Not what is shown in the picture

What I thought I was ordering is not what I got, but I love it anyway. The instructions are very limited and confusing. The digital control panel of the appliance I received looks like a 6 qt. panel. The owner's manual is for an 8 qt with a front panel like the 6 qt. model. In other words, the owner's manual pressure cooking guide explains the use of the buttons as they appear on the actual digital control panel of the appliance received, however, included in the instruction packet, is a Digital Control Panel - Overview, that describes the button functions of the unit I thought I ordered based on the image Walmart has for a Power Cooker XL 8 qt. After many hours of google research I stumbled across a facebook group called Pressure Cooking Fun. Many of the members have this brand and have been very helpful with answers to how to questions, and their experiences with this brand, as well as some great recipes. Finally, I love this appliance so much, I bought one for my daughter and one for my daughter-in-law.

    Quick Cook

As for this item I have been keeping my eye out for a rice cook/slow cooker and refused to buy two items again. When I went to buy I found this pressure cooker which is said to do all that my other two units did and more. Well they are right. Go on line there are endless recipes by the maker of this model. I cooked a pork loin in 30 minutes total time a little browning and close the lid. I have done mac and cheese with a box of noodles a jar of sauce and a cup of milk and one of water. So good I've made it twice and I am not the biggest fan of mac and cheese. after Christmas we made split pea soup and lentils with the leftover ham. Can I say OMG good some of the best ever and my husband has been making for 30 years. If your going to go out and buy a rice cooker or a slow cooker buy this it'll save you in the end on time, space, and money. Oh and rice is great in this thing.

Pot only lasts 6 months per company

I called today to get a gasket replacement for this pot since it broke a few months after I bought this and I finally had the money to replace it. I asked the customer service representative about how to clean the stuck on food from the inside of the pot. He asked how long I had had the pot and said they recommend all inside pots to be replaced after 6 months. I don't have that kind of money so cancelled the gasket and I guess now have a useless appliance. I have to say that when I first got this product I loved it and expected it to last more than a few months. I should say I loved that it cooked fast but I didn't love that it has a honeycomb texture on the bottom of the pot that makes cleaning it extremely hard. The smooth sides are fine but the rest is close to impossible even using soaking and hot soapy water and cleanser.

It's a throw away unit- other problems

I had the unit for almost 3 months and it seemed to cook OK. I decided to re-read the manual and noticed it said the seal gasket should be replaced at lease once a year or more often if necessary. I went to Walmart .com and searched for the part. Many gaskets were displayed without reference as to which model they might fit (they just said "pressure cooker"). The descriptions did include dimensions, but I could not find one that matched mine. I contacted the maker at powercooker.com and after several email exchanges, they could not offer a replacement. They suggested that I might "try" a different model to see if it would fit. I returned the unit to Walmart rather than have a throw-away unit when the gasket wears out. Other issues: The rubber feet leave black stains and streaks on the counter. I thought it might wear off after a bit...but no. The translucent rubber parts (top gasket and vent valve gasket) retain strong food odors that don't seem to wash out. For easy to peel hard boiled eggs, pressure cooking is the way to go, but they need to cook at a lower pressure. 40 kPa works well, but the minimum time allowed at that pressure is 15 min, which overcooks the eggs.

Buyer beware.... 8 quart unit only holds 6 quarts!

Cooking efficiency aside...(I've not cooked with it yet) there is one thing I am seriously frustrated with, and thought it warranted getting it out there. There is a max line for the amount of food that can be put in this pot that is advertised as an 8 quart unit. I completely understand the need to have this max line as the manual says to not fill the pot past this or it can damage the unit. But this line is 6 quarts. I thought it seemed smaller than my 7 quart crock pot, so I took the time to measure out liquid to this max line, using a 2 quart liquid measuring cup. 3 x full...DONE. If you have a need for an 8 quart capacity as I did, go up to the 10 quart unit. This is not your pot!!

Stop working but I’ll give it one more chance.

It stop working after few days. Will return it. I was in love with this cooker but it stop working. Just because it cooked very good I’ll give it one more chance and go for exchange. My friend has the same and it works good. So will see after exchange. Two stars only for stop working so fast.

    Best Kitchen Appliance EVER!!!!!

I purchased this Power Cooker Pressure Cooker after I gave my old one to my son. I had the 6 quart and wanted a larger capacity cooker. This is the best invention yet for doing all types of cooking without heating up the kitchen with your gas or electric stove. There isn't anything other than fried chicken that I can't cook in this appliance. This size is great for canning quart size jars in it too. If you get one, you will see what I am raving about. This is definitely the Best Kitchen Appliance EVER!!! And the service I received from Walmart was grand.

    Miss leading people.

Owners manual, no explanation how to do canning? Plus no tools for canning? Contradict on the box it sad canning, but where is canning ruck? I have to spend another $20 extra to buy separate? NO! When I call customer service , woman told me this? This is not nice miss leading customers! I am not spending extra $20 plus tax for it, will just return!!!

I am torn over this product...

On the one hand, it does what it says it does. However, there is one major flaw...everything on the bottom of the pan burns, especially if you leave in the warm mode for any period of time. But just about everything has stuck to the bottom and/or burned. Only very close to water liquids do not burn. But any kind of tomato sauce, for get about it! Shortly after I received it, I was emailed by the company offering extra pots for just $8.95 shipping cost. Which leads me to believe that they know there is a problem and pots need to be replaced often. They should also have a cover for the pot for easy food in pot storage.

    Love it

First one we had, within a month the lid broke, however, the cooking quality is by far extraordinary. roasts, freezer to plate within 50 minutes with veggies. we have cooked stews, soups, and have seared things, we have steamed, we have used every setting BUT the canning setting and are in love with this machine. If there is only one machine doing it all, this is it. I think it is great so far and other than the first issue with the lid, then we have not had anther problem since. will purchase for gifts
