    • A. No, you do it. The foam is pluck foam. So you pluck out the square pegs of foam as desired. I have used a sharp fillet knife on other similar product with much success. Then instead of the foam stairstepping...it is contoured with the shape of your rifle and accessories.

    • A. There is egg-crate foam on both sides and the 'customizable' foam in the center. I customized the fit to my rifle and laid another on top. You can remove the center foam all together and add something of your own if you wanted.

    • A. The interior foam is in three layers, top, middle, and bottom. The center section is "cut to fit" and the bottom can be cut or trimmed as well. The top is "egg crate" style to provide a well cushioned clamping force after you have fit your weapon. Very easy to set up and much better than pick and pluck foam.

    • A. You have to cut the foam to fit your weapons in the case, I havent tried it yet but I was told you can buy a foam cutter cheap and it works well. Aside from all that - AWESOME CASE! Glad I got two

    • A. Yes. I transported two rifles in it via United. The last time I used a cheap Plano box with two padlocks. I think the only requirement is that it be a hard case, locked, and you must retain the key with you. They will ask you to open the case to look at the rifles. Then you put in there a signed form saying that you understand the rules. Then lock it up. Most folks at the counters don't know anything about them. They don't even know that they are supposed to verify that the rifle is unloaded. also, you can transport up to 12 lbs of ammo in the same case if desire.

    • A. Airlines and TSA require weapons cases be of hard shell construction and secured with locking devices in such a manner that the case cannot be pried open. So multiple latches and at least two locks/locking latches some distance apart on a handgun or rifle case that inhibit prying the sides and/or ends apart. The owner of the case must be the only person with the means of unlocking the case, be that key or combination. The use of TSA locks is not approved. This Plano case meets the requirements of both air carriers and the TSA.

Hi there, wondering how much the case weighs and also is it absolutely necessary to cut the foam to fit the gun or guns ? thanks...Brett

    • A. I don't have an accurate scale, but I did read somewhere that it's about 20 lbs. No, you don't have to cut, or pull out the foam to fit a rifle. I will say that trying to fit two rifles (a 30-30 and 22WMG) with scopes was very tight. I ended up removing all the pluck foam and just putting them in the case while still in their soft cases. Doing it over again I might put the soft cases in my luggage and then get a new set of pluck foam and contour it to each individual rifle.

    • A. The case is pretty light by itself but is pretty heavy with two rifles. I can still carry it with the handle but the wheels are great to help with the 'loaded' weight.

    • A. The foam is pick and pluck and very dense so you will have to do this in the middle layer to get things to fit. Weight should be on the Plano site.

I had been saving for a pelican case of similar size and came across this case in an NRA store flyer. There version had a large NRA emblem and was a little more money, which I would have paid if I didn't come across this deal in my search to get more info about the case. I keep a single scoped 20in ar-10 rifle, two magazines, bipod, rangefinder, twenty rounds of ammo, wind meter, one piece cleaning rod (between the two pieces of foam) and a small amount of solution and patches. A lot for one case and it doesn't look over stuffed. It doesn't have the automatic pressure valve like the pelican, a small recessed screw that needs to be opened manually to allow pressurees to stay equalized. Six rugged latches, two are lockable. Two spots for padlocks. "O" ring sealed. Two large over molded handles and wheels for easier transport while traveling. Great product worth well more than what I paid.

Good solid case. Not a pelican case but also not the price of a pelican. Only get pelican if you trying to show off.

Having high and low end rifle cases I was surprised to find the two scoped rifle case to be close in quality to a Pelican or SKC, but with a much lower price. It does take a couple of hits. One in the type of lock since it uses a pair of locking latches instead of lock loops that would accept padlocks. I am not a fan of luggage style keys in a lock set. However, the latches are good enough to meet TSA and air carrier requirements. The second hit is it is not truly a two scoped rifle case unless both rifles are small caliber. A large caliber collapsible stock rifle with a scope uses up quite a bit of the space, especially if a couple of magazines are stored in the case. The interior padding is listed as being "pick and pluck". Mine was not of that type, instead being solid sheet foam in the center and bottom with "egg crate" foam on top, with both being better than "pick and pluck". The case is very well padded and provides a thoughtful middle section that permits you to fit the rifle to foam by cutting out the rifle's shape. Overall a very good value and one I would do over again without second thought.

Was a little worried since this is manufactured by Plano and they make some cheaper plastics products. This is not the case with this case. I think I got a nice gun case for a reasonable price.

Flying to SLC and wanted to bring along firearms. I did my research and I am glad I got this and saved the cash. It's more than sufficient for what I need. I thought I could put 2 rifles and squeeze in 2 handguns but that's not happening. 2 rifles, or 1 rifle and 3 handguns is doable. The pelican case is superior, but 98% of the time that pelican would be stored away..Southwest Airlines allow this free as 1 of my 2 free checked bags..funny, they won't let you bring on a bottle of water but I can check 11 lbs of ammo...
