My little guy has been wanting a scooter for a while now, but since he's only three he struggles with the two wheeled scooters. When we got the chance to review this product, we were all super excited! This scooter requires minimal assembly. The best part, to me, is the package includes all the necessary tools! Seriously awesome. For those who already have a great set of tools, you'll probably want to use your own, but for us lazy folks who can't be bothered, the tools included are just fine for assembling all the parts. The materials for this scooter are all of pretty good quality; what you would expect for the product. Metal frame, soft plastic handle bars, plastic platform, plastic and rubber wheels, the overall scooter is really light and easy to handle. The fact that it's light is one of the main reasons why it's easy for my three-year-old to use. Riding the scooter has some pros and cons. Being light-weight, my three year old can handle it pretty well. The three-wheel design helps stabilize the scooter and minimize the need for perfect balance. The downside to the design, which surprised me, is the fact that the second wheel is in the back. As my toddler moves his leg along the ground to push himself, he tends to bump his ankle into one of the back wheels. Since he's new to using scooters I'm sure he'll figure out how to push past the wheels entirely and get more momentum for a better ride. We haven't tried the three-wheel scooters with two wheels in front, one in back, to truly compare. My five-year-old is able to use this scooter as well. She's much more skilled at keeping balance and pushing the scooter farther and faster. The second wheel in the back is no problem for her. The problem for her, turns out, is how light it is. She can't put as much of her weight on the scooter as she goes, otherwise it wobbles more. Overall, both of my kids enjoy using this scooter. They take the cons and figure out a way to compensate and adjust, which pretty much goes for any recreational vehicle they own. My three-year-old loves the pocket in the front and even packed up the tools included for assembly to be a little "fix-it" man on a scooter!
