picture). There are several Phillips head screws to remove; 1 for the units base cover, 2 for the black wires leading from the contact switch to the controller board, 2 for the contact tip bracket and 1 long screw that holds the main contact switch assembly to the base. Once the switch is free, clean between the several thin plates with a tooth brush to get the gunk out. Reassemble the switch in reverse order and voila! No more E1 error code. Not a job for the faint of heart, but works.

While visiting in Illinois from Ohio found an 8qt cooker in Champaign and purchased it along with the Walmart extended warranty. Did not open box till we returned to Ohio three days later. Found the "float valve"missing on inspection, thanks to reading another's review of their problem. Returned cooker to a local Walmart and found a duplicate on their shelf and exchanged it with no problem. Was glad I had not bought it through the infomercial after reading the horror stories on product reviews dealing with the mail order company. Have used it 6 or 8 times and found it quick and easy to use, more so than a stovetop pressure cooker I've used previously. You do need to read the directions carefully as they are vague in some areas?

For what Walmart is selling this for, I use it a lot. There are other versions of this on other sites that do have more features for a little more money. But honestly I dump stuff in, press cook, set the time and let it go. Great for cooking rice and pasta too. My one criticism is this. Where do I find parts for it? Such as a replacement gasket, replacement inner pot (I've scrubbed mine to where the non-stick is worn off), etc. I don't know if this is made by the same people that sell Power Pressure Cooker XL and if the parts are interchangeable or not. Can anyone help?

I went to Walmart looking for a new slow cooker/crockpot, as my old one broke (had it for 10+ years) and I really wanted a programmable option. When I saw this product on the shelf (last 1 too) I thought it was a great item, as it had everything I wanted and more!!! Well, then I brought it home and noticed there wasn't an instruction manual, nor the "bonus" recipe book. So I called the customer service number on the box and asked if there was a link I could follow to download/view the instruction manual so I can make dinner for my family. I was advised by a man, who could barely speak English #there's a surprise# that this item has been discontinued and someone would call me back on Tuesday, as Monday is a holiday. Ok, well that does me #and my family# no good NOW, ya know, when I actually NEED the information. I've tried searching several websites for information or the manual instructions, but nothing can be found. So, it was marked no for recommendation and #VERY# poor for everything else, because I can't use it!

Same as Power Pressure Cooker XL

In case you're wondering, this unit is virtually identical to the Power Pressure Cooker XL advertised on TV. It's made by the same company, is the same size and functions the same. The lid/handle is designed differently and it doesn't have three buttons for rice cooking. However if you press the rice button repeatedly, you can still get settings for white, brown and wild rice. This thing is amazing. I've been using it almost non-stop since purchasing. The results have been really tasty. It cleans up easily. The biggest challenge is finding recipes for it. You can use the ones online for the TV version, but they are few and not really very well written. I've been adapting recipes from stovetop pressure cookers, but you still need to estimate how long to cook it in your power pressure cooker. Just trial and error. Start with lower times and go a little longer if needed and you can hardly go wrong. You should also note that it takes time to build pressure so when you see a recipe says it only takes 10 minutes, you need about another 5 minutes just for pressure to build before it starts cooking.

I have owned mY Power Cooker for about 6 months and I love it! I have 3 other stove tops in varying sizes, including a 16 qt. cooker/canner which I can with, and cook whole hams and very large quanity's in. This thing is the Cat's meow, when it comes to cooking, but the accessories are junk, as well as the books leave a lot to be desired. Cooking times for meat are too short for me because I like my food WELL DONE, but folks, this thing does everything but cook your breakfast and I'm still finding new uses for it. Boiled eggs are a cinch! Just add a cup of water, place the rack in the slot, place your eggs on it, cook for six minutes at high pressure, then place eggs in ice water for a couple of minutes, and eggs come out of shells without going through an act of congress. Very easy to shell! This is probably the only item I've ever seen advertised on TV that works as good as they claim, and to me, it's even better. Perfect roasts, soups and whatever you desire to cook and all you do is set it and forget it. Simple as it gets!

Is the cooking pot stainless steel?
    by Bailey 5/17/2014
    9 answers
    • A. No, it is NOT a Stainless Steel removable cooking pot! It is non-stick coated (dark gray Teflon) steel or aluminum. Watch the video to see it being placed in the dishwasher. The steamer insert plate for the pot is stainless steel. The Sunpentown 6.5 Quart Electric Pressure Cooker however, has a Stainless Steel cooking pot and steamer insert. If you're concerned about the safety or durability of plastic (PFOA) non-stick coatings, consider the SPT pressure cooker sold by Walmart for the same price. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sunpentown-6.5-Quart-Electric-Pressure-Cooker-Black/37406690?action=product_interest&action_type=title&placement_id=irs-2-m1&strategy=PWVUB&visitor_id=CZrUjUq4imGlv0UnPAzHrU&category=&client_guid=3377af87-9c59-41ff-8b67-0372668f7817&customer_id_enc=f06182ce-c8af-6a48-e044-001517f43a86&config_id=2&parent_item_id=23422591&parent_anchor_item_id=23422591&guid=08680a51-19fa-4330-b00d-21bc0d483a0f&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&beacon_version=1.0.1&findingMethod=p13n
