Not a bad machine

I bought this after my Weedeater Twist n Edge quit after 10+ years of seasonal use. Decided on this mostly because of the attachments (havent purchased any yet but will write a review when i do). I have come to know Poulan as a reasonably dependably name. As the name preceeds it, right out of the box, i couldnt ask for much more. Assembly took all of about 3 minutes with no tools and no directions. I added mixed gasoline (as recommended), it took a few pulls and a few extra pumps of the primer, i assume because it was dry. It started right up as i would expect a new machine to do. after it ran for about 20 seconds, it ran like a champ. I went right to town doing my usual trimming around trees and along a chain link fence (the line it comes with isnt bad). Seems to come to every expectation i could have for a normal duty use. The only con i noticed is that it would bog down if given full throttle from an idle, but if you work into the throttle it does just fine. Overall, a great value for the price.

Garbage, throw away trimmer

We had bought our first house, and were obviously short on cash for 'stuff'. I knew better than to buy cheap tools, but needed to get through a summer or two. I should have followed my own advice, that I am too poor to buy cheap junk. After one year, garage kept mind you, this thing looks like if is 10 years old, as far as seals, fuel lines, etc. Bogs down badly during use. Overheats and smokes if used for more than 15 minutes. It finally quit. BTW, I take good care of my stuff, clean out carbs and drain fuel every spring, so engine does not gum up. Use compressor to blow out debris after nearly every use of my power tools. (I like stuff to last). This had no chance. Opened up the engine to see if I could repair, and its just junk, poor quality parts all around. If you can possibly afford it, save up and get a good Stihl ,Husky, or quality brand of your choice. Will save you money in the long run, since buying 3 junky trimmers is far more expensive than buying 1 quality one.

Great for the money-easy to change spool

OK-I'm a commercial tomato grower. I use these on a daily basis Spring to Fall. I spent almost 500. on a highend machine last year. Every time the string ran out, I had to change the whole cartridge that cost about 45.00 plus shipping. By the end of the season it cost about 600.00 for string cartridge. This cheap PP125 is a bit heavy for hours of use I give it, but with the shoulder strap, handles like a dream (I'm an older gal, so a guy might not need it.) Changing the string is a snap and super cheap to boot. It starts perfectly. I'm on my way to WalMart to buy a second PP125 so we can run 2 at once. To tell you the truth, it does the same job as the high end machine. I cant comment on how it runs after sitting all winter. But I do know from experience that anytime you store over winter you need to dump all the gas/oil you use as it just gunks up the carb if you dont. You have to use fresh gas. And I tie on a couple of heavy mil plastic bags around the motor on these over winter to keep moisture out of the engine. I keep it hung up on the wall. I also know how to clean the carb and any other fuel related things and I do this as a rule at the end of every season. If I being an older lady can do this, anyone can, believe me :) I'm not worried about it starting next season, it has a year warrantly. Oh, and make sure you get the straight arm because of the extra attachments and easier use. I have all of the attachments and they all work great. We've run this one about 300 hours. Now if only gas will go down in cost...

I had another one and it has lasted for many years

This is a great product and built to last. It starts right up every time. I have 5 acres of land and this is my second in 10 years I finally wore the other out. Great product

Junk!!! Poor warranty

Item ran through a half a spool of cord then started to bog down. Called company within two weeks of purchase and they told me to take it to an area service center. I waited two weeks to take it in. It took two and half weeks to service and then they told me a carburetor adjustment would not be covered under warranty. Adjustments are not covered after 30 days even though I called the company within two weeks. Make sure if you purchase this product you use it quickly to determine if it need adjustments. Product is made so the consumer can not adjust carburetor. Not happy will not buy Poulan again.
